Kouzzina by Cat Cora at Walt Disney World to Offer Chef’s Table Experience

Fresh from a brief refurbishment, Kouzzina by Cat Cora, located at Walt Disney World’s Boardwalk Resort, has received a few new updates including a chef’s table experience.

Among the changes included are new exterior signage and a new Cat Cora presence in the lobby with three video monitors with images and text that flow from one to the next, showcasing the celebrity chef’s views on food, family and her culinary journey. Chef Cat’s branded product line also is for sale in the lobby, including Greek olive oil, olives, tapenades and spreads.

WDW Refurbs Update: Kouzzina Plus Extended Closures at Animal Kingdom, Saratoga Springs

We have four newly listed refurbishments at the Walt Disney World Resort to share with you.

First up is Kouzzina by Cat Cora at Disney’s Boardwalk Inn. The restaurant will be closed for a couple of weeks beginning on November 29 and re-opening on December 15.

Beginning December 3, the Paddock leisure pool at Disney’s Saratoga Springs DVC Resort will close for an extended refurbishment and is currently scheduled to re-open on June 30, 2011.

WDW Refurb Update: Pool Slide Closures at Stormalong Bay, Boardwalk Inn in Early 2011

The pool and kid slide at Stormalong Bay at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club will be closed for refurbishment from January 3, 2011 through February 2, 2011 while the pool side at the Boardwalk Inn and Villas will be closed for refurbishment from February 7, 2011 through March 16, 2011.

During this time, guests may continue to make full use of the remainder of the pool and quiet pools and may opt to use the pool at the alternating resort if the use of a slide is desired. Traditionally speaking, a shuttle is offered between the resorts when the pools undergo refurbishments.

‘Flying’ Under the Radar, ‘Dining with an Imagineer’ Dinner Option Returns

Thanks to the Disney Food Blog, we have learned that the fabulous and exclusive ‘Dining with an Imagineer’  program is once again offering the dinner option, this time at the Flying Fish Cafe at Disney’s Boardwalk Resort. Although the program has always offered a lunch option at Disney’s Hollywood Studio’s, Hollywood Brown Derby, the dinner has been touch-and-go, last offered at Artist Point, but some time ago.

WDW Refurb Update: Pool Closures at Pop Century, Boardwalk Inn

The existing scheduled refurbishments for the Bowling and Computer pools at Pop Century have been swapped with the dates remaining the same.

Additionally, the Luna Park pool at the Boardwalk Inn will close on January 18 and re-open on February 6. At this time, the leisure pools will remain open and guests of the Boardwalk Inn may access Stormalong Bay at the Beach & Yacht Club (shuttle service provided).

Other notable restaurants where you have worked: Before coming to Disney, I worked at the New York Hilton and the Roosevelt Hotel in New York City. In my 18 years at Walt Disney World Resort, I have worked everywhere in the theme parks from Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano and The Hollywood Brown Derby at Disney’s Hollywood Studios to Cinderella’s Royal Table, Tony’s Town Square and Crystal Palace in Magic Kingdom.  In Disney resorts, I’ve worked at Disney’s Pop Century Resort, Shutters at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, and Chef Mickey’s and Contempo Cafe at Disney’s Contemporary Resort.

Your biggest inspiration? My mom taught me everything I know about respecting food, flavors and tradition.

Describe your culinary style: Uncomplicated with big flavors from fresh ingredients.  Live simply, eat big!

What do you enjoy most about being a chef? The incomparable emotion of being in a kitchen entertaining guests.  And also leading a passionate culinary team to orchestrate a great meal.

Food Network’s Iron Chef Plays Cat and Mouse at Disney’s Boardwalk

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (March 17, 2009) — Chef Cat Cora and Disney are joining together to open an exciting new family dining restaurant at Disney’s BoardWalk Resort. Kouzzina by Cat Cora will feature a menu of Mediterranean-style cuisine that pays tribute to the chef’s Greek roots.

The restaurant, to be owned and operated by Disney, is scheduled to open by fall 2009 in the space currently occupied by Spoodles.
