Production has begun in Atlanta, Georgia on the Disney Channel Original Movie “Let It Shine,” a modern day teenage Cyrano de Bergerac set in the world of gospel music and hip-hop. The movie is scheduled to premiere in summer 2012 on Disney Channel; its soundtrack will include 12 original songs by acclaimed music producers/songwriters/performers such as Rock Mafia (Selena Gomez and The Scene “Love You Like a Love Song”), Grammy-winner Toby Gad (Beyoncé “If I Were A Boy” and Fergie “Big Girls Don’t Cry”) and David Banner (“Dance the Night Away” featuring Denim from “Footloose” and “Get Like Me” featuring Chris Brown and Yung Joc).
Sarah Hyland (“Modern Family”) and Matt Prokop (High School Musical 3: Senior Year) star in the comedy “Geek Charming,” a Disney Channel Original Movie based on the popular young adult novel of the same name, premiering Friday, November 11 at 8:00 pm ET/PT. The story follows a snobby high school girl who has her perspective challenged when she becomes the subject of a self-proclaimed film geek’s documentary.
Disney Channel has ordered a third season of its hit kid and family sitcom, “Good Luck Charlie.” Production is scheduled to resume in Los Angeles for a season premiere in early 2012. The series, created by Phil Baker and Drew Vaupen (“Suddenly Susan” and “What I Like About You”), is executive-produced by Baker, Vaupen and Dan Staley (“Cheers,” “Love & Money”) and stars Bridgit Mendler, Jason Dolley, Leigh-Allyn Baker, Bradley Steven Perry, Mia Talerico and Eric Allan Kramer.
“Good Luck Charlie” has also inspired a Disney Channel Original Movie, “Good Luck Charlie, It’s Christmas!,” set to premiere in December, starring the cast along with guest stars Debra Monk (“Damages,” “Grey’s Anatomy”) and Michael Kagan (“Desperate Housewives”).
Before it finds life as an animated series on Disney XD in 2012, TRON: Uprising, the sequel prequel, will make its debut as a Disney Channel Original Movie (DCOM) according to the publisher’s description of the junior novel of the same name.
Slated to be released on January 3, 2012, which is historically early relative for a movie it promises in the spring, the book’s description reads as follows:

Outfitted stem-to-stern as Phineas’ and Ferb’s teal-colored pet platypus, Perry the Platy-bus will explore the adventures of the road on a coast-to-coast journey to San Diego’s Comic-Con International (July 21-24) and then slips through the wind, all the way to the Disney D23 Expo in Anaheim (August 19-21).
“My Babysitter’s a Vampire,” a comedic spin on pop culture vampires and scary movies in general, tells the story of three teens who believe their new babysitter is a real bloodsucking creature of the night — and it’s now up to them to rid their sleepy little town of the menace.
