Ahead of any formal announcements, Amazon.com has begun taking pre-orders for several Disney films on Blu-ray in 2011. For the most part, no additional information is yet available but we will update and highlight the releases as we learn of them:
‘Prep & Landing‘, the holiday television special from Walt Disney Animation Studios is expected to be released on November 22, 2011 as per the DVD edition. We can probably expect to see the short introduced last year, ‘Operation: Secret Santa,’ as well as some of the online content and perhaps even the new special being released later this year, ‘Prep & Landing: Naught vs. Nice.’
The direct-to-video sequel Bambi II will find its way onto Disney Blu-ray on August 23, 2011.
In addition, films made for India by Disney will also be released domestically later this year on July 26, 2011 including Zokkomon and Do Dooni Chaar and Disney’s first Indian film in the Telug language, Once Upon A Warrior
Among the guests on the March 4th edition of the ABC morning talkshow, ‘The View,’ were Bambi voice actors Donnie Dunagan and Peter Behn who, as children, provided the voices of Bambi and Thumper respectively.
As opposed to live action films where actors do physically perform together for the most part, in animation, roles are usually performed and recorded separately. This allows for individual lines to be recorded over and over for optimal delivery choices, but inherently doesn’t allow the actors to play off of each other.
As fate would have it, Dunagan and Behn, despite performing in the iconic film seven decades ago and sharing the unique and special bond, had never met face to face until this morning.

A rapidly recognized force in the women’s contemporary fashion world, Patterson J. Kincaid, a Jaya Apparel Group brand, announced today that it is collaborating with Disney Consumer Products to introduce a special limited edition collection — Disney by: Patterson J. Kincaid, which offers trendsetters fashion with a bit of nostalgia. The collection of vintage-chic women’s apparel will launch June 2011 and will be found in Patterson J. Kincaid brick and mortar and e-commerce retailers nationwide.
The Disney by: Patterson J. Kincaid collection combines the vintage comfort the brand is known for with some of Disney’s most beloved visuals including from the classic story, Bambi, which will be the design inspiration for the first delivery and Fantasia for the future installment. The collection is comprised of easy, knit pieces ranging from effortlessly cool tank tops to hip oversized sweatshirts and stylishly distressed T-shirts that fit like an old favorite.
“The Patterson J. Kincaid girl is a vintage lover who spends her time outdoors being playful,” says Jane Siskin, President and CEO of Jaya Apparel Group. “Also nostalgic and whimsical as many of Disney’s stories, we knew the Patterson J. Kincaid consumer would love a collection that brought to life cherished childhood memories. Bambi’s woodsy aesthetic and precious visuals made it the perfect choice to kick off the collection.”
All visuals used in the collection were sourced from Disney’s famed and revered archives for authenticity and to project the vintage look Patterson J. Kincaid is known for. From Bambi’s first steps on a frozen pond to Thumper’s playful energy and Flower’s feminine sweetness, all the character art was carefully selected for their unique traits also embodied by the Patterson J. Kincaid adorer.
“Walt Disney often collaborated with an array of artists and this new Disney by: Patterson J. Kincaid collection is an extension of that legacy,” said Pam Lifford, executive vice president, global fashion and home, Disney Consumer Products. “Teaming up with trend forward designers for their interpretations of our stories and characters allows Disney to continue to resonate as a fashion and lifestyle brand and keep a vital and relevant connection with consumers of all ages.”

Mickey Mouse isn’t the only Disney friend to enter the TRON grid anymore thanks to this first look at the sculpt of an upcoming MINDstyle adult toy collectible (ATC). Unfortunately the vinyl figure will be exclusive to the Man Is In The Forest concept store in Shanghai. The shop actually got its name from the film Bambi, although it’s said that the line itself was also used by Disney animators to spread word that Walt Disney was present at the Studios.
If you’re an enthusiast of Thomas Kinkade, the painter of light, you probably know he’s getting ready to hint about the next entry in his Disney Dreams collection. We are thrilled and fortunate enough to be able to bring you this first look before it’s even announced: Bambi’s First Year.
