Disney Interactive is bringing together an exciting lineup of musicians to the ‘Disney Infinity’ in-game soundtrack including, Daft Punk, Danny Elfman, Michael Giacchino and more. ‘Well this is a shocker,’ said absolutely nobody when it came to Disney’s D23 Expo and Brad Bird’s Tomorrowland project’s presence there. Attendees of the D23 Expo which kicks off today will no doubt notice the massive translucently-curtained booth that shamelessly advertises which upcoming Disney project it’s there to support.
But attendees won’t be able to visit and explore it — at least not until after the Walt Disney Studios live action presentation on Saturday, in which the film will be talked about and teased by Bird who is also slated to appear at the Expo’s Dream Store for an appearance/signing as well.
Before he sets sail this fall aboard Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Magic ship as the climax to the Avengers Academy experience for children, Marvel’s Captain America has decided to drop by the 2013 Disney D23 Expo to meet and greet with his fans at the Disney Parks / Walt Disney Imagineering ‘Journey into Imagineering’ pavilion. Marking Disney’s first foray into the world of Marvel when it comes to meet and greets, the Captain is making the occasion particularly special as he won’t necessarily be around to take photos with adults aboard the ship.
Disney D23 Presents the Treasures of the Walt Disney Studio Archives is easily one of the most popular attractions during the biennial D23 Expo, arguably second only to the star-studded arena presentations, and this year is sure to be no different.
Although smaller than last year’s presentation, by focusing on timeless properties such as Disney’s oft-foray into the world of L. Frank Baum’s Oz and the 1964 classic Mary Poppins, the archives team has managed to produce a solid sampling of fascinating objects that span decades film and parks history.
Although the D23 Expo doesn’t officially kick off until tomorrow morning, a private media event was held earlier this evening at the Disney Parks / Walt Disney Imagineering Pavilion. The most notable takeaway from the pavilion, which gives unprecedented looks at how Disney Parks attractions are and have been designed, from concept to realization, is that two hours just wasn’t enough to experience it all.
The second takeaway is that subtle hints at upcoming projects involving Star Wars and Avatar didn’t seem all that subtle — assuming what I saw was what I thought it was.
Imagine if there was a way to explore every single frame of every single production from Walt Disney Feature Animation, from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs through Wreck-It Ralph and beyond. Imagine if you could have the ability to take a CG model of Vanellope von Schweetz based on an import of the real one and not only easily animate her with more than a hundred points of articulation but save and share your creation with your friends and even allow them to collaborate on your animation (app required). Imagine if you could harness the power of Elsa’s magic snow from Frozen and control its every move and appearance using the same software principles as the film’s animators used.
Guests at the D23 Expo will be among the first to see the highly anticipated one-hour drama Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on Sunday, August 11 at 3:00 p.m. in the D23 Expo Arena. Marvel’s Head of Television & Series executive producer Jeph Loeb will introduce the screening, taking place during the ultimate Disney fan event, August 9 – 11, at the Anaheim Convention Center.
Walt Disney Animation Studios has provided us with these hi-res scans of newly released animation cels from the Mickey Mouse short, Get A Horse!, which features the original voice of Mickey Mouse, Walt Disney himself.
The black-and-white, hand-drawn short’s story follows Mickey, his favorite gal pal, Minnie, and their friends Horace Horsecollar and Clarabelle Cow. The gang is enjoying a musical haywagon ride until Peg-Leg Pete shows up and tries to run them off the road.
The short recently made its world premiere and will be shown for the first time ever to public audiences in North America during the Disney Animation arena presentation at the Disney D23 Expo, which takes place at the Anaheim Convention Center from August 9-11, 2013.
Exclusively at Disney’s D23 Expo August 9–11 at the Anaheim Convention Center, Disney fans are invited to explore the incredible roster of film, stage, and music projects on the horizon at The Walt Disney Studios, with a variety of panel discussions, sneak peeks, and exhibits.
