The final building block for the newest Disney Cruise Line ship, the Disney Fantasy, was placed today at the Meyer Werft shipyard signaling completion of a major milestone in the ship’s overall construction. The final block placed was a 265-ton portion of the ship’s bow, complete with the signature Disney Cruise Line golden filigree.
The Disney Fantasy will bring to life many of the innovative features guests love on the recently launched Disney Dream including AquaDuck — the world’s first shipboard water coaster. But new design elements and guest experiences will give the Fantasy an identity all its own. Some of the new highlights found on the Disney Fantasy include:
Presumably as part of its recent warehouse expansion, for which we were told to watch out for literally hundreds of new items, DisneyStore.com today added a couple of dozen items to its theme park merchandise, representing Disney Cruise Line. Although the merchandise was previously available to some extent via the Walt Disney World Merchandise line (407-363-6200), this represents the first time that the merchandise is advertised directly to the public outside of selling directly to passengers on the Disney Wonder, Magic and Dream.
With the exception to the childrens’ Admiral Donald hat (pictured), however, all of the available merchandise is non-ship specific and/or represents Disney’s private island destination, Castaway Cay. A good percentage of it also appears to be 2011 dated items, so presumably stock levels have influenced whether an item is available through DisneyStore.com.
There is an official URL for the online shop at http://disneycruise.com/store, but at this time, it appears there are several items missing from the page’s index, so at this time, it’s best to simply visit DisneyStore.com and type ‘cruise’ in the ‘what are you searching for?’ box.
With casting calls for the Disney Fantasy (maiden voyage March 31, 2012) beginning soon, we have learned that the new production being created exclusively for the Disney Fantasy will be titled ‘Reflections.’ This news comes via the resume page of choreographer Darren Lee on his agents’ website. Interestingly enough, Lee’s resume also lists ‘Toy Story’ at the Hyperion Theatre at Disney California Adventure, the show once announced to replace ‘Aladdin,’ before Disney Parks abruptly announcing an indefinite extension of ‘Aladdin,’ a move we used to feed our inane assumption that the staged musical version of ‘Newsies’ would be moving into the park.
Southern California residents now have the opportunity to save 25% off prevailing rates as quoted on disneycruise.com on most Mexican Riviera sailings on the Disney Wonder from October 23 to December 18, 2011.
Whether you wish to embark on an energizing adventure or simply relax amid spectacular seaside scenery, Southern California residents can expect an extraordinary vacation at a very special price on the Disney Wonder.
Book online, call (800) 951-3532 or contact your Travel Agent. Guests under 18 years of age must have their parent or guardian call this number. Be sure to indicate booking code “SCR” at time of booking.

The Disney Fantasy, the new Disney Cruise Line ship set to debut next spring, will bring to life many of the innovative features guests love on the recently launched Disney Dream including AquaDuck — the world’s first shipboard water coaster. But new design elements and guest experiences will give the Fantasy an identity all its own.
The Disney Fantasy is the second of two newly designed Disney Cruise Line ships that take the family cruise experience to new heights. Sister ship to the Disney Dream, which entered service in January 2011, the 4,000-passenger Disney Fantasy will sail week-long Caribbean cruises from Port Canaveral, Fla., with its maiden voyage scheduled for March 31, 2012.
Disney Cruise Line is embarking on a first-ever season of Alaskan itineraries, sailing 18, seven-night round-trip cruises this summer season from Vancouver to Tracy Arm Fjord, Skagway, Juneau and Ketchikan. As part of the inaugural voyage, the Disney Wonder marks a unique milestone sailing to the 49th state, and officially adding another itinerary option to Disney’s line-up, giving guests even more destinations to choose from for family cruise vacations.
The Disney Wonder cruise ship sails under the Golden Gate Bridge April 29, 2011 on the way to the Port of San Francisco. This is the first time Disney Cruise Line has visited San Francisco. The ship stopped here for two days as part of a repositioning itinerary heading north to begin Disney Cruise Line’s first Alaska season. During the seven-night Alaskan itinerary, the Disney Wonder visits Juneau, Ketchikan, Skagway and Tracy Arm Fjord.
