On Sunday, October 13, Disney Publishing Worldwide will formally announce its upcoming graphic novel series, Space Mountain, based on the classic, iconic attraction found in Disney theme parks around the world.
ABC’s hit TV series, “Revenge,” introduced Emily Thorne (portrayed by Emily VanCamp) and her complex mission. The show’s storyline has hinted at Emily’s covert training on remote Rebun Island with master Takeda. Now, from a member of the show’s team, comes Schooled in Revenge (Hyperion Trade Paperback and eBook | August 20, 2013 | $14.99), the first full-length original novel that immerses readers into that training, as a new vengeance-thirsty heroine seeks out Takeda’s guidance to learn how to right terrible wrongs.
In Kingdom Keepers VI: Dark Passage (now available)The Kingdom Keepers and their friends have uncovered a startling truth: Maleficent and the Overtakers (Disney villains) are plotting a catastrophic event that could have repercussions far beyond the world of Disney. Aboard the Disney Cruise Line’s inaugural passage through the new Panama Canal, the Keepers and their holograms uncover a puzzle hidden within the pages of a stolen journal. The point of that puzzle will reveal itself in the caves of Aruba, the zip lines of Costa Rica, and the jungles of Mexico. A destructive force, dormant for decades, is about to be unleashed — and the Kingdom Keepers are to be its first victims.
On the day its new Disney Junior series, ‘Sofia the First,’ launches, Disney has also released Sofia the First: Story Theater for Apple iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad devices.
The app contains two modes: the first is an interactive storybook, a retelling of the Sofia the First: Once Upon a Princess movie which is narrated by Sofia (Ariel Winter) and features audio clips from the movie as well as dozens of individual animations.
First Book and Disney Publishing Worldwide are once again teaming up to fight illiteracy by delivering new books to children of low-income families and the educational systems that serve students of low-income families. Via a Groupon Grassroots campaign, First Book will be accepting donations of $10 per Groupon which will go directly towards providing four new books to children in need. Disney Publishing Worldwide has committed to matching each donation up to a total of one million books.
At the Disney D23 Expo in 2011, Disney Publishing announced it was donating $500K and eight million books to the cause which was founded in 1992 and is now celebrating distributing over 100 million new books in North America.
They are the ultimate stocking stuffer but sadly they won’t be available to own until January 2013. Nevertheless, Entertainment Earth is now accepting pre-orders for the new lines of Funko POP! 3D Bookmarks featuring Disney and Marvel favorites. Building on the incredible success of the POP! vinyl figure lines, Funko is now expanding its selections to include several of the Disney favorites along with some of Marvel’s greatest heroes, combining the forces of the greatest worlds in entertainment with the wonderful world of reading.
