‘Electric Holiday’ to Bring Disney to Barneys New York Windows Holiday Display
Barneys New York, the luxury specialty retailer, and The Walt Disney Company, the world’s leading entertainment company, announced today their collaboration on the 2012 Holiday campaign at Barneys New York retail venues: Electric Holiday. A multi-platform initiative infused with fashion and fantasy, Electric Holiday will merge the creativity and magic of Disney with the wit and surprise of the legendary Barneys New York annual holiday campaign to create a celebration of festive modern electric lights, music and fashion.
Beginning in mid-November, the Barneys New York Madison Avenue windows will serve as the centerpiece of the Electric Holiday campaign in which an exclusive moving art short created by Disney artists, will be showcased amid a celebration of lights. Disney has also created a modern, three-dimensional electric light show that will encompass the Madison Avenue store entrance and showcase the moving art housed within the windows. To accompany the façade and moving art, Oscar®-winning composer Michael Giacchino is creating an original score of highly-charged music to bring the show to life.
The Electric Holiday program and the Madison Avenue flagship’s windows will be unveiled on November 14th. Air France will be supporting the Holiday 2012 campaign with an integrated promotion and the Electric Holiday light show will feature innovative display technology, using Christie® MicroTiles®, from Christie Digital Systems USA, Inc.
“The legendary characters and world created by Disney live in the active mind and memory of virtually every citizen of the world,” said Mark Lee, Barneys New York CEO. “Barneys New York has been privileged to collaborate with Disney and its remarkable talents this holiday season on the Electric Holiday campaign, which places these iconic characters into the center of our fashion world.”
“In the tradition of legendary New York Holiday retail campaigns, Electric Holiday is a festive extravaganza that will delight people of all ages,” said Bob Chapek, president of Disney Consumer Products. “From the stunning visuals, to iconic Disney storytelling and unique merchandise assortment, this collaboration with the venerable Barney’s New York is a celebration worthy of the season.”
Electric Holiday is a fusion of some of the most creative minds, a collaboration comprised of the Barneys New York team under the direction of Creative Director Dennis Freedman and Disney veterans Luis Fernandez, senior vice president of global creative, Disney Consumer Products, and John Quinn, Disney character art director.
The Electric Holiday moving art will feature models inspired by Minnie Mouse and Mickey Mouse as well as other iconic Disney characters as they star in a fantasy Paris runway show, capturing the essence of the high-fashion world along with the electrically-charged colors and brilliant lights of the magical world of Disney. Minnie and Mickey are transported into a fantasy world where they are transformed from their traditional Disney form into dream-like fashion-forward runway models, and are joined on the Paris runway by five other models evocative of other iconic Disney personalities: Goofy, Daisy Duck, Snow White, Princess Tiana, and Cruella de Vil.
Each transformed Disney model is dressed in a one-of a-kind exclusive look created by some of the most influential fashion designers in the world, including: Nicholas Ghesquière for Balenciaga, Oliver Rousteing for Balmain, Dolce & Gabbana, Alber Elbaz for Lanvin, Peter Copping for Nina Ricci, Proenza Schouler, and Rick Owens.
To fully bring the iconic Disney characters into the Barneys world, true fashion insiders will be featured within the moving art short, from designers featured in the fantasy runway show, to revered hair and make-up artists, photographers, respected journalists and editors, and the celebrities and notable guests that typically attend the high profile shows. The result depicts a unique, fantasy Paris show with all of the real-world elements of backstage, front-row and runway in illustrated form.
Barneys New York has worked to create a range of exclusive (XO), limited-edition holiday gift items, which will be available for a limited time only at Chelsea Passage on the ninth floor in Barneys’ Madison Avenue flagship location in New York, at select Barneys New York locations nationwide and Barneys.com. Disney World Candlelight Processional Celebrity Narrators Partially Announced for 2012
Walt Disney World has begun announcing its celebrity narrators for its Candlelight Processional performances which will take place this year during the ‘Holidays Around the World’ celebration at Epcot from November 23 through December 30, 2012.
The shows will take place at the America Gardens Theatre, located across the American Adventure pavilion. Shows are free with seating available on a standby basis, or through priority seating which is offered via special dinner and lunch packages from table service restaurants at Epcot. Park admission is separate and required regardless.

This holiday season, ‘America’s Funniest Home Videos’ celebrates from the Disneyland® Resort in California, with host Tom Bergeron highlighting the best classic Christmas videos in ‘AFHV’ history, along with all-new clips. The exciting episode includes: videos featuring the hazards of decorating, as lights, mantels, trees and people all go down; videos of kids reacting to lousy gifts, or causing mayhem during recitals, or the hilarious things they say while sitting on Santa’s lap; and videos of cats and dogs getting in on the Christmas mischief as they investigate gifts and decorations.

‘Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade’ Details Announced for 2011
Deck the castles with boughs of holly and tune in as Disneyland Resort in California and Walt Disney World Resort in Florida present the 28th annual “Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade” TV special that will air December 25 on ABC-TV. Hosts of the telecast are Nick Cannon and Mario Lopez, with co-host Maria Menounos. Stars will shine and sparkle, as the Christmas Day parade telecast features four-time GRAMMY Award® winning singer Christina Aguilera and headliner, teen sensation Justin Bieber. The star-studded spectacular spreads good tidings with bicoastal performances from Academy Award®-winning actress and multi-platinum singer Jennifer Hudson, singer/songwriter and producer Cee Lo Green, platinum-record rockers OneRepublic,”American Idol” Season 10 winner and country crooner Scotty McCreery, and the McClain Sisters, featuring “A.N.T. Farm” star China Ann McClain, among others.

The Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade features exciting appearances from soundsational stars and many favorite characters, bringing tidings of holly jolly joy to viewers.
- Backed by a choir, Academy Award®- and GRAMMY Award®-winning artist Jennifer Hudson brings the show to a celebratory close with a very merry holiday medley of “Joy to the World,” “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing” and “Go Tell It on the Mountain.” It is a homecoming of sorts for Hudson, as her own dreams of stardom began when she was a Disney performer aboard Disney Cruise Line in 2003. In January 2011 she was named the
Honorary Fairy Godmother of the most recent Disney Cruise Line ship to set sail, the Disney Dream. - Direct from Broadway, Mary Poppins and Bert will make a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious holiday appearance during the telecast. The smash musical “Mary Poppins” just celebrated five years on Broadway and has enchanted more than 3 million guests at the New Amsterdam Theatre in New York City. The hit musical also is making its
way across North America. - Zendaya and Bella Thorne of the Disney Channel hit show, “Shake it Up,” show fans how to jingle bell rock with a special high-energy dance performance down Main Street, U.S.A. in the Magic Kingdom.
- The Never Land Pirate Band will be joined by characters from the Disney Junior hit show, Jake and the Never Land Pirates. The buccaneer band makes its parade debut with an original, pirate-themed holiday tune.
- The McClain Sisters, featuring “A.N.T. Farm” star China Anne McClain make it a family affair at Disneyland Resort, collaborating on “Jingle Bell Rock.”
- Everyone’s favorite balcony-sitting curmudgeons, Statler and Waldorf, from The Muppets will make a special appearance at the Magic Kingdom and offer their unique brand of commentary while perched high above Main
Street, U.S.A. Kermit the Frog and Gonzo also will bring more Muppetational fun with a special appearance from Walt Disney World Resort - Disney Pearl Series recording artists Nathan Pacheco and Katherine Jenkins serenade the crowd with an awe-inspiring version of “O Holy Night,” joined by Academy Award® winner Marlee Matlin and ABC Family’s
Katie Leclerc and Sean Berdy. - “American Idol” Season 10 Winner Scotty McCreery brings some country flavor to the show with his rendition of the classic tune, “A Holly Jolly Christmas.”
- Pop-rock hitmaking group OneRepublic performs on the Sleeping Beauty Castle stage at Disneyland Park, reminding guests to make the most of each memorable moment with the hit single “Good Life.”
- Soulful singer/songwriter Cee Lo Green takes the stage to perform a holiday favorite, “This Christmas.”
- International singing sensation Justin Bieber leaves fans grinning ear to ear with a medley of performances from his new Christmas album. The medley includes “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town” and the album’s title-track, “Mistletoe,” and is performed on the Cinderella Castle stage at Magic Kingdom Park.
- “The Voice” judge and award-winning singer Christina Aguilera performs “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” from Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa at Disneyland Resort.
Television, radio and film personality Nick Cannon will host from Disneyland Resort in California, while actor, best-selling author and entertainment journalist Mario Lopez will host from Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.TV personality, journalist and best-selling author Maria Menounos will co-host from Walt Disney World. Travel expert and television personality Samantha Brown checks in as the show’s travel correspondent, offering viewers a sleigh-full of Disney fun around the globe. Brown will provide a look at the new Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa in Hawai’i, Adventures by Disney vacations, what’s new (and what’s next!) at both Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort, and a preview of the newest Disney Cruise Line ship (currently under construction), the Disney Fantasy.
- What better time of year to reunite with old pals than Christmas? Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Pluto, Donald Duck and Goofy are decked out in their holiday best, savoring the season with their Disney Parks family. Thanks to a dash of pixie dust, Santa and his reindeer also appear on Main Street U.S.A. – and in living rooms across the county – during a special visit from the North Pole. The parade will showcase the Disney cast of characters from both Disneyland Park in California and the Magic Kingdom Park in Florida.
- It’s a very merry moment when the one and only Santa Claus glides down Main Street, U.S.A. with his trusted reindeer leading the way.
- The famous Disney Parks Toy Soldiers take their traditional jubilant march down the parade route with the jolly Gingerbread Men following close behind.
- Three of the “pup-ular” canine stars of the upcoming Disney Blu-ray(TM) & DVD film “Treasure Buddies” make a special appearance, riding with adventurers and explorers aboard their very own treasure chest parade
float. - Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs add a little sparkle to the celebration with a glimmering gemstone float topped with a diamond-encrusted Christmas tree.
- Buzz Lightyear soars to infinity and beyond with his “Toy Story” cohorts Woody and Jessie. Also revving up the holiday fun: Disney-Pixar pals Lightning McQueen and Tow Mater from the blockbuster films “Cars” and
“Cars 2.” - Disney Princesses Cinderella, Snow White, Belle, Sleeping Beauty and Jasmine spread good cheer as they parade down Main Street, U.S.A. accompanied by their handsome beaus.
- Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse bring joy to guests as they pass by on an iconic Christmas tree float.
- Disney XD stars and theme park favorites Phineas and Ferb get in the groove with a whimsical version of their hit show’s theme song, “Gitchee Gitchee Goo.” Also making an appearance, the show’s famed crime-fighter, Agent P.
