LEGO: Life-size model of Lightning McQueen from Disney/Pixar's 'Cars 2'

Although it seems like just two weeks ago that LEGO master builder Erik Varszegi unveiled his impressively detailed salute to Captain Jack Sparrow from the Pirates of the Caribbean films, yesterday morning saw a reveal that left jaws at the New York International Toy Fair on the floor: a lifesize replica of Lightning McQueen from Disney/Pixar’s Cars 2, just in time for the launch of its new line of LEGO sets honoring the franchise. Requiring more than 2,000 man hours to complete, the LEGO Lightning McQueen is made up of more than 325,000 LEGO bricks, measures 12.5 feet long, 6.5 feet wide and 4.5 feet high and weighs about three tons.

‘Cars 2′ Character Preveal: Niles Gearsley and Miles Axelrod

If you can forgive the poor quality of the images, here’s your first look at new characters from the upcoming Disney/Pixar summer blockbuster, Cars 2. As the studio hasn’t officially released them yet, the images are not yet available for publication, but here you’ll see Niles Gearsley from his Miles Axelrod from Disney/Pixars 'Cars 2'turntable video and part of the official publicity photo for Miles Axelrod. Of course we’ll post proper images and complete character descriptions as they become available.

The characters were revealed this morning as part of a Disney/Pixar Cars 2 presentation at the 2011 New York International Toy Fair.

Disney/Pixar Unveils Lifesize R/C Replica of Finn McMissile; Will Tour United States

img_1258 At the Disney/Pixar media and Disney D23 event for Cars 2 held during the 2011 New York International Toy Fair, Disney unveiled a life-size replica of one the film’s newest stars, Finn MicMissile (as voiced by Michael Caine). In addition to his good looks and loud, perpetually revving engine, McMissile is a first in that he’s completely radio controlled. Finn will be joined with full-scale (and R/C) Lightning McQueen and Tow Mater as they tour the country later this year in association with State Farm.

Hasbro Puts New Spin on Classic Board Games for Disney, ‘Cars 2,’ ‘Pirates,’ and More

Parker Brothers has been synonymous with classic board games beloved by families for generations. From Monopoly to Sorry! to Trouble to the (relative) new kid on the block, Trivial Pursuit, and more, no family game night is has been complete without at least one of them.

For Disney/Pixar’s Cars 2, however, at the 2011 New York International Toy Fair, parent company Hasbro is shifting into higher gear, offering expanded and improved gameplay on the classics, taking full advantage of the Pixar property’s theming. Unfortunately due to restrictions due to the sensitivity of details from the film not yet revealed, we are unable to share any photos at this time, but we will do our best to describe the enhanced gameplay involved. As it was, many of the graphics were covered as they pertained to unreleased details from the film.

Disney/Pixar ‘Cars 2′ Meet John Lassetire

Disney/Pixar just rolled out this new character from Cars 2 today, John Lassetire. Inspired by a cameo by George Lucas in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, film producer Denise Ream decided to create a car modeled after John Lasseter himself.

In this AP article, Lasseter describes his namesake as ‘a good ol’ American pick-up truck.’ Lassetire’s role in the film is further described as the pit crew chief for a high-profile race car.

Mattel Previews 2011 Toy Collection for ‘Cars 2,’ Disney Princesses

Just a couple of days ahead of New York’s International Toy Fair, Mattel has previewed just some of its new products for 2011 centering on Disney’s hottest properties: Cars 2 from Disney/Pixar and the Disney Princess collection.

In the small village of Santa Ruotina, near Porto Corsa, Luigi’s favorite uncle, Uncle Topolino, resides with his beloved wife, Mama Topolino. Uncle Topolino is the owner of the village’s tire shop, where he taught Luigi and Guido everything they know, though Uncle Topolino is full of sage advice about more than just tires.

‘Cars 2′ Turntable and Profile for Francesco Bernoulli


Francesco Bernoulli (voiced by John Turturro) grew up in the shadow of the famous Monza race course in Italy where he and his friends would sneak onto the track and race the famous Pista di Alta Velocita bank turn. He was an instant winner on the amateur circuit and soon became an international Formula Racer champion. The ladies love Francesco’s open wheels, youngsters look up to his winning spirit and fellow racers envy his speed. But Francesco’s biggest fan is Francesco himself, as evidenced by his racing number. As the most famous race car in Europe, #1 Francesco is a favorite to win the World Grand Prix, which also makes him Lightning McQueen’s chief rival.

‘Cars 2′ Turntables for Grem and Acer

Walt Disney Studios and Disney/Pixar have just released two new turntable videos for new Cars 2 characters Grem (voiced by Joe Mantegna) and Acer (voiced by Peter Jacobson).

In Cars 2, all the world’s a racetrack as racing superstar Lightning McQueen zooms back into action, with his best friend Mater in tow, to take on the globe’s fastest and finest in this thrilling high-octane new installment of the Cars saga. Mater and McQueen will need their passports as they find themselves in a new world of intrigue, thrills and fast-paced comedic escapades around the globe.
