Whilst on vacation at Walt Disney World in 1978, John Lamouranne was inspired to paint an egg for his daughter for Easter, portraying images such as the Monorail, the Contemporary Resort, Cinderella Castle and Disney characters. On Saturday, June 18, join Disney Design Group Artist Costa Alavezos and Disney Ink and Paint Artists: James Bonserio, Erin Magill, Theodora M. DeLaney, David Rippberger, Lynn Rippberger and Sharon K. Vincent as they celebrate the premiere of the Ka-chow! entry into the Ink and Paint Cel series. In the cel, Lightning McQueen, Tow Mater and pals make their on-stage debut in the popular stunt show attraction, ‘Lights, Motors, Action Extreme Stunt Show.’ Ka-chow! is also the first entry in the Ink & Paint Cel Series to feature the characters of Disney/Pixar’s Cars.
In an email last night to mailing list subscribers, eFX provided this first look at the replica of the original TRON helmet they’re currently developing. The included image, pictured here, compares the the helmet as seen in the film to the replica being created from eFX.
In related news, eFX has announced that their 4′ replica of Captain Nemo’s Nautilus from 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea has been approved by Disney and will begin shipping in summer. The production is limited to 500 pieces worldwide and is currently being accepted for pre-order ($500 deposit required) up until April 30.
