Accompanied by a performance of ‘Let It Go’ by 12 year old YouTube sensation and One Voice Children’s Choir member Lexi Walker, the Elsa bridal gown by Alfred Angelo made its worldwide debut at an intimate runway show yesterday in New York — and yes, it even snowed. We were fortunate enough to have been invited to the event and you can find our exclusive photos and video below.
Hasbro and Disney Consumer Products today announced that starting in 2016, Hasbro will be granted worldwide rights (except for Japan) to produce dolls based on the Disney Princess properties including Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid and Frozen. This will further expand Hasbro’s existing deal which already encompasses Star Wars and Marvel properties.
The deal most likely spells trouble for Mattel, which currently has had the lock on producing dolls and other products in the Disney Princess line. We have reached out for comment to Disney Consumer Products, but have not yet heard back regarding how Mattel’s existing relationship will be affected by the new deal with Hasbro. Mattel’s Hot Wheels line has recently introduced a line of vehicles inspired by Marvel properties.
Just ahead of the start of the 111th American International Toy Fair in New York, which kicks off on Sunday, February 16, Mattel and Fisher-Price have offered up some of their upcoming Disney licensed merchandise that will be rolled out throughout 2011. After sharing a first look at the Disney Fairytale Designer Collection set of lithographs celebrating several of the most popular couples in Disney lore, we are pleased to share a first look at a couple of the doll pairings from the upcoming Disney Store collection.
Here we have pictured Jasmine with Aladdin (as Prince Ali) along with Snow White and her Prince. Other anticipated couples include Ariel with Prince Eric, Rapunzel with Flynn Rider and Belle with Beast.
We anticipate more information on the collection towards the end of the month. At the Disney D23 Expo in August, the dolls and the related collection will be spotlighted by Disney Store at the Disney Consumer Products pavilion.
