On Saturday, June 18, join Disney Design Group Artist Costa Alavezos and Disney Ink and Paint Artists: James Bonserio, Erin Magill, Theodora M. DeLaney, David Rippberger, Lynn Rippberger and Sharon K. Vincent as they celebrate the premiere of the Ka-chow! entry into the Ink and Paint Cel series. In the cel, Lightning McQueen, Tow Mater and pals make their on-stage debut in the popular stunt show attraction, ‘Lights, Motors, Action Extreme Stunt Show.’ Ka-chow! is also the first entry in the Ink & Paint Cel Series to feature the characters of Disney/Pixar’s Cars.
In an email last night to mailing list subscribers, eFX provided this first look at the replica of the original TRON helmet they’re currently developing. The included image, pictured here, compares the the helmet as seen in the film to the replica being created from eFX.
In related news, eFX has announced that their 4′ replica of Captain Nemo’s Nautilus from 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea has been approved by Disney and will begin shipping in summer. The production is limited to 500 pieces worldwide and is currently being accepted for pre-order ($500 deposit required) up until April 30. Leveraging an existing Marvel licensing deal, Funko will be producing a line of Disney-inspired vinyl collectible dolls for its new POP! line.
Series 1 includes Mickey Mouse, Woody & Buzz Lightyear from Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story, Sulley & Mike Wazowski from Disney/Pixar’s Monsters, Inc., Pinocchio & Jiminy Cricket from Disney’s Pinocchio, Snow White, Maleficent, Tinker Bell, Cruella de Vil and Stitch. Series two is expected to include Lotso, Belle, Beast, The Incredibles, Boo, Jack Skellington, Minnie Mouse amongst others, according to a report from Pixar Talk. Each figure is approximately 4″ tall.
On this year’s Record Store Day (April 16), Walt Disney Records will release a limited edition 10″ vinyl record titled Translucence which features 4 songs from the TRON: Legacy soundtrack by Daft Punk: ‘Derezzed, ‘TRON: Legacy,’ ‘End of Line’ and ‘Castor.’
The record, designed to look like an identity disc from the films will be available in red, orange and yellow colors and will be packaged as shown, so the record will be on complete display. It’s expected to retail for about $15.

The open-box series of TRON: Legacy vinylmation figures are now available online at DisneyStore.com. The 3″ figure collection consists of Clu, Jarvis, Sam Flynn, Quorra, Rinzler, Zuse and two Kevin Flynns, representing both the 1982 original film and the 2010 sequel.

Inspired by two of the figures from the upcoming Urban Series 6 Vinylmation, Disney Design Group will be releasing two unique, limited edition mouse ears at D-Street at the Downtown Disney Districts at the Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts on March 18, 2011.
Based on a figure designed by artist Doug Strayer, the viking mouse ears will be limited to an edition size of 1,000 pieces.
The gumball machine ears are based on a figure designed by Caley Hicks and will be limited to an edition size of 800 pieces.
Both ears were designed by artist Maria Clapsis and will retail for $49.95.
Via its official blog, Disney Design Group’s Vinylmation has announced a new limited edition collection of Disney Villains #1 9″ + 1.5″ figure combos. Limited to just 700 pieces with a retail price of $59.95 each, the collection features: 9″ Jumba with 1.5″ Stitch from Lilo & Stitch, designed by Dan Beltran; 9″ Julius with 1.5″ Mickey Mouse from Runaway Brain, designed by Gerald Mendez; and 9″ Maleficent with 1.5″ Aurora, designed by Oskar Mendez.
The figures are each designed by Disney Store artists and will be available exclusively at select Disney Store locations as well as DisneyStore.com with an anticipated release date of March 21, 2011.
