In the next (and perhaps final) turn in a maze of confusion surrounding a 3D Blu-ray release of Disney’s Frozen, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has independently confirmed to us that there are no announced plans for a 3D release at this time, reminding us that Frozen will be available on Digital 3D on February 25, as per the initial announcement.
The Golden Globes that Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Frozen took home last night for Best Animated Feature was still warm when news that Disney Theatrical was prepping to head to the Broadway stage by way of Fortune.com. The article, which spoke of the film’s momentum, does use the term ‘Broadway’ twice (once in the headline), but never directly attributes it to Bob Iger, the CEO and Chairman of The Walt Disney Company.
After confirming the release of Disney’s Frozen on March 18, 2014, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has now released the list of bonus features that can be found on the Blu-ray edition of the film. You can find additional information below. Frozen is currently available for pre-order from Amazon or from Disney Store, which includes a set of exclusive lithographs. As we also shared earlier, Walmart (who is expected to offer the 3D edition exclusively, but has not yet re-listed it, will be offering an exclusive version coupled with either an Anna or Elsa ‘Disney Infinity’ figure). An HD digital edition of the film will be made available earlier, on February 25.
Take the case of the hotly anticipated home video release of Frozen. Amazon was first to begin accepting pre-orders — even while the film was just debuting in theaters — but this, in essence, has become the norm for Amazon. It’s a given that the product will be released on Blu-ray eventually, so why not accept pre-orders? Only Amazon had also been taking pre-orders for a 3D version of the Blu-ray, one it had to subsequently remove and unceremoniously cancel all orders.
Walt Disney Animation Studios presents a chilly twist on one of the most humorous and heartwarming stories ever told. Disney Animation’s best since The Lion King (William Bibbiani, CraveOnline) will melt your heart. Fearless optimist Anna sets off on an epic journey — teaming up with rugged mountain man Kristoff and his loyal reindeer Sven — to find her sister Elsa, whose icy powers have trapped the kingdom of Arendelle in eternal winter. Encountering Everest-like conditions, mystical trolls and a hilarious snowman named Olaf, Anna and Kristoff battle the elements in a race to save the kingdom. Bring home Frozen on Blu-ray High Definition – featuring a blizzard of never-before-seen bonus extras with gorgeous animation, memorable characters and unforgettable music. It’s dazzling fun for the whole family.
Ahead of any official announcement, both Walmart and Amazonhave begun listing the direct-to-video sequel, The Jungle Book 2, will be making its Blu-ray debut on March 18, 2014, about a month after The Jungle Book Diamond Edition is released.
Below is the description of the release as per Walmart:
