Disney Junior has ordered two new animated series, ‘Vampirina,’ executive-produced by ‘Doc McStuffins’ creator Chris Nee, and ‘Puppy Dog Tails,’ created by comedian Harland Williams. Both series have begun production and are slated to premiere in 2017. The channel has also ordered second seasons of its hit animated series ‘The Lion Guard’ and ‘Goldie & Bear.’ The announcement was made today by Nancy Kanter, executive vice president, Original Programming and general manager, Disney Junior Worldwide.
As highlighted earlier today on ABC’s ‘Good Morning America,’ Disney’s newest princess is Elena of Avalor, a 16 year old latina princess who is destined to rule the land of Avalor. At this year’s New York International Toy Fair, we previewed new lines of dolls, toys and role play outfits and accessories from companies such as Hasbro, JAKKS Pacific and Just Play, which you can explore today in both photos as well as videos.
Confirming earlier reports by Stitch Kingdom, Disney Junior has announced that a new multi-episode story arc premiering March 4 on Disney Channel will feature an addition to the McStuffins family. In the clip below, Mom explains to Doc that her new sibling won’t arrive in the way she and her brother did, but instead will be adopted into their ‘forever family.’
Experts Adam Pertman, President and Founder of the National Center on Adoption and Permanency and author of ‘Adoption Nation,’ and David Brodzinsky, Ph.D., Director of Research, National Center on Adoption and Permanency, and Professor Emeritus of Clinical and Developmental Psychology, Rutgers University, served as consultants on the episodes.
Just ahead of the New York International Toy Fair which kicks off Saturday, Febuary 13, Disney and Hasbro have shared a first look at the ‘Elena of Avalor’ doll being produced in support of the new animated Disney Junior series. The doll is seen here, held by Aimee Carrero, who voices the title character.
‘Elena of Avalor’ will first appear as part of a crossover episode on ‘Sofia the First’ before launching its own series. It was recently announced that Jenna Ortega will also star as Elena’s younger sister, Princess Isabel; and Chris Parnell, Yvette Nicole Brown and Carlos Alazraqui will voice Migs, Luna and Skylar respectively, magical flying creatures called Jaquins who support Elena as she learns how to rule her kingdom.
Anthony Anderson, Molly Ringwald, Ellen Pompeo , Gabourey Sidibe and Vanessa Williams will guest star on Disney Junior’s critically acclaimed ‘Doc McStuffins,’ an animated series about a little girl who aspires to be a doctor like her mom and runs a clinic for stuffed animals and toys out of her backyard playhouse. They join previously announced guest star Christopher ‘Ludacris’ Bridges in Season Four, slated to debut this summer.
The new season will find Doc and her toy friends magically transported to a make-believe town, made up entirely of toys, where Doc serves as chief resident of the Toy Hospital.

Confirming various earlier reports by Stitch Kingdom, Disney Channel today announced that Olaf from Disney’s Frozen will appear on an episode of ‘Sofia the First,’ debuting on Disney Channel at 11:30 am ET/PT and Disney Junior at 7:00 pm ET/PT on Monday, February 15. The episode will be available on the WATCH Disney Junior app beginning Monday, February 8.
Josh Gad is the voice of Olaf in the story titled ‘The Secret Library: Olaf and the Tale of Miss Nettle,’ the second episode of a four-part story arc. Megan Mullally returns as the voice of Miss Nettle, a role for which she received an Emmy Award nomination earlier this year. Eric Stonestreet and Hugh Bonneville recur as Sofia’s flying horse Minimus and the Narrator, respectively.
Later this year, Princess Elena of Avalor, the first Disney princess inspired by diverse Latin cultures and folklore, will make her debut in a special episode of Disney Junior’s hit series “Sofia the First,” followed shortly thereafter by the launch of the animated series “Elena of Avalor.” As previously announced, the series will follow Elena (voiced by Aimee Carrero of Freeform’s “Young & Hungry”), a 16-year-old ascendant to the throne of the fairytale kingdom of Avalor.
Disney Junior and Disneynature have joined forces to present the new short-form series ‘It’s UnBungalievable,’ inspired by the new animated series, ‘The Lion Guard.’ The new shorts are hosted by ‘The Liong Guard’s’ Bunga the honey badger and Ono the egret and will feature facts about animals and their habitats. Each episode features live-action wildlife footage from Disneynature and highlights two animals, chosen by Bunga and Ono, to compete in various categories such as ‘Who’s Quicker?,’ ‘Who Has Better Hair?’ and ‘Who’s Hungrier?’

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has announced that the television event, The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar, will be available to own on DVD with digital copy on February 23, 2016 (now available for pre-order). The DVD will also include an exclusive talking backpack clip and a bonus feature of the music video of Beau Black performing the series’ theme, ‘Here comes the Lion Guard.’
