Tokyo Disneyland: Heck No, EO Won’t Go!
Despite original intentions to return ‘Captain EO’ back to the vault on June 30, 2011, the Tokyo Disneyland Resort today announced that the attraction will instead remain at the park indefinitely, forcing the permanent closure of the attraction it displaced, ‘MicroAdventure!’
Tokyo Disneyland, which is owned and operated by the Oriental Land Company under license of The Walt Disney Company, has been the only Disney Resort to acknowledge an end date for the attraction which has returned to Disneyland, Walt Disney World’s Epcot and Disneyland Paris.

Comedienne and Academy Award-winning actress Mo’Nique poses July 2, 2010 with a pair of 3-D glasses and one Mickey Mouse glove — a la Michael Jackson — as she prepares to visit “Captain EO” on the film’s grand re-opening day at Epcot in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. The musical 3-D film, which stars Michael Jackson, was presented at Epcot from 1986-1994. After a long hiatus, the space adventure film re-opened July 2 at the Walt Disney World Resort theme park. Mo’Nique, who received an Academy Award for her role in “Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire,” also was among the 135 artists, performers and executives invited on June 25, 2010 to join the prestigious Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Video: ‘Captain EO’ Returns to Disneyland Paris Resort
Captain EO returned to the Disneyland Paris theme park today and hundreds of fans of Michael Jackson and the attraction were on hand to celebrate.
Disneyland Paris has released the following video capturing the event. While it’s mostly in French (and my french is admittedly a bit weak), I think it’s safe to say that someone must’ve commented how easy it is to impersonate Michael Jackson when you cover your entire face. On that note, kudos to the fan with the (hopefully) prosthetic nose. There are some fans who speak in English as well as some footage of the attraction’s film towards the end.
‘Captain EO’ Completes World Tour; Returns to Disneyland Paris in June, Epcot in July
Although there were perpetual rumors stemming from hope when the Disneyland Resort first announced the return of Captain EO for a limited time engagement, Disney Parks and Resorts successfully blindsided everyone this morning when they announced that it would not only return to Epcot this summer but would also return to Disneyland Paris, completing the circle of life.
The attraction will first re-open at Disneyland Paris on June 12, followed by Tokyo Disneyland on June 30 and finally at Walt Disney World’s Epcot on July 2.
It is official: he is back to change the World — for a limited time.
Tokyo Disneyland Welcomes the Return of ‘Captain EO’
Following the recent move by the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, Captain EO will soon return to the Tokyo Disneyland Resort, presented by JCB. The attraction, which returns on July 1, originally ran at the resort from March 20, 1987 until September 1, 1996.
Captain EO will be available at Tokyo Disneyland through June 30, 2011 and will replace MicroAdventure! which will close on May 10, 2010 for the switch. FASTPASS will be available.

Set Phasers to Fun: ‘Captain EO’ Returns to Disneyland on February 23
Disneyland officially announced today that Captain EO starring the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson, will make it’s Disneyland re-debut on February 23.
The resort does note that some of the special effects from the original installation of the film will not be part of the return limited engagement, but that it will use a new print of the film and the sound has been greatly enhanced.
‘Captain EO’ Mea Culpa on Disneyland Debut Date; Will Closing Date Work?
After a question arose earlier today on Twitter in regards to our initial report that Honey, I Shrunk the Audience was scheduled to be closed until January 29, making the assumption it would re-open as Captain Eo, we went back and confirmed with the original source which has since been updated and currently reads as closed until January 29, 2011.
So someone made an unfortunate, honest mistake, either us for initially mis-reading it, or they for publishing the wrong year, but it looks like all we currently can surmise is that Captain Eo should be running at least through the remainder of the year before closing to switch back to HISTA which will re-open on January 29, 2011. In either case, we apologize for the mis-information.
‘Captain EO’ to Return to Disneyland for Limited Engagement on January 29
In anticipation of the return engagement of Captain EO to the Disneyland Resort, ‘Honey, I Shrunk the Audience’ in Disneyland’s Tomorrowland closes today and, according to an official refurbishment schedule, is expected to re-open on January 29, presumably as Captain EO, starring Michael Jackson.

‘Captain EO’ to Return to Disneyland for Exclusive, Limited Engagement
Via its blog, Disney Parks confirmed today that the longstanding rumor that Captain EO will return to Disneyland will in fact happen, albeit for a limited engagement of an as-of-yet unspecified time. In anticipation of the film’s return in February, Honey, I Shrunk the Audience will close within a few weeks for the change-over.
More details should be forthcoming on the Parks’ blog as they’re made available.
