In addition to 29 brand new episodes for its third season, today Disney Channel announced a new short-form series and two primetime specials. “Handy Manny’s School for Tools,” 20 animated shorts, will begin production this year for a 2010 premiere. In Fall 2009, Disney Channel will present the first of two primetime specials, “Handy Manny’s Motorcycle Adventure,” which takes viewers along on Manny’s exciting and unexpected road trip to his family reunion. The special features four new songs including “Rolling” performed by renowned East Los Angeles rockers Los Lobos. The second primetime special will debut in 2010. The daily series will also introduce 10 new tools: a jackhammer, a power screwdriver, a power socket wrench, a shop vac, a pair of needle nose pliers, a deluxe tool box, a laser level and a trio of crescent wrenches.
104 days of summer vacation begins with a marathon of the Emmy-nominated hit series “Phineas and Ferb,” MONDAY, MAY 25 (2:00 –10:00 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney Channel. During programming breaks, series co-creator and executive producer Dan Povenmire will take viewers behind the scenes during production and provide step-by-step instructions on how to draw the popular characters Phineas, Ferb, Candace, Agent P and Perry the Platypus. The Jonas Brothers’ music video for their newly released single, “Paranoid,” debuts SATURDAY, MAY 23 (7:55 p.m. ET/PT) on Disney Channel. The video was directed by Brendan Malloy and Tim Wheeler, who also directed the music video for their smash hit single, “Burnin’ Up.” Jonas Brothers will host a behind the scenes look at the making of the “Paranoid” music video Sunday, May 31 (6:00 p.m. ET/PT) on Disney Channel.
Disney Channel has ordered additional second-season episodes of the hit comedy series “The Suite Life on Deck” and will bring aboard a new character played by actor Larramie “Doc” Shaw (“House of Payne”). The series is in production in Hollywood and is a spin-off of the Emmy-nominated “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody.” It stars Dylan Sprouse (winner of the 2009 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards for Favorite TV Actor), Cole Sprouse, Brenda Song, Debby Ryan and Phill Lewis.
LOS ANGELES — Hulu and The Walt Disney Company today announced that Disney, through a subsidiary of ABC Enterprises Inc., has agreed to join NBC Universal, News Corporation and Providence Equity Partners as a joint venture partner and equity owner of Hulu, a leading online aggregator of video content. Upon closing, the agreement will enhance Hulu’s programming line-up through the expanded online distribution of Disney’s most popular current and library primetime series and library feature films. In particular, full-length episodes of hit current and library programs like Lost, Grey’s Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, Private Practice, Ugly Betty, Scrubs, Greek, Hope and Faith, Less Than Perfect, Wizards of Waverly Place, Phineas and Ferb, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, General Hospital, The View and The Secret Life of the American Teenager will soon be streamed on Hulu on an ad-supported basis.
Disney Channel stars Mitchel Musso (“Hannah Montana” and “Phineas and Ferb”) and Tiffany Thornton (“Sonny With A Chance”) perform the new high-energy pop dance song, “Let It Go,” from the upcoming Disney Channel Original Movie, “Hatching Pete,” in a music video to debut SATURDAY, MARCH 28 (7:20 p.m. ET/PT) on Disney Channel. Leading up to the television debut, the handclapping, chanting song will be available exclusively online at www.Disney.com/MusicVideos and mark its debut on Radio Disney on March 20.
