Photos: ‘Brave’ Premiere at Dolby Theater in Hollywood (Hi-Res)
Cast, crew and celebrities came out in full force last night in support of Disney/Pixar’s Brave which opens nationwide on Friday, June 22. Even Princess Merida herself, along with trusty steed Angus, stopped by for some photo ops. The premiere, which also marked the grand opening of the Dolby Theater (formerly Kodak) was held as special presentation for Film Independent’s 2012 Los Angeles Film Festival. An additional screening of the film is being offered tonight for LA FilmFest goers.

‘Brave’ Clip Brawl
Courtesy of Walt Disney Studios New Zealand and Pixar Animation Studios, we have a newly released clip from Brave, which bows into theaters on June 22, 2012.
The clip, titled ‘Brawl,’ overlaps just a bit with the previously released ‘Suitors‘ clip. In the latter clip, we are introduced to Young Macintosh, Young MacGuffin and Wee Dingwall as they are presented to King Fergus and Queen Elinor for consideration of Princess Merida’s hand in marriage. The new clip carries the scene even further with an ensuing brawl that the bear king is forced to put an end to, though a certain set of triplets don’t necessarily seem to agree with that logic.
The rugged and mysterious Highlands of Scotland serve as the backdrop for Brave, a new tale that joins the land’s ancient lore — stories of epic battles and mystical legends passed down for generations. Directed by Mark Andrews and Brenda Chapman, and produced by Katherine Sarafian, Brave is the grand adventure of Merida (voice of Kelly Macdonald), a skilled archer who confronts tradition, destiny and the fiercest of beasts to discover the true meaning of courage.
The film also features the voices of Emma Thompson, Billy Connolly, Julie Walters, Kevin McKidd, Craig Ferguson and Robbie Coltrane. Brave, full of heart, memorable characters and Pixar’s signature humor, takes aim at theaters on June 22, 2012, and will be presented in Disney Digital 3D™ in select theaters.
‘La Luna’ Bambino Plush with Signed Storybook Now Available
Disney Store has released a 12″ plush of Bambino, the star of the upcoming charming short La Luna, coupled with a 9″x9″ 40 page book based on the film which will open in theaters on Friday, playing before Disney/Pixar’s Brave. The accompanying book comes signed by director/writer Enrico Casarosa.
La Luna is the timeless fable of a young boy who is coming of age in the most peculiar of circumstances. Tonight is the very first time his Papa and Grandpa are taking him to work. In an old wooden boat they row far out to sea, and with no land in sight, they stop and wait. A big surprise is in store for the little boy as he discovers his family’s most unusual line of work. Should he follow the example of his Papa, or his Grandpa? Or will he be able to find his own way? This charming picture book is filled with incredible illustrations, and its unique story based on the Disney/Pixar short film is sure to delight.
This combination follows in the footsteps of a Nessie plush/signed book that was released for the Walt Disney Animation Studios’ short The Ballad of Nessie which quickly sold out, so it’s likely this item won’t be available for very long, especially after the short makes its theatrical debut.
For more information or to order this exclusive set, visit its page on DisneyStore.com.

Disney App Lets Users Control ‘Brave’ Flash Game with iOS Device
You may not be able to watch and play Flash content on your Apple iPhone and iPad devices, but thanks to an innovative app from Disney, you can now use your iDevice to control one. The free app, titled Brave Utility, allows players to use the amenities of their Apple iOS device to play a game on Disney’s website that runs on a desktop browser, effectively replacing the mouse.
The game, titled Disney/Pixar’s Brave Ultimate Target Challenge allows the player to virtually shoot arrows at targets, racking up as many points as possible within the allotted time period. The player first chooses their character from the film, each with their own respective stats, then takes the field, selecting one of several different types of arrows to shoot at the targets. Each type of arrow has its own properties and the number of each type of arrow is in limited supply.
While the game can use the mouse to aim and shoot the arrows (and quite well at that), Brave Utility allows players to use the accelerometer to aim and swipe to choose arrows and subsequently shoot them.
An ingenious idea and noble effort to be sure, but certainly not without its challenges. When launching the app (which is designed for iPhone, but works just as well at x2 on the iPad), the player is prompted to enter a code that’s provided by the web game. Unfortunately it took me embarassingly too long to realize that the reason why I could not see a code was because the web app uses ports 843 and 9700 and they were being blocked by my computer’s firewall. Once I temporarily disabled the firewall, however, the app worked as expected. At least up until that point.
The app, using a WiFi connection, seemed amazingly in sync with the Flash game on my PC, but as soon as I would go to fire an arrow, the app would go automatically into pause mode with no way to escape out of it. Unfortunately there was nothing to do until the round ended, leaving me with 0 points. After several attempts, however, I was able to actually play the game using the iPad, only to find the aiming via accelerometer slow and clumsy at best.
The few reviews that have been posted for the app on iTunes seem to have had more successes with it than I, so it’s probably worth trying out and surely your mileage may vary.

