Disney Store has provided us with this hi-res photo of the new Disney Store exclusive limited edition Belle doll which will be available to own on October 5, the same day Beauty and the Beast is being released on Disney Blu-ray/DVD
The exquisite 16″ doll which is limited to just 5,000 pieces worldwide joins Snow White and Tiana as the third princess in this highly collectible series from Disney Store which has consistently and rapidly sold out completely very shortly after their respective releases.
With its intricate details inspired by 18th century French fashion, this beautifully designed Belle doll captures the essence of the Beauty that turned a Beast into a handsome prince. The elegance of her golden satin dress is enhanced by the intricate layers of gathering, each punctuated by a shimmering golden rhinestone. The bodice is accented with five perfect golden roses, each capped by a single glittering stone, and gleaming golden jeweled strands which add to the magical look befitting a Disney Princess. A delicate swag of luxurious chiffon held in place by gorgeous golden roses adds the perfect touch to an exquisite gown. Belle holds a single glittering red rose; a fitting testament to the power of true love.
Belle retails for $99.95 and comes complete with a stand and certificate of authenticity (COA). She will not be bundled with an edition of the film.

Disney Shuffles ‘Monsters,’ Kills the ‘Beast’ and Saves the Date for ‘Prom’
Walt Disney Studios made some announcements earlier today regarding its upcoming slate. Fearing sparkling vampires, Mike Wazowski and Sulley will be making their triumphant return to the silver scream in Monsters Inc. 2 a whopping two weeks earlier now on November 2, 2012.
Despite the tremendous buzz and many supporters, it appears that the already-rescheduled Beauty and the Beast 3D may not make it to theaters in the United States after-all as it has been completely removed from the upcoming release slate. Originally expected to be released in 2010 and then in 2011, the special edition of the film is slated for a limited release overseas later this year.
An update from The Hollywood Reporter suggests the film is still destined for North American theaters, just at a much later date, after consumers have more widely bought into the 3D home theater experience, although that argument appears to hold little water given the number of 3D films being released theatrically to start with, let alone the three releases in 3D from Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment later this year (bundled with 2D versions of the films).
Finally, Walt Disney Studios has set a release date for Prom for April 29, 2011.

First Look: ‘Beauty and the Beast’ in 3D Teaser Trailer
Walt Disney Studios New Zealand has just released a teaser trailer for Beauty and the Beast in Disney Digital 3D. According to the trailer, it begins performing in the country August 12 in a very limited release.
The 3D theatrical release of the film, which was originally slated for Valentine’s Day of 2010 in the United States, has been generating tremendous buzz to the point where it’s been suggested that The Lion King and other Disney animated classics may soon follow suit.
It’s expected to open domestically in 2011, most likely during the Valentine’s Day timeframe, but no official date has yet been announced.

Aimed at girls ages 5 – 8, the Princess & Me dolls (Tiana, Aurora, Cinderella, Ariel, Belle and Rapunzel) measure a whopping 18″ in height and seek to engage the child into exploring a whole new world of play beyond the cardboard box. Their unique facial features as the classic Disney Princesses are re-imagined as how they might appear if they were tweens. Each retails for $49.99 and includes a booklet filled with Disney Princess fun facts and activities and the opportunity to register so the child receives a special letter on their birthday from their favorite Princess.
The real slant on the collection, however, is that there is a full line of accessories and highly-detailed wardrobe available which includes actual Disney Princess roleplay dresses for the child that match the doll’s clothing exactly. There’s also a line of purses inspired by each of the Disney Princesses that comes in both child and doll sizes (shown together with the dresses below, but sold separately).
The matching child dresses are also $49.99 each while the individual doll outfits are $14.99 – $19.99 each (ballet and sleepwear at launch). Also available is a Princess & Me Vanity Set for $14.99, a Princess & Me Wardrobe for $39.99 and a Princess & Me Canopy Bed for $49.99.
The collection will be available exclusively at Toys ‘R’ Us beginning in August and the Disney Store in fall. Additionally, QVC will introduce the collection next month to accept pre-orders.

First Look: Box Cover Art for ‘Beauty and the Beast’ Diamond Edition on Blu-ray
TheHDRoom has exclusively posted cover art for the upcoming Diamond Edition release of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast from Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment. Also available on the site is the DVD edition of the artwork.
No official announcements regarding the highly anticipated release have been announced so far other than the Disney Store has confirmed it will be releasing a special edition Belle doll in the fall as it has done for The Princess and the Frog’s Tiana and Snow White, however we are currently anticipating a release date of October 5 for the Blu-ray/DVD combo pack.

Disney Pushes Back ‘Beauty and the Beast 3D’ to 2011
We have received an update from Walt Disney Studios confirming some reports that Beauty and the Beast won’t be making its 3D debut for Valentine’s Day this year as initially announced during last year’s company shareholder meeting.
Although we do not have a new release date, it looks like the film is still expected to be released, but not until some point in 2011.

Hallmark Introduces ‘Augmented Reality’ Greeting Cards for Valentine’s Day
Hallmark introduced a new line of greeting cards today using what’s come to be known as augmented reality. The greetings cards, while fully functional as traditional cards, offer a unique and innovative experience by allowing the recipient to use the card as a platform for a 3D animated sequence come to life right before their eyes.
Disney fans may recognize this as the same technology that Disneyland pushed heavily last summer with the Fantasmic! Dragon and the Become a Villain game.
Launching just in time for Valentine’s Day, the line currently consists of ten variations including licensed properties such as Snoopy, Charlie Brown, Scooby Doo and, of course, Disney Princesses, with more expected to be introduced in the future. The cards will retail for $2.99 each except for those that include sound, which will retail for $5.99 each.
Using the card itself as a target, the recipient downloads an application from Hallmark’s website that allows them to use their webcam (required) to recognize and use the card as a stage on which they can view the animation and hear the sounds on their computer screen. As the recipient moves and turns the card, the animation responds, offering a full 360 degree view.
The video below, from Hallmark, shows many of the licensed cards in action, including the one Disney Princess card which features characters from Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast.
