New Game Trailers for ‘Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension’ and ‘Cars 2′ Released
Disney Interactive Studios has released two new trailers today in support of its summer releases, ‘Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension’ and ‘Cars 2.’
Based on the Disney Channel Original Movie of the same title, the PlayStation®3 system and Wii system versions of ‘Phineas and Ferb’ will allow fans to play as up to 10 characters. Players will have the option to work together in two-player cooperative modes while navigating through an old time 1928-style cartoon world, a lawn gnome land and a gelatin world. In a mission to save the world, players will journey through 25 exciting levels while overcoming obstacles. They also can upgrade cool new gadgets including the Carbonator, which fires carbonated orange soda that can melt enemies and Ninja Gloves, which allows players to stick to walls. Along the way, fans will collect cool items and unlock additional playable characters, including a new OWCA special agent created specifically for the video game. The PlayStation® 3 system version will also be the first time a Phineas and Ferb video game features PlayStation®Move motion controller compatible gameplay.
In the DS version of ‘Phineas and Ferb: Across the Second Dimension,’ fans will play as Phineas, Ferb or Agent P. Players will jump, dodge, race and battle through five outrageous worlds featuring more than 30 levels. Players will work to earn gadget upgrades including a baseball launcher and Agent P’s favorite gadget – the grapple gun, while solving environmental puzzles in an effort to save Alternate Danville.
Disney Interactive has also announced that show creators Dan Povenmire and Jeff ‘Swampy’ Marsh will be at E3 on June 8 to meet with fans. Fans are encouraged to follow @DisneyE3 on Twitter.
‘Phineas and Ferb: Across the Second Dimension’ will be available to own for the Sony PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS on August 2 and is currently available for pre-order from Amazon.com.
Not to be outdone, another game trailer for ‘Cars 2′ titled ‘Elite Agents’ was released today. ‘Cars 2′ will be available to own on June 21 for all major gaming consoles and is currently available for pre-order from Amazon.com.

‘Cars 2′ Soundtrack to Highlight International Music Superstars – Full Details Released
Fully loaded with global locales, fast-paced racing, international espionage and a touching tale of friendship, Cars 2 also features an amped up score by Oscar® and GRAMMY®-winning composer Michael Giacchino, plus music from alternative rock legends Weezer, country music hitmaker Brad Paisley, bestselling British singer/songwriter Robbie Williams, French superstar Bénabar and the power pop Japanese girl band Perfume. The international lineup puts the tune in tune-up as the Cars characters hit the road on a worldwide tour full of epic adventure.
Cars 2 is the fourth Pixar feature score for Giacchino, who has previously composed the music for The Incredibles, Ratatouille, and Up, along with half a dozen short films from the Studio. “Michael is doing such a cool score for the film,” says director John Lasseter. “We did not want to do a typical spy movie score. We wanted it to be something very different–a whole new approach.”
“John [Lasseter] knows the story,” says Giacchino. “He knows what his characters need and what they want. That’s how to discuss music—in emotions. If Mater is feeling left out, I can translate that into music. I love working with the people at Pixar because they all talk in terms of story and that’s how I love to work.”
Giacchino also wrote a French song called “Mon coeur fait vroum,” (“My Heart Goes Vroom”) which is sung for the film by the popular and admired French singer/songwriter Bénabar, providing a musical introduction to Paris. The lyrics for the song are by Giacchino and Scott Langteau with French adaptation by Boualem Lamhene. Bénabar’s self-titled album, released in 2001, launched a phenomenally successful singing career. In 2006, his album, “Reprise de Negociations,” was a top seller in Europe, and led to several major music industry awards the following year.
Providing their own unique take on the 1984 pop hit, “You Might Think” (written by Ric Ocasek and originally performed by The Cars) is the chart-topping, multi-platinum-selling American alternative rock band Weezer. Weezer burst on the scene in 1992, and has produced nine albums to date. “The song is going to play in the scene where Lightning McQueen and Mater go to Japan,” says Weezer’s Brian Bell, “which is great for us because it sort of mirrors our experiences in Japan—there was a little bit of culture shock.”
Bell says the band was surprised at the complexity of the song. “When we really dug deep into the song, we saw the genius of the arrangement and how all these relatively simplistic parts worked together to create this amazing fabric of sound.”
Multiple GRAMMY®-winning country superstar and Country Music Association Entertainer of the Year Brad Paisley, who was a major contributor to the first Cars soundtrack with the songs “Behind the Clouds” (written with Frank Rogers) and “Find Yourself,” returns with two new songs for Cars 2. Says Lasseter, “Brad and I became close friends during the making of Cars. For Cars 2, he and Robbie [Williams] have teamed up to do this really cool rock ‘n roll song. It’s something very different from what Brad normally does, but he and Robbie have created a fantastic song that captures the friendship of McQueen and Mater over the end credits.” Adds Paisley, “The song is a rock vocal event with one of the most talented people I’ve ever met, Robbie Williams. It was John’s idea to bring these two worlds together – combining the English and American takes on music. We’re both out of our comfort zone, seeing what happens when you’re forced into going new places, which is really what Cars 2 is about. It’s totally parallel to the story.”
