Disney ‘Descendants’ ‘Isle of the Lost’ Third Book Announced


Disney Publishing Worldwide has announced that a third installment of the Isle of the Lost book series inspired by the popular Disney Descendants franchise will be once again authored by Melissa de la Cruz for a release in spring 2017.

The official publisher’s description is as follows:

In this follow up to New York Times #1 best sellers The Isle of the Lost and Return to the Isle of the Lost, Mal, Evie, Carlos, and Jay must destroy the four talismans of evil before their parents use them to overcome good once and for all. And when a rotten villain from their past returns, Mal and her friends will have to band together once again in order to keep Auradon safe.
The book is currently scheduled for release on May 23, 2017 and both Target and Barnes and Noble will have their own exclusive versions of the book.

WATCH: ‘Disney Descendants 2’ Sea-quel Teaser Trailer Teases Ursula

Disney Descendants 2Disney Channel has released a teaser for its upcoming Disney Channel Original Movie (DCOM), Disney Decendants 2. The clip shown features Carlos, Evie, Mal and Jay exiting what appears to be a club before pulling back and showing the popular children of Disney’s villains as being viewed inside the crystal ball belonging to Ursula. It had been previously announced that Disney star China Anne McClain will appear in the sea-quel as Ursula’s daughter, Uma. The movie will also expected to include Captain Hook’s daughter, CJ, as well as Gaston’s children, who have appeared in the franchise’s books.

WATCH: Dove Cameron’s ‘Genie in A Bottle’ Music Video from Disney’s Descendants

Dove Cameron 'Genie In A Bottle'After premiering earlier tonight on Disney Channel, Walt Disney Music and VEVO have released the official music video for Dove Cameron’s sanitized cover of Christina Aguilera’s ‘Genie in a Bottle,’ which you can find embedded below. The single is currently available for purchase on iTunes and Amazon.

In the music video, Mal is transported into the magic lamp of Jordan (played by newcomer Iman Karran), the daughter of Aladdin’s Genie, after wishing she had Jordan’s magical powers. Geared toward kids and tweens, the re-imagined song and music video are inspired by the ‘Genie Chic’ storyline in the animated short-form series ‘Descendants: Wicked World.’

Dove Cameron’s Descendants ‘Genie in A Bottle’ Video to Premiere March 18

Popular Disney Channel star and recording artist Dove Cameron performs — as her fan favorite character Mal in Disney’s ‘Descendants’ — a new version of the pop song ‘Genie in a Bottle,’ in a music video premiering Friday, March 18 during a new ‘Stuck in the Middle’ episode (8:30-9:00 p.m. EDT) on Disney Channel. The track will be available from Walt Disney Records at all download stores (iTunes) and streaming services on Friday, March 18.

Disney Parks has provided us with several photos from the taping which included performances by Reba McEntire, Seal, Charlie Puth, Tori Kelly, David Foster and the cast of ‘Descendants’ (Dove Cameron, Cameron Boyce, Booboo Stewart and Sofia Carson), along with appearances by ‘Pretty Little Liars’ star  Janel Parrish. WATCH: Disney Descendants Role Play App Teaser Coming Soon to Mobile Devices

Disney’s Descendants ‘Return to the Isle of the Lost’ to Introduce More Children of Villains

'Isle of the Lost' by Melissa de la CruzAt BookCon earlier this year, New York Times best-selling author and author of Disney Descendants prequel, Isle of the Lost, Melissa de la Cruz, announced that there would be a sequel to the book, expected in May of 2016.

Today, additional details of the upcoming title have been released. Return to the Isle of the Lost is now slated for publication on May 10, 2016, presumably aligned for a sequel to the telefilm for summer 2016 as well. Like the original book, Disney is listing a pagecount of 320 pages for the upcoming sequel. The preliminary publisher’s description is as follows:

Disney's DescendantsCasting is underway for Disney’s Descendants, a contemporary live-action adventure-comedy that taps into Disney’s heritage characters — notably its most evil villains — to introduce their progeny, a modern day generation of teenagers who ultimately question the evil that’s always been in their hearts.

Kenny Ortega, the Emmy Award-winning director and choreographer of Disney’s record-setting High School Musical TV movies and feature film, returns to Disney Channel to direct Descendants. The casting directors are Natalie Hart and Jason La Padura, C.S.A..
