Disney D23, the official fan club of fans of The Walt Disney Company, has announced that in honor of the 60th anniversary of Walt Disney Imagineering and the origins of Disney Parks and Resorts, Walt Disney Imagineering will be hosting an ‘open house’ at its pavilion at the D23 Expo, taking place August 9 – 11. The pavilion will be opening the doors of WDI’s unique facilities and offering an unprecedented look at its creative processes — all on the floor of the Anaheim Convention Center. In addition, Imagineers past and present will host an entire day of panel discussions on Sunday, August 11, celebrating their 60 magical years of ‘dreaming and doing.’

Attendees of the D23 Expo 2013 can catch an exclusive advance screening of this film featuring a Q&A with director Erin Leyden and producer (and ’99er) Julie Foudy. The screening and panel will take place in Stage 28 on Sunday, August 11 at 2:30 pm PT.
Disney D23, the official club for fans of The Walt Disney Company, today announced that it will debut a new experience at its upcoming 2013 D23 Expo: the À La Mode Costume Contest. The contest is scheduled to take place on Friday, August 9, 2013 from 2:30 pm – 4:30 pm in the Stage 23 venue.
À La Mode, named after The Incredibles’ couture genius Edna Mode, is the first competition of its kind to showcase fans’ creativity through costumes inspired by all things Disney, including Motion Pictures (Animation, Pixar, Marvel, and Lucasfilm); Parks & Resorts; Consumer Products; Media Networks (including Disney Channel, ABC, and ESPN); and Interactive.
D23, the official club for fans of the Walt Disney Company has announced it has received a limited number of invites for its members to attend the launch of Old Navy’s new ‘Mickey through the Decades’ vintage-style tees collection at the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, California on July 13, 2013. Tickets are free for silver and gold level members (plus up to two guests), available on a first come, first serve basis beginning June 28 at 10 am PT. The event itself will take place on July 13, 2013 from 12 – 3 pm PT.
Attendees of a press conference held earlier this month for Disney XD’s new animated series, ‘Avengers Assemble,’ were able to catch a glimpse of Marvel’s Iron Man and Captain America in the flesh/suit. This would have provided a rare opportunity for a meet and greet with the popular Marvel superheroes in an environment provided by Disney proper as the only current appearances in domestic theme parks are regulated to those at Universal Studios Orlando and sanctioned meet and greets at Toys ‘R’ Us locations.
On August 9, Disney Channel will screen its upcoming ‘Phineas and Ferb’ special (and Marvel crossover), ‘Mission Marvel.’ The following day, fans will be able to mingle with some of the stars from the Disney Channel Original Movie Teen Beach Movie during a ‘surf crazy’ dance at the Disney Channel booth. Other screenings are set to include a preview of the new animated series, ‘Wonder Over Yonder,’ as well as never-before-seen Mickey Mouse shorts.
D23: The Official Disney Fan Club is thrilled to announce a special theatrical performance, Broadway and Beyond. Thomas Schumacher, president and producer, Disney Theatrical Productions will host a musical journey into Disney’s history on Broadway and beyond at the D23 Expo: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. The performance features an all-star line-up, including Heidi Blickenstaff (‘The Little Mermaid’), Ashley Brown (‘Mary Poppins’ and ‘Beauty and the Beast’), Merle Dandridge (‘Tarzan’ and ‘Aida’), Josh Strickland (‘Tarzan®’) and Alton Fitzgerald White (‘The Lion King’), who sing beloved songs from the award-winning musicals they starred in as well as classic tunes from the Disney on Broadway catalogue.
Disney D23 members who have purchased admission to the 2013 Disney D23 Expo at the Sorcerer level have received their invitation to bid on limited edition items via Random Selection Process (RSP) as well as the opportunity to pre-order several stock items from the Disney D23 Dream Store. Many of these items are either unique to the Expo or will be making their debut there before appearing at other locations such as the theme parks.
While the pre-purchase opportunities are afforded to Sorcerer-level attendees only, anyone can preview some of the items that will be available for purchase during the show.
