D23: The Official Disney Fan Club and the Walt Disney Archives are proud to announce the return of the “Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives” exhibit to the D23 Expo. During the D23 Expo at the Anaheim Convention Center, August 19-21, 2011, the 12,000-square-foot exhibit, which has doubled in size since the 2009 Expo, will give fans unprecedented access and insight into more than eight decades of Disney history.
D23’s ‘Ultimate Disney Trivia Tournament Presented by Hasbro® TRIVIAL PURSUIT: Disney For All Edition’ kicks off the weekend’s activities at this year’s D23 Expo with a full day of mind probing on August 18. Participants will demonstrate their Disney knowledge before hundreds of onlookers in hopes to win the ultimate prize, a coveted cruise vacation on the Disney Fantasy, the newest vessel in the expanding Disney Cruise Line fleet. The nail-biting semifinal and final rounds, held on Stage 23 during the D23 Expo on Friday, August 19, will feature questions directly from the new Hasbro® ‘TRIVIAL PURSUIT: Disney For All Edition’ which releases this fall just in time for the holiday season.
With full details to come, along with study aids, Disney D23 has announced the addition of the ‘Ultimate Disney Trivia Tournament’ at the 2011 D23 Expo at the Anaheim Convention Center.
According to the announcement, ‘no corner of the magical empire will be left unexplored in this quest to find that uniquely talented individual who knows more about Disney than anyone else.’
The competition will begin on August 18, when the playing field will be whittled down to the select few that have risen to the challenge. The semi-final and final rounds will take place during the D23 Expo in the Arena, where all D23 Expo attendees will be invited to watch.
This weekend D23: The Official Disney Fan Club announced The Ultimate Disney Trivia Tournament as an exciting addition to the already highly anticipated D23 Expo 2011. The tournament will allow Disney enthusiasts to compete for the title of Disney Trivia Champion at “The Ultimate Fan Event” to be held next August 19-21 in Anaheim, California.
In a little more than a year, D23 has grown into a community of tens of thousands of Disney fans from every state in the U.S. and more than 30 different countries.
As part of the inaugural D23 Expo in 2009, Disney celebrated the legacy of Donald Duck by offering Disney fans the opportunity to create an official portrait for the Disney icon and Stitch Kingdom was on hand when the rare, coveted Duckster Award went to winner Jennifer Sleeper.
Although a Duckster isn’t likely to be in the cards for the winner of the 2011 art contest, Disney D23 is once again inviting fans to celebrate the magic of Disney’s history by create art, this time commemorating the Walt Disney animated classic One Hundred and One Dalmatians which celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2011.
The first-ever D23 EXPO in 2009 left Disney fans asking when there would be another. On Thursday, Aug. 19, D23: The Official Disney Fan Club begins ticket sales for the next adventure – an incredible three-day event that brings the entire world of Disney under one roof at the Anaheim Convention Center next Aug. 19–21.
Tickets for the D23 EXPO 2011 will be available at a discounted price for a limited time. From August 19–December 31, 2010, tickets will be $37 for a one-day adult admission and $27 for children 3-12. Tickets for members of D23: The Official Disney Fan Club will be $30 for a one-day adult admission and $22 for children. Multi-day money-saving tickets are also available for both D23 Members and the general public, and D23 Members can save as much as $204 off the price of admission, based on the purchase of four three-day tickets at the D23 Member rate. The inaugural DESTINATION D, whose theme is “Disneyland ’55,” will be held this Sept. 24-25. DESTINATION D: Disneyland ’55 will take D23 Members on a journey through the design, creation, debut and magical history of the world’s first Disney theme park. The first DESTINATION D will be held in the Grand Ballroom of the Disneyland Hotel.
DESTINATION D: Disneyland ’55 will offer two full days of special presentations, panels, screenings and guest speakers that let fans meet and talk with key figures in Disneyland’s history. Future DESTINATION D events will explore other important aspects of Disney’s creative legacy. Following its premiere in September, DESTINATION D will alternate annually with the enormously popular D23 EXPO.
The next D23 EXPO is set for Aug. 19-21, 2011, returning to the Anaheim Convention Center.