The song, “Collision of Worlds,” is written and performed as a duet with Paisley and Williams, the talented, award-winning singer/songwriter who has achieved incredible fame as a solo performer and as a member of the group Take That. Williams has sold more than 57 million albums worldwide, and is one of Britain’s all-time top selling recording artists. “It’s an international kind of song that’s inspired very much by the film–it wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for the story,” says Williams. “Brad turned up with his guitar and a basic understanding of what he wanted the song to sound like. He played me a few chords and we noodled and twiddled our way into forming this song. It’s back and forth colloquialisms between two different countries speaking the same language and not understanding each other—until now.”
A second song, “Nobody’s Fool,” is written and performed by Paisley. “It’s inspired by the most heartbreaking scene in the movie,” says Paisley. “Mater realizes that everybody thinks he’s playing the fool and he becomes sort of enlightened and realizes that he’s not playing the fool—he is one. But Mater realizes he is who he is and that was inspiring to me.”
Japanese girl band Perfume’s hit single “Polyrhythm” will also be featured in the film when Lightning and Mater attend the World Grand Prix opening night gala in Tokyo.
Cars 2 races into theaters on June 24, 2011. The soundtrack from Walt Disney Records will be available June 14 and is now available for pre-order from Amazon.com

D23 Expo: Lasseter Reveals Details on Cars 2
Cars 2, due out in summer of 2011, finds its foundation when Lightning McQueen is invited to participate in the International Race of Champions, a world-wide race in which McQueen competes against all genres of racing cars.
Inspired by the press junkets Lasseter used to make around the world while promoting Cars, Lasseter said he often found himself wondering ‘What would Mater do?’ when encountering all of the different types of unique driving experiences around the world, such as driving on the other side of the road in London, the roundabout in Paris, viewing scooters in Italy as gnats, etc.
So when Lightning takes off to compete around the world, he brings Mater along as his crew chief and the rest of the characters as his pit crew. They start off in Japan where they race through downtown Tokyo, through the Black Forest of Germany (where Mater also attends Oktoberfest in his ‘materhosen’), the Porto Cosa in Italy, through the streets of Paris and finally past Buckingham Palace in London, passing along the iconic ‘Big Bentley’ along the way.
But all is not what it seems in what turns into — in the words of Lasseter — a Hitchcockian thriller when clueless Mater inadvertently saves the life of a British spy in the form of Finn McMissle, a car straight out of a James Bond movie.
Believing noone can simply be as dumb as Mater, McMissle believes it to be a clever cover and decides that Mater himself must be a super secret agent and leads Mater into a life of intrigue and suspense.
Along with the expected puns such as Big Bentley, Lasseter showed off a lot of concept art, including how each of the international locales have been stylized to marry the automotive world in Cars. Examples include a dashboard replacing the cuckcoo clock on a glockenspiel in Germany and the wheel-ized base of the Eiffel tower in Paris.
All New Disney/Pixar ‘Cars Toons’ Rev Up on Disney Channel, Disney XD and ABC Family
All-new episodes of Disney•Pixar’s “Cars Toons,” an animated short series directed by Academy Award©-winner John Lasseter with Rob Gibbs co-directing and starring Lightning McQueen’s rusty friend Mater, will debut beginning FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 20 on Disney Channel, Disney XD and ABC Family. They are titled “Unidentified Flying Mater,” “Monster Truck Mater,” “Heavy Metal Mater” and “Tokyo Mater.”
Mark Mothersbaugh (“Devo”) composed the music for three episodes and BT (“The Fast and the Furious”), a prominent composer of dance and electronic music, scored “Tokyo Mater.”
The four new stories follow the popular shorts that began debuting in October 2008 and which have reached 22.9 million Kids 2-11, or 56% of all kids in that age group in the U.S., and 67.5 million total unique viewers.
“Cars Toons” are directed by John Lasseter, (“Cars,” “Toy Story 2,” “A Bug’s Life” and “Toy Story”) and co-directed by Rob Gibbs (“Cars,” “Finding Nemo,” “Monsters, Inc” and “Toy Story 2″). Kori Rae (“The Incredibles” and “Monsters Inc.”) is the producer. Victor Navone (“Cars,” “The Incredibles,” “Finding Nemo” and “Monsters, Inc.”) co-directed the episode “Tokyo Mater.”
In “Unidentified Flying Mater,” premiering Friday, November 20 on Disney Channel, Mater meets a cute little bucktoothed UFO named Mator, takes him out for a night of fun and they quickly become best friends. But when Mator is captured by the military, Mater and Lightning McQueen come to the rescue.
