While the Magic Kingdom will open at 9 am for most folk on October 1st, 2011, for its 40th Anniversary extravaganza, the fortunate folk who managed to secure a pre-opening breakfast at Cinderella’s Royal Table and Crystal Palace will be happy to know that the privilege is also being extended to those who secure the right to purchase some of the many limited edition pins as well as the very limited number of Anniversary custom Vinylmation figures by Noah.
Possibly exchanging fradulent Disney Pins for cigarettes, the Associated Press is reporting that Robert Smyrak, 52, of Anaheim, California and Larry Allred , 57, of Walnut, California were charged yesterday in Orange County for importing counterfeit goods in the form of Disney pins.
According to prosecutors, the two intended to sell approximately $2 Million dollars worth of fake Disney pins that they had commissioned to be made in China, then selling the fraudulent goods as genuine pins on eBay. U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers learned of the scheme back in February when they intercepted a package addressed to Smyrak containing more than 150 pounds of pins.

In what may very well be a first, DisneyStore.com is allowing Disneyland Resort Annual Passholders the opportunity to purchase an AP exclusive item online, albeit a bit clumsily. Taking advantage of the existing personalization feature on the site, it allows guests to enter in their AP number, last name and zip code for verification.
The item’s page makes no mention of limits in terms of number of items purchased, but none have been formally announced for purchasing the pin in-person either.
For more information or to purchase the pin, visit the Disney Parks section of the Disney pin shop or search for item #400000415406P.
The limited release pin is available only at select retail locations within the Disney California Adventure park including P.T. Flea Market and retails for $7.95. Annual Pass must be presented during time of purchase.
Available exclusively to D23 members on DisneyStore.com, this 7 pin set, limited to just 200 pieces, pays homage to the facade of the Team Disney/Michael D. Eisner building at the Walt Disney Studios designed by Michael Graves. Each pin is 1 3/4″ and represents one of the seven dwarfs portrayed as holding up the building’s roof.
For more information and to order this D23 exclusive, limited edition pin set, visit the DisneyStore.com D23 Boutique.
It’s hard to believe that Disney pin trading started just over a decade ago and has since gone on to become a worldwide phenomenon with casual and serious collectors amassing personal collections to keep and trade.
In 2008, lightning struck twice when Disney Trading and the Disney Design Group introduced Vinylmation – 3″ and 9″ vinyl figures in the form of a Mickey Mouse canvas and decorated in all sorts of fanciful ways. After the release of a number of series, the Vinylmation fever carried on to plushes and clothing and merchandise and even shops dedicated to the new collectible. With even more innovative lines on the way including the new Vinylmation Jr. and other inspired must-haves such as keychains and notebooks, Vinylmation is bigger than ever and shows no sign of stopping!
Star Wars Weekends 2010 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at the Walt Disney World resort is slowly creeping upon us and the news is starting to seep in. So far we’ve learned about the extremely limited edition and extremely awesome Stitch as the Emperor’s Hologram action figure (buy us ten!), the celebrity guest list and little more.
Today, the tides have changed a bit (probably due to the Forest Moon of Endor) and we have news from the Disney Parks blog on upcoming SWW exclusive pins, including Annual Passholder and — for the very first time — DVC Member exclusive items as well as special pins and sets commemorating the 30th anniversary of Empire Strikes Back.
