120061 5352 ful 160x105 Disney XDs Summer Anthem, In the Summertime, by Adam Hicks and Daniel Curtis Lee Premieres May 29A jammin’ hip hop spin on a classic song, “In the Summertime,” with rap lyrics, performed by teen actors Adam Hicks and Daniel Curtis Lee (of the hit comedy series “Zeke and Luther”), will debut as Disney XD’s summer anthem on SATURDAY, MAY 29 (8:00 a.m., ET/PT). The music video for the song, a cover of the instantly recognizable classic released in 1970 by British pop-blues band Mungo Jerry, will rotate throughout the Disney XD summer schedule.

Hicks and Lee’s remake of “In the Summertime” will have its Planet Premiere on Radio Disney FRIDAY, MAY 28. The music video will also be available on DisneyXD.com and the Disney XD YouTube channel on Saturday.

Featured in the music video are Disney XD stars Hutch Dano (“Zeke and Luther”), Dylan and Cole Sprouse (“The Suite Life On Deck”), Mitchel Musso (“Phineas and Ferb” and “Pair of Kings”), Doc Shaw (“Pair of Kings”), Ryan Newman (“Zeke and Luther”), Logan Miller (“I’m In The Band”), Caitlyn Taylor Love (“I’m In The Band”) and David Lambert (“Aaron Stone”).

“In The Summertime” was written by Raymond Edward Dorset, founder of Mungo Jerry. The music video was directed by James Larese of Syndrome, whose credits include music videos for Alicia Keys’ “Try Sleeping with a Broken Heart” and Ke$ha’s “Tik Tok.”

The music video leads into a three-day holiday weekend marathon of the hit Disney XD series “Zeke and Luther,” “Kick Buttowski-Suburban Daredevil,” “I’m in the Band” and “Phineas Ferb.”

2031 160x120 img 5457 Photo Gallery: Disney at the 2010 Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards Last night, Nickelodeon held their 23rd Annual Kids’ Choice Awards at the UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion and there was no shortage of representation from the Disney family. In fact, Disney projects and stars dominated in the nominations with 19 in all including Favorite TV Show in which sole non-Disney nominee (and winner) iCarly defeated Disney Channel mainstays Sonny with a Chance, The Suite Life on Deck and Wizards of Waverly Place. The nominees even pitted Suite Life stars Dylan and Cole Sprouse together with Dylan proving to be the victor. Another pair of brothers –  Nick and Joe Jonas — also were nominees in the same category of Favorite TV Actor.

Other awards for the Disney team last night included: Selena Gomez for Favorite TV Actress (Miley Cyrus also nominated); Miley Cyrus for Favorite Movie Actress (Sandra Bullock also nominated in part for The Proposal); UP for Favorite Animated Movie (A Christmas Carol also nominated); and Jim Carrey for Favorite Voice from an Animated Movie (A Christmas Carol).

Disney Channel Stars Respond to Haiti Disaster in New ‘Express Yourself’ Interstitial

A new segment of Disney Channel’s “Express Yourself” short form series, one coinciding with kids, families and educators’ discussions surrounding the Haiti earthquake, will premiere TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 2 on Disney Channel and Disney XD channels around the world, on Disney.com (including Disney Channel.com and DisneyXD.com) and on You Tube.

The 60-second interstitial, featuring the message, “Join the world as we shine a light on Haiti,” has themes of connection, empowerment, compassion, outreach and being a part of a global community. It features popular Disney Channel stars Selena Gomez (“Wizards of Waverly Place”), Emily Osment, Jason Earles (both of “Hannah Montana”), Dylan and Cole Sprouse, Brenda Song and Doc Shaw (all of “The Suite Life on Deck”) encouraging kids to explore and communicate their feelings and to get inspired to make a difference.

Gary Marsh, president, Entertainment and chief creative officer, Disney Channels Worldwide, said the new interstitial is all about empowering kids. “Our hope is that we can encourage kids all over the world to share their feelings in positive ways — and simultaneously be heartened by the world’s response to those who need help.”

Established in January 2001, “Express Yourself” is designed to effectively reach Disney Channel’s audience of kids age 6-14 with a wide array of messages relevant to their demographic. The series does not reference details about specific tragedies, but includes messages that address feelings of fear and anxiety caused by world events and is instructive on how kids can deal with those feelings.

Disney Channel Orders Additional Episodes of ‘Suite Life on Deck,’ Introduces New Character

Disney Channel has ordered additional second-season episodes of the hit comedy series “The Suite Life on Deck” and will bring aboard a new character played by actor Larramie “Doc” Shaw (“House of Payne”). The series is in production in Hollywood and is a spin-off of the Emmy-nominated “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody.” It stars Dylan Sprouse (winner of the 2009 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards for Favorite TV Actor), Cole Sprouse, Brenda Song, Debby Ryan and Phill Lewis.
