New Pook-a-looz Pook-a-sode: Fairy Tale Ending (Almost!)
Via its official YouTube channel, Disney Consumer Products offers up its latest ‘pook-a-sode’ featuring its popular Pook-a-Looz line of plush toys. Although each of the pook-a-sodes is worth a watch, this one in particular goes well above and beyond all measurable forms of cuteness as a night spent watching Disney’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs gives Dopey an idea. Will Dopey’s quest end in success? Watch the video to find out.
As with all of the pook-a-sodes, this one also features an appearance by a ‘hidden Pook-a-looz’ but this one in particular may take a careful eye to spot it.

Disney and CLOT Launch ‘Man Is In The Forest’ Concept Store in China
In late June, Disney, together with leading Asian independent retailer CLOT officially opened the highly anticipated concept store Man Is In The Forest- the first store in the world where ground breaking Disney collaborations with leading designers will be sold under one roof.
Already established fashion leaders in Asia, CLOT has four retail outlets in Asia selling the latest in cutting edge street wear design and labels such as HeadPorter, OriginalFake and much more. Man Is In The Forest will be the fifth retail offering and their second in mainland China.
“We are excited about the launch of this unique retail concept in Shanghai. Man Is In the Forest is such a exclusive offering and the only place in the world that will house all of these iconic designers. CLOT has always been inspired by the enduring legacy of Walt Disney- we’re confident that consumers everywhere will be eager to come and check out such a complete offering,” says Kevin Poon, co-owner of CLOT.
“To work with Disney is a dream come true – I have been a fan since I was young and it has followed into my life to now with Toy Story and the upcoming release of TRON Legacy. Being able to work with this whole magical kingdom of Disney and to educate and present them is an honor and I hope what we’re doing now is in line with the high standard that Disney holds,” adds Edison Chen, co-owner CLOT.
This one- of-a-kind retail concept is a tribute to Walt Disney himself- the reference “Man is in the Forest” dates back to the days of the animated movie Bambi, when Walt was heavily involved in the production process; workers used it as a code phrase to hint that Walt was in the studio.
Man Is In The Forest will feature limited-edition Disney-inspired fashion, accessories and collectables from designers all around the globe including Campana Brothers, Charlotte Tarantola, Dr. Romanelli, Han Cholo, Kidada Jones, MindStyle, Tom Binns,Violette Van Parys, X-Girl and X-Large to name just the designers on board for the launch.
“The Man Is In The Forest store is a tribute to all the wonderful fashion and design collaborations that Disney has been a part of. The one-stop designer store elevates Disney designer collaborations to a whole new audience, which proves you can love Disney at any age,” says Guenther Hake, senior vice president, Disney Consumer Products, Greater China.
Hot on the heels of the release of Disney-Pixar’s Toy Story 3 and to celebrate the launch of the store, Toy Story takes center stage, taking inspiration from the lineup of Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Rex, Jessie and Hamm. A collection of limited edition t-shirts designed by leading fashion designers such as Cassette Playa, Costello Tagliapietra, Henry Holland, Jonathan Saunders and Victor Glemaud will be sold in-store.
“Graphic imagery and placement print has always been an integral part of my work. I also love to combine different patterns and prints together like collage. I have used all these techniques in the Toy Story piece,” says designer Jonathan Saunders of his “Rex” inspired design.

Photo Gallery: Disney Store Montebello (Imagination Park) Grand Opening and Tour
Yesterday, at the Shops at Montebello in Montebello, California, Disney Store launched its first of many new stores this year to feature its new ‘Imagination Park’ concept in which the store is designed to resemble a park full of imagination and wonder, broken down into different neighborhoods while offering unique experiences.
On hand to celebrate the day’s momentous occasion were Disney Store President Jim Fielding and stars from the Disney Channel original movie Camp Rock 2, Maria Canals Barrera, Chloe Bridges and Anna Maria Perez de Tagle.

Later on in the day, Stitch Kingdom’s Kelly Noble had the opportunity to explore the Disney Store ‘Imagination Park’ at Montebello experience which features an exclusive RIDEMAKERZ opportunity featuring the stars of Disney/Pixar’s Cars. For more information on the experiences one can find in the Imagination Park model, review our original report here.

