A few months ago, we discussed several new 3D printing patent applications from Disney and today we are seeing the first fruits of their labors, all in the name of Star Wars The Force Awakens. Star Wars Ultimate Studio Edition has launched with several introductory 3D printed props celebrating key elements from the latest film, including two very limited edition items: Vader’s melted helmet (LE 500, $3500) and Finn’s bloodied stormtrooper helmet (LE 500, $1750). Other items include: Kylo Ren’s helmet ($2,000); Poe Dameron’s X-Wing helmet ($1,500); Chewbacca’s Bowcaster ($2,500); Kylo Ren’s lightsaber ($1,250); Rey’s lightsaber ($1,250); and Rey’s staff ($1,250).
It’s adorable to look at on your shelf, but don’t even dream of touching it. Entertainment Earth is now accepting pre-orders for the Pop! Rides Agent Coulson with Lola, with an approximate delivery date of October 2015. With any luck, it may arrive by the time ‘Agents of SHIELD’ Season 3 debuts on ABC on September 29, 2015, with its ‘Secret Warriors’ storyline.
Also announced today and available for pre-order is the Holiday Dancing Groot bobblehead, also from Funko.
Just ahead of Disney’s D23 Expo taking place this weekend in Anaheim, California, Disney Store has released product images and new details for its upcoming collection debuting at the convention, the ‘Good vs Evil’ Fairytale Designer Collection.
Consisting of five sets of dolls: Elsa and Hans of Frozen; Ursula and Ariel of The Little Mermaid; Snow White and the Old Hag of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs; Rapunzel and Mother Gothel of Tangled; and Captain Hook and Peter Pan of Peter Pan, the collection as a whole as an edition size of 6,000 globally. The dolls will first be available for pre-order at D23 Expo as a collection and will presumably be available individually on a release schedule to be announced later.
For the Marvel fan that has almost everything, Beast Kingdom will offer life-size sculpts of the Hulkbuster from Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, which is now available for pre-order from Entertainment Earth, although the 9 3/4 foor tall statue — which clocks in at a whopping 1500 pounds — is equally as heavy on the wallet, costing a mere $18,000 plus the custom shipping (not to mention the required lift for ‘installation’). For all that moolah, it’s worth noting that it also lights up. The official description is as follows:
Proclaiming that this is the first time the material has been made available outside of Walt Disney Studios, the Master Score is a music sheet book ‘that takes you inside the inspired minds of the creators of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs — the animators, story writers, composers, cameramen, and Walt himself’ and offers the following selling points:
- See the integration of story, art, and music.
With an official announcement expected later today by Disney Store North America, Disney Store France has already shared a first look at the upcoming limited edition 17″ Anna, Elsa and Kristoff dolls being released next month in honor of the Frozen Fever short being released in theaters alongside Disney’s Cinderella.
Along with the image seen here, edition sizes were announced along with the number being reserved for Europe. While Anna and Elsa will be an edition size of 5000 each, with 1000 of each being reserved for European sales, Kristoff is a much smaller edition size of just 3500, but also with 1000 reserved for Europe, only 2500 remain for the rest of the globe.
Given that Swarovski not only designed the iconic glass slippers — featuring a 6 inch heel and 221 facets in a light-reflecting Crystal Blue Aurora Borealis coating — for Disney’s upcoming live-action Cinderella (March 13, 2015), but also provided over 1.7 million crystals for use on Cinderella’s ball gown, the Fairy Godmother’s gown and magic wand, and the wicked stepmother’s dress, plus provided access to its jewelry archives for the film’s ballroom scene, it was probably a no-brainer that when it came to choosing the subject for the limited edition Disney collectible for 2015, it would be in honor of the film.
Our friends at Entertainment Earth have graciously informed us that they are now accepting pre-orders for the fabulous Big Hero 6 series of POP! Vinyl collectibles from Funko. Also being released are extra large 6″ versions of Baymax in both mech and a special ‘pearlescent’ nurse version. Diamond Select Toys (DST) today announced it will be launching a new line of limited edition Marvel figure collector sets based on Mego’s World’s Greatest Super Heroes line. Standing at a proud 6’9″, Gentle Giant continues its life-sized Kenner-inspired Star Wars statues with Lord Vader himself. The figure is a result of digitally scanning an authentic, mint-condition 3 3/4″ action figure and scaled up to life size. The figure boasts full articulation, a telescoping lightsaber and a vinyl cape. Anticipated to be released in early 2015, the limited edition monument is hand-painted and comes with a certificate of authenticity. It will retail for $2600.
