‘You must get great reception with those,’ said Mickey Mouse to a Mouse Ears-sporting attendee at the 2011 D23 Expo which took place last weekend. Gradually he stepped further away from the guest, asking the inevitable ‘can you hear me now?’ question over and over.
This is just one of the many interactions that took place at the D23 Expo in which guests got their first public, announced opportunity to speak with Mickey Mouse for the first time since Disneyland introduced the meet and greet character, decades ago.
The constant screams in the D23 Expo Arena stemming from hundreds of fans was the only Expo schedule you needed to know that they would soon be entertained by the stars of one of the most successful tv series in Disney Channel history, ‘Shake It Up.’
The event first kicked off, however, with a fashion show highlighting the current Target-exclusive D-Signed collection, inspired by the show’s lead characters, CeCe and Rocky, played by Bella Thorne and Zendaya Coleman.

Although the D23 Expo officially begins Friday, August 19, we’ll be starting our coverage on Thursday afternoon with early looks at shopping opportunities, sneak peeks at the Disney Parks’ ‘Carousel of Projects’ Pavilion, the Treasures of the Walt Disney Studios Archives and more. The extensive coverage is being supplemented by the incredible talent of Stitch Kingdom’s own Kelly Noble as well as (hopefully) a few additional contributors along the way.
It appears Halloween has come a day early as new information for ‘Disney Universe’ from Disney Interactive Studios has surfaced today rather than the original anticipated date of August 18, otherwise known as Disney D23 Expo-eve. Although we expect to see more character costumes and screenshots within the next day or so, Disney has released a new gameplay trailer featuring The Lion King, one of six worlds that will come with the game initially, with more promised in the way of Downloadable Content on the PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Xbox platforms in the future. Other previously share worlds include Disney/Pixar’s Monsters, Inc. and WALL-E along with Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland.