First Look: New ‘Tangled’ Dolls and Toys from Disney Consumer Products (Minor Spoilers)
Disney Consumer Products kicked off its 2010 holiday tour this past week in New York City and brought representatives from every division imaginable to show off all of the new wonderful products you’ll be finding on the shelves this holiday season and we were there to help spread all the joy with you.
Naturally one of the big pushes is for Disney’s Tangled (nee Rapunzel) and Disney Consumer Products has an amazing array of toys and dolls representing the film from Disney Consumer Products, Mattel, JAKKS Pacific and more. Below you’ll find our gallery and additional information on each of the items, but we’d like to take a few moments to highlight some of the things we found (note there may be some minor spoilers).
First up are some of the offerings from Disney Store. As one would likely expect, there is a role playing dress available ($39.50) along with accessories: a braided ‘hair halo’ with about 3′ of extensions ($14.50) and light-up wand ($10.50), shoes ($16.50) and wand ($10.50).
The 11 1/2 inch dolls come with a whopping 17″ of advertised hair (although a couple of inches may not be readily visible) with glittering strands of hair. This is a tribute to the magical powers Rapunzel’s hair has that cause it to glow when it’s brushed (yes, look for a lot of glowing hair Tangled products). Either way, it’s quite impressive (* scissors optional). The doll will be available in a variety of configurations: as a single with paintbrush and Pascal accessories ($14.50; Flynn Rider also available with share and wear comb/tiara), as the Rapunzel Boutique Set which includes three dresses from the film and two mannequin forms ($29.50) and as a set with Flynn Rider with their ‘celebration’ outfits ($29.50).
Another standout for Disney Store is the Rapunzel Toddler Doll ($24.50) which — I dare say — is absolutely darling and sure to be one the biggest hits of the line. We’re told that Glen Keane was so enamoured by toddler Rapunzel that more of her was added into the film than originally planned and we can definitely see why. She’s made from a soft plastic.
It has been noted that the PVC figurine set ($19.50) may actually be giving us our first real look at Madame Gothel / Mother Gothel.
Finally, there’s Rapunzel’s entry into a new line of Disney Princess dolls from Disney Store — the Singing Doll collection which are fully articulated dolls of many of the princesses with all new a cappella recordings from the original voice artists (when possible) created exclusively for the dolls. We’ll delve more into this when we address Disney Princesses directly, so for now we’ll just note that this particular doll features Mandy Moore singing ‘When Will My Life Begin?’
On that same note (brilliant segue), we’ll just touch upon one of the Tangled products from JAKKS Pacific for now and that’s the 18″ tall Rapunzel from the all new Princess & Me collection. She has a distinctive look and we’ll soon learn why when we explore the Disney Princess collections further.
Most of Mattel’s products have already been previewed during the International Toy Fair back in February, so we suggest you take a few moments to check them out here in case you missed it. Of course Mattel has a lot more to offer for the film than what was on display here and one of those items I was looking forward to revisit is Flynn’s horse Maximus. However, since he was unavailable during the holiday tour, I just want to point out that he represents a first for Mattel — his head can actually rock back and forth as he ‘trots,’ adding to realistic play.

First Look: Inside Disney Store’s Very First ‘Imagination Park’
At D23 Expo in 2009, Disney Store President Jim Fielding regaled an eager audience with his tale of the Disney Store. From its humble beginnings to the next chapter in the Disney retail experience. Dubbed ‘Imagination Park,’ Fielding briefly touched upon what he defined as being ‘the best thirty minutes of a child’s day.’
Today, Disney Store turned to the first page of the new chapter as they unveiled ‘Imagination Park’ to the world via its Montebello, CA location, just outside Los Angeles and it’s every bit of wow that one had come to expect from the hype. Eventually all the Disney Stores are expected to adopt the new look and philosophy of Imagination Park, but — for now — 20 locations are expected to receive the update this year, including new stores in New York’s Times Square and San Francisco’s Union Square, amongst others.
With a new store design comes a new costume for Disney Store cast members and Imagination Park is no exception. The new Disney Store cast member costume is a gingham blue checkerboard shirt with khakis. Cast member name badges have also been modified, this time to include the individual cast member’s favorite Disney character.
We had already known about the castle which features a special mirror: when children hold special Disney Princess merchandise with an embedded RFID chip in the packaging, they are instantly greeted by Ariel, Aurora, Cinderella, Snow White or Tiana who appears in the mirror right before their very eyes — as if by magic.
But if you’re thinking Imagination Park is neglecting the boys, think again! Because right here in Imagination Park is a small RIDEMAKERZ station. The very same custom-R/C car store that has already set up shop at Downtown Disney at both the Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts has found a home in Imagination Park. But what sets this particular RIDEMAKERZ apart is that it offers vehicles and accessories based on Disney/Pixar’s CARS, which are exclusive to the Montebello store.
Virtually everything Fielding has talked about in Imagination Park can be found here. A large custom screen housed inside a gazebo allows children to pick and choose the multimedia presented to them and provides other exciting opportunities to take advantage of the new technology.
Another Imagination Park element talked about is the ability to add a little scent to the air, such as pine trees if A Christmas Carol was playing in the store. Although it’s not quite there yet, the ability to scent the air is there and it does just that about every 20 minutes or so with the single scent currently available. And what’s a park without trees? Or more precisely, what’s an Imagination Park without magical trees? These treescan interact with guests and provide special experiences you’ll have to see to believe such as creating displays of virtual fireworks to celebrate special occasions.
One thing that’s missing that had been discussed is something called ‘mobile checkout’ — the ability for Cast Members on the floor to check out guests on the spot without having to wait on line at registers. Although it’s not available at the present time, we hear it may not be far behind.
And the magic doesn’t stop at just the experiences, we also encountered some additional surprises in way of inventory. For example, while they’re not even available in the parks as of yet, the Montebello Disney Store is selling Toy Story and Have a Laugh Vinylmations.
The Disney Store at the Shops at Montebello opened today as part of a soft opening with a grand opening planned for June 29. Today, the first 500 guests received a special gift (Mickey ears) while on June 29, there will be a formal grand opening of the store with Disney execs and characters appearing throughout the day in addition to the other festivities.
