Disney Channel celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month beginning Thursday, September 15 with a host of original programming, including kid-focused interstitials highlighting family heritage and cultural traditions. A brand new “Handy Manny Great Garage Rescue” special, featuring guest stars Ed O’Neill (“Modern Family”), Freddy Rodriguez (“Ugly Betty”), George Takei (“Star Trek”) and Harold Perrineau (“Lost”) alongside series star Wilmer Valderrama, will also debut, along with a new episode of “Special Agent Oso” featuring Rita Moreno (“West Side Story”), Rico Rodriguez (“Modern Family”) and Raini Rodriguez (“Prom”).
Disney Channel has ordered a third season of its hit kid and family sitcom, “Good Luck Charlie.” Production is scheduled to resume in Los Angeles for a season premiere in early 2012. The series, created by Phil Baker and Drew Vaupen (“Suddenly Susan” and “What I Like About You”), is executive-produced by Baker, Vaupen and Dan Staley (“Cheers,” “Love & Money”) and stars Bridgit Mendler, Jason Dolley, Leigh-Allyn Baker, Bradley Steven Perry, Mia Talerico and Eric Allan Kramer.
“Good Luck Charlie” has also inspired a Disney Channel Original Movie, “Good Luck Charlie, It’s Christmas!,” set to premiere in December, starring the cast along with guest stars Debra Monk (“Damages,” “Grey’s Anatomy”) and Michael Kagan (“Desperate Housewives”).
The constant screams in the D23 Expo Arena stemming from hundreds of fans was the only Expo schedule you needed to know that they would soon be entertained by the stars of one of the most successful tv series in Disney Channel history, ‘Shake It Up.’
The event first kicked off, however, with a fashion show highlighting the current Target-exclusive D-Signed collection, inspired by the show’s lead characters, CeCe and Rocky, played by Bella Thorne and Zendaya Coleman.

The fairies and sparrow men in Pixie Hollow are busy training for the Pixie Hollow games and for three weeks the virtual world of Pixie Hollow, will celebrate the Games by hosting the “How Will You Train?” art contest. The contest, which runs from August 16 – September 6, invites Disney Fairies Fans to draw and share how they will train for the Pixie Hollow Games, with the grand prize winner receiving the ultimate viewing party kit.
Disney Channel fan-favorite Debby Ryan (“The Suite Life on Deck,” “16 Wishes”) stars in “Jessie,” a new comedy series about a small-town girl who leaves behind her Texas roots and finds a job in the Big Apple as nanny to a high-flying couple’s four precocious kids. The series premieres FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 30 (9:00 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney Channel.
Radio Disney, the No. 1, 24-hour radio network devoted to kids, tweens and families, will kick off its fourth season of “N.B.T.” (Next Big Thing) beginning FRIDAY, OCTOBER 14. “N.B.T.,” a daily multiplatform feature that launched the careers of Kicking Daisies, Coco Jones and Hollywood Records recording artists Allstar Weekend, puts the spotlight on aspiring young recording artists and provides them the chance to showcase their music across national broadcast and online platforms. Over the course of 10 weeks, Radio Disney and Disney Channel audiences will be invited to look, listen and vote for their favorite artist at RadioDisney.com or on the Radio Disney Facebook page, or text* “NBT” to DISNEY (347639). The Disney/ABC Television Group (DATG) captured 45 Primetime Emmy nominations, it was announced today by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. This total reflects nominations for ABC Television Network, ABC Studios, ABC.com, Disney Channel and Disney XD programming.
The ABC Television Network collected 42 nominations, including 17 nominations for “Modern Family,” topping all comedies. Nods for the sophomore series include categories of Outstanding Comedy Series, Supporting Actor/Actress, Guest Actor (Nathan Lane), Writing, Art Direction, Casting, Directing, Picture Editing and Sound Mixing.
“Dancing with the Stars” received 7 nominations in the categories of Reality-Competition (for the sixth consecutive time), Host Tom Bergeron (fourth consecutive), Choreography, Hairstyling, Lighting, Makeup, and Technical Direction, Camerawork, Video Control.

Before it finds life as an animated series on Disney XD in 2012, TRON: Uprising, the sequel prequel, will make its debut as a Disney Channel Original Movie (DCOM) according to the publisher’s description of the junior novel of the same name.
Slated to be released on January 3, 2012, which is historically early relative for a movie it promises in the spring, the book’s description reads as follows:
“Phineas and Ferb” leads the charge for Disney Channel at Comic-Con International, as “Perry the Platy-bus On Tour” arrives on the show floor in celebration of the Emmy Award-winning series. After making its debut in Times Square on July 11, the Platy-bus will ride into San Diego Comic-Con July 21-24.
