Sneak Peek: ‘Cinderella Diamond Edition’ Bonus Features, Alternate Opening and ‘Real Fairy Godmother’
Courtesy of Walt Disney Studios UK, where the Cinderella Diamond Edition Blu-ray has already released, we catch a (literal) glimpse of some of the bonus features that will be available when the Blu-ray is released on October 2, 2012.
Among the new bonus features are an introduction to the film presented by Diane Disney Miller, a recently discovered alternate opening and a segment titled ‘The Real Fairy Godmother,’ a documentary that examines the life of Mary Alice O’Connor who married Disney animator and Imagineer Ken O’Connor and inspired the character of Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother.
Presented here first is a portion of the introduction of the film by Walt Disney’s daughter, Diane Disney Miller:
Here is some of an animated storyboarded recently discovered in the Walt Disney Archives, which are believed to be a possible alternate opening to Cinderella:
Finally, below are some clips from ‘The Real Fairy Godmother’ which not only discuss the life of Mary Alice O’Connor, but go into other design aspects from the film, including the Pumpkin Coach:

Cinderella Limited Edition Doll Pre-Order Available; Sneak Peek at Future Collection
Disney Store today began launching its Cinderella Premiere Collection in honor of the diamond edition Cinderella blu-ray being released later this year. The showpiece of the collection, as has become recent tradition, is the gorgeous Limited Edition Cinderella doll, which is now available for pre-order to own on October 2, 2012.
Limited to just 5,000 dolls, the Cinderella doll includes a certificate of authenticity and features a satin bodice covered with rhinestones, full peplum with layers of tulle and organza detailed with rhinestones, ebony bead choker, opera gloves dotted with silver rhinestones and a glittering headband with hair clip. For more information or to pre-order the doll, click here.
While Disney Store has listed several more items (mostly ones we have previously shared having found at Disney Store Times Square some weeks ago), we had the opportunity earlier this year at a Disney Holiday Preview event sponsored by Disney Consumer Products to view a much larger portion of the collection including several pieces that have yet to be released.
In addition to fashion tees inspired by Cinderella and Prince Charming, as well as jewelry from Disney Couture, the collection will include a lobby card inspired-art on several items including a tote and change purse. In addition, as part of its 25th Anniversary, Disney Store will be releasing a very limited edition (just 250 pieces worldwide) replica of Cinderella’s glass slipper. Details on how the slipper will be sold are not yet available, but you’ll no doubt want to keep an eye out for it.
For girls, Disney Store will be releasing its coveted limited edition dress. The special edition dress which is known for often selling out quickly features a musical element via a charm necklace that plays ‘A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes.’ Disney Store will also be re-issuing its Cinderella doll from the Animator’s Collection, this time complete with two dresses and accessories which include some animal friends. The bad news is that at this time, Cinderella is the only one to be getting the re-issue with the accessories, but the good news is Disney Store has designed respective sets for all of the princesses in the collection so they may end up producing and releasing them if this set is successful.
Also featured are very elegant tea service and place setting sets from Macy’s, inspired by Cinderella.
Below is a video recap of some of the collection from the special preview event.
