The Muppet Build-A-Bear Workshop plush are unique in that they are in fact puppets as inspired by their real-life counterparts, offering a hole in the back of their heads to access the controls to open and close their mouths.
Available as plush are Kermit and Miss Piggy as well as a Kermit Tee and a non-Muppet specific Fuchsia Fringe Dress and matching heels. Aside from the plush, none of the other items are indicated as being web exclusives.
Special thanks to Tough Pigs for the heads up.
Build-A-Bear Workshop® has announced plans to open a store at Orlando International Airport (MCO) in mid-May, the first of its stores to open inside an airport. To be located inside the airport’s main terminal building, the store will offer the full Build-A-Bear experience found elsewhere, allowing guests to select and stuff a furry friend and dress it as they wish.
“We are very excited about our relationship with Orlando International Airport and to bring Build-A-Bear Workshop to this unique location,” said Maxine Clark founder and chief executive bear of Build-A-Bear Workshop. “Making a furry friend is a great way to celebrate a memorable vacation. We think this store is going to be a hit for traveling families.”
The store will also offer Build-A-Bear Workshop Craftshop items that are designed to keep young ones busy during their travel, such as stickers, activity books, coloring books and make-your-own card kits.
“Creating fun, long lasting memories is just part of the ‘Orlando Experience’ at Orlando International Airport (MCO) and it’s also part of what Build-A-Bear Workshop brings to our airport. The addition allows passengers of all ages to take this one-of-a-kind experience in an airport with them on their travels,” said Manager of Concessions for the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority, Linda Baratta.
Although no official word has been provided to us thus as of yet, given that the new store location lends itself easy access to millions of Walt Disney World visitors per year, it’s likely that the store will carry certain limited release Disney merchandise, such as the new Disney Villains line, which would otherwise be available in the Orlando area only at the Florida Mall location. Although Build-A-Bear Workshop does have a location in the Downtown Disney District area at the Disneyland Resort, its only presence on Walt Disney World property is a Build-A-Dino location at the T-Rex Cafe, which does not offer location exclusive merchandise.
Available exclusively at the Downtown Disney Build-A-Bear Workshop in Anaheim, California, the Build-A-Bear Workshop at the Florida Mall in Orlando, the 5th Avenue Build-A-Bear Workshop in New York City and BuildABear.com, the new villains en vogue collection has started with Peter Pan’s Captain Hook and The Little Mermaid’s Ursula. Coming later this summer are Cruella de Vil (May 27) and the most evil-est of them all, Maleficent (August 5).
You can also view the entire Disney collection, which already includes ‘Hanna Montana,’ ‘Wizards of Waverly Place,’ ‘JONAS,’ Disney Princesses, Disney/Pixar and more, online here.
Build-A-Bear Workshop has recently debuted a line of Disney-licensed merchandise centering on the Disney Channel hit comedy, ‘Wizards of Waverly Place,’ which stars Selena Gomez, David Henry and Jake T. Austin in the title roles.
Pictured here is the #1 Fan Wizards of Waverly Place Bear which consists of the 16″ Wizards of Waverly Place bear itself, a 2-piece Wizards of Waverly Place outfit, silver sparkle flats, the Wizards of Waverly Place scarf and the Wizards of Waverly Place bag, all of which are also available separately.
For more information or to purchase the new Wizards of Waverly Place-inspired collection from Disney and Build-A-Bear Workshop, visit BABW online.
To celebrate, Build-A-Bear Stuff for $tuff members (membership is free when purchasing BABW items and accessories) are invited for a special sneak peek and pre-sale opportunity of these unique Disney-themed bears on March 5 between 5 and 7 pm.
On top of that, the first 250 guests to purchase one of the new Downtown Disney Bears at the event will also receive a free Downtown Disney tee for their new friend.

BURBANK, Calif. (Oct. 15, 2009) – ABC Family and Build-A-Bear Workshop® are coming together to create a little holiday “hoofla” this season as the network debuts an animated special that marks the first time in the retailer’s 12-year history that its plush animals are brought to life on television. “Holly and Hal Moose: Our Uplifting Christmas Adventure,” a one-hour feature movie, makes its nationwide premiere on ABC Family on Tuesday, Nov. 24 at 7:00 PM ET/PT (with an encore presentation on Saturday, Nov. 28 at 10 AM ET/PT). The television special is based on a book and series of webisodes that introduced Holly and Hal Moose last year and captured their holiday antics, powerful imaginations and love of adventure.
“Holly and Hal” features Meaghan Martin (“10 Things I Hate About You,” “Camp Rock”) and Jonathan Morgan Heit (“Bedtime Stories”) as the voices of Easton and Weston (respectively), two high-strung elves who monitor the North Pole Weather Center. In addition, an exclusive theme song, “When You Dream,” was created for the movie by Tena Clark, award-winning music producer, song writer and CEO/chief creative officer of DMI Music & Media Solutions.
“Holly and Hal were our first characters to inspire a storybook, and now they’re the first to become movie stars,” said Maxine Clark, founder and chief executive bear of Build-A-Bear Workshop. “The tale of this antlered-sibling duo is meant to inspire people to follow their dreams – no matter how big they seem. It’s a classic holiday adventure that offers families the opportunity to start a new tradition of watching it together each season.”