‘Brave’ Father’s Day Promo
They did it for Mother’s Day, so it’s only fitting that dads get the royal treatment as well. Disney/Pixar has released a brand new promo for Brave which shares some insight into the strong bonds between Princess Merida and her father, King Fergus. Once again, the film’s track ‘Into the Open Air’ as performed by Julie Fowlis provides the background music for the video.
The rugged and mysterious Highlands of Scotland serve as the backdrop for Brave, a new tale that joins the land’s ancient lore — stories of epic battles and mystical legends passed down for generations. Directed by Mark Andrews and Brenda Chapman, and produced by Katherine Sarafian, Braveis the grand adventure of Merida, a skilled archer who confronts tradition, destiny and the fiercest of beasts to discover the true meaning of courage.
Brave opens in theaters on June 22.
‘Temple Run: Brave’ Now Available on Apple App Store
The Disney/Pixar Brave edition of Temple Run from Imangi Studios and Disney Mobile is now available for Apple iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch devices, ahead of the official June 14 release date. The app is priced at $.99 but includes 2500 ‘free’ coins (coincidentally, a $.99 value).
The Brave edition shares many qualities of the original game that inspired it as you assume the role of Merida, running through the forest and being chased by Mor’du, the demon bear. While all of the same goals and bonuses are available as the original, the game also adds the ability to partake in archery challenges in which Merida takes aim at targets as she runs, simply by tapping on them.
Like the original, there is a store which allows you to activate and increase special bonuses as well as supporting in-app purchases so you can pad your coin stash. A note of caution though: while it may be tempting to add to the virtual bank to unlock the three wallpapers, they are the same as previously released graphics which you can find online for free. Still, providing Merida an in-game change of clothing would be certainly tempting to any fan and understandably so.

‘Bachelorette’ Takes to Highlands of Croatia, Inspired by ‘Brave;’ Rose Ceremony History Made (Spoilers)
The medieval town of Dubrovnik supplies the beauty, and Emily and the remaining eight men provide the fireworks as the romantic world tour continues. The bachelors are hoping that Emily finally will see through Ryan’s bold faade when they go on a one-on-one date. Arie decides to break the rules and risks sneaking out of the guys’ suite to see Emily, but what kind of reception will he get? A group date starts with a special sneak peek screening of the new Disney/Pixar film Brave, but the guys find out that they need to compete for Emily’s attention by dressing in kilts and performing in their own version of the Highland Games, just like in the movie. Finally at the rose ceremony, Emily continues to make bold moves to ensure her future happiness and also makes Bachelorette history, on “The Bachelorette,” Monday, June 1 at 8:00 pm ET/PT on the ABC Television Network.
Although sad to be without her daughter for the first time during this journey, Emily is looking forward to putting the drama of last week behind her and enjoying this magnificent city with her guys. As the men arrive at their suite at the Radisson Blue Resort and Spa, Emily delivers the first date card herself, inviting Travis to “look for love beyond the walls.” The couple explore old town – buying souvenirs, walking the ramparts of the walled city and dancing to local music. Later that evening, at a romantic dinner spot in an ancient fort, Travis opens up about the broken engagement in his past. Will his touching story heat things up with Emily or will he be sent home without a rose?
The next day, six men meet Emily in old town Dubrovnik, where she takes them to a breathtaking historic theater. There they are treated to a VIP sneak peek of Disney/Pixar’s highly anticipated new film Brave (in theaters June 22). The men had better be paying attention because afterwards, mimicking the movie, they will be asked to dress in kilts and compete in their own Highland Games. The bachelors fire arrows, throw logs and test each other’s strength. Although one bachelor dominates the competition, another wins over Emily with his persistence in the face of defeat. The after party finds one handsome man taking Emily on an intimate walk and talk in the streets of Dubrovnik, while another brave suitor offers the Bachelorette his heart.
Ryan is raring to go on his one-on-one date with Emily. She has her own doubts about this charismatic charmer, but wants to keep an open mind. After a romantic drive up the Adriatic coast, stopping to take photos, meet the locals and even harvest oysters, they return to town for an intimate dinner, and Ryan lays out all the qualities he is looking for in a wife. Does Emily fit the bill? This smooth-talking bachelor won’t take “no” for an answer, but will this confident suitor be able to sell Emily on his vision on their future life together?
And later that night, Arie can’t resist slinking out of the hotel to pay Emily a visit. She invites him in and after he kisses her goodnight, he realizes he is falling in love.
Some of the more anxious men use the cocktail party to plead their cases, as one bachelor reveals his vulnerable side while another one assures Emily that he would be her best choice. Emily remains conflicted over which men should receive roses and walks out of the room with the final rose in her hand. How she resolves the problem makes Bachelorette history. The hometown dates loom ahead as the six remaining men and Emily toast to their next spectacular destination: Prague.
The eight remaining men are:
Arie, 30, a race car driver from Scottsdale, AZ
Chris, 25, a corporate sales director from Chicago, IL
Doug, 33, a charity director/realtor from Seattle, WA
Jef, 27, an entrepreneur from Salt Lake City, UT
John “Wolf,” 30, a data destruction specialist from St. Louis, MO
Ryan, 31, a pro sports trainer from Augusta, GA
Sean, 28, an insurance agent from Dallas, TX
Travis, 31, an advertising sales representative from Madison, MS

‘Brave’ New Trailers, Concept Art
Walt Disney Studios and Pixar Animation Studios have provided us with more concept art from their upcoming summer film, Brave, which bows into theaters in just a couple of weeks on June 22. The newly released art focuses on the Witch, her cottage and the Will-o-the-Wisps who, according to Queen Elinor, are just the prescription one needs when tempting to change their fate.
The new concept art has been added to our gallery for the film below.
