‘Phineas and Ferb’ Special Starts New Season; Guest Stars Include Jay Leno, Jon Stewart, Elizabeth Banks, Simon Pegg

(DISNEY XD)Jay Leno guest stars in ‘Phineas and Ferb Save Summer,’ a special one-hour episode, premiering Monday, June 9 at 10:00 am ET/PT on Disney XD. The episode ushers in several new episodes of the Emmy Award-winning series airing throughout the summer. The new episodes include notable guest stars such as Jon Stewart, Elizabeth Banks and Simon Pegg.

Leno plays the voice of Major Monogram’s boss, Colonel Contraction of the O.W.C.A. (Organization Without a Cool Acronym), in the special episode in which Phineas, Ferb and the gang host a global summer concert – just as Doofenshmirtz’s latest ‘-inator’ invention moves the Earth, putting summer itself in jeopardy.

‘The 7D’ to Premiere on Disney XD on July 7; Jay Leno and Whoopi Goldberg Join Cast

Disney’s ‘The 7D,’ a contemporary, comedic take on the world of the Seven Dwarfs, will premiere Monday, July 7, at 10:00 am ET/PT on Disney XD and will debut on Disney Channel and Disney Junior later this year. Joining the voice cast are Jay Leno and Whoopi Goldberg in the recurring roles of Crystal Ball and Magic Mirror, respectively. The series’ previously announced voice cast includes Kelly Osbourne as the comically evil villain Hildy Gloom.

WATCH: ‘Star Wars Rebels’ First Clip Released at Wondercon

'Star Wars Rebels' Hera © LucasfilmEarlier today, Disney XD and Lucasfilm released the first clip from their upcoming animated series, ‘Star Wars Rebels,’ which begins later this year.

In the clip — embedded below with a an introduction from voice actress Vanessa Marshall — Hera, captain of the Ghost, pilots her starship during a battle with two TIE fighters. Chopper delivers a message from Kanan, currently engaging the TIEs in the top turret. The Jedi is apparently displeased with Hera’s maneuvering. In response, she takes matters into her own hands…

‘Star Wars Rebels’ Propaganda T-Shirts Available on Amazon

'Star Wars Rebels' TeesAmazon today began listing several t-shirts today in support of the upcoming ‘Star Wars Rebels’ animated series featuring propaganda art promoting the Imperial Navy.

Star Wars Rebels is scheduled to premiere in fall 2014 as a one-hour special telecast on Disney Channel and will be followed by a series on Disney XD channels around the world.

‘Star Wars Rebels’ Character Reveal: Hera

'Star Wars Rebels' Hera © LucasfilmDisney XD and Lucasfilm today introduced a new character from the ‘Star Wars Rebels’ series, Hera, the heart of the Ghost crew from Star Wars Rebels. The Twi’lek, voiced by Vanessa Marshall, is an ace pilot, able fighter and is revealed to fans in the behind-the-scenes video featuring creator interviews, character sketches, and animation previews, embedded below.

Hera is an especially gifted pilot. ‘I think she really makes flying the Ghost look easy,’ says Joel Aron, CG supervisor. And while she’s strong-willed, Hera also keeps the group together and can be warm and nurturing. ‘She knows how to talk to them to get the best out of themselves and to be part of that team,’ Aron says. ‘That to me is the commander of a ship.’

TOY FAIR: ‘Star Wars Spyware’ Line by Jazwares Expands to ‘Star Wars Rebels’

Star Wars Spyware by JazwaresAt the 111th Annual International Toy Fair in New York, Jazwares offered up a sneak peek at its expanded ‘Star Wars Spyware’ line featuring products inspired by the upcoming Disney XD series, ‘Star Wars Rebels.’

Among the items featured included a motion activated micro-listener device, a voice changer (droid or alien), decoder pen and spy light. Also being introduced was the innovative ‘Ezra’s Dart Listening Device Launcher’ which allows Rebels to launch a small dart-like projectile onto a flat surface and eavesdrop on Imperial conversations from a distance. Ezra will also have a multi-device spy tool added to his arsenal through the line.

As seen in the introduction video embedded below, featuring early design concepts, animation tests, and final art, Sabine is unlike any Star Wars character — especially in her love for blowing things up and tagging her work with graffiti.

‘Star Wars Rebels’ Character Reveal: Zeb, The Muscle

Zeb from Star Wars Rebels © LucasfilmDisney XD and Lucasfilm today introduced a new character from the ‘Star Wars Rebels’ series. Zeb is a well-trained honor guard and is highly educated, according to executive producer Dave Filoni, which juxtaposes his brutish, alien appearance. He’s voiced by Steve Blum, who says, ‘He’s got a bit of a chip on his shoulder, hates Chopper and is starting to build a relationship with Ezra, begrudgingly.’

Zeb from Star Wars Rebels © LucasfilmZeb’s favorite pastime: beating up Stormtroopers, or bucket heads, as he’s heard calling them. He’s an agile fighter, using his hands, feet, and acrobatics. But there is more to Zeb than pounding Imperials. ‘It’s just going to be exciting to develop him and his bizarre new species,’ says Filoni, ‘and to explain to the audience where he came from.’

TOY FAIR: ‘Star Wars Rebels’ Calendar Names New Characters in Art

'Star Wars Rebels' CalendarOne of the hotter properties at the 111th Annual International Toy Fair in New York is Disney XD’s and Lucasfilm’s new Star Wars series, ‘Star Wars Rebels.’ Although Lucasfilm has slowly been offering up character reveals and tidbits surrounding the new show, details have been slowly leaking through upcoming products including this 16-month 2015 calendar from Trends International.

'Star Wars Rebels' CalendarThe back of the calendar reveals the art for each of the months which either depicts characters engaging in battle, group shots or individual poses which also names them. In chronological order, the reveals/non-reveals are: Ezra, Hera, Chopper, Kanan, Sabine (depicted wearing a helmet as well as not), Inquisitor and Zeb.

‘Star Wars Rebels’ Character Reveal: Ezra, New Teasers Debut February 17

Ezra in 'Star Wars Rebes' © LucasfilmIn ‘Star Wars Rebels, fans will see the rise of the Rebellion through Ezra: a 14-year-old con artist who learns to fight for a greater good. The seemingly-reluctant hero was revealed earlier in a video filled with character concept art, early animation, and creator interviews, which you will find embedded below.

Growing up on his own in the age of the Empire, Ezra has had to rely on his wit and cunning to get by. As voice actor Taylor Gray explains, ‘He’s very street-smart, he’s a pickpocket, he’s a little thief. But he’s doing it all because he needs to survive.’ Executive producer Dave Filoni adds that Ezra is not a bad kid. Although he may enjoy stealing from the Empire, his behavior has been influenced by the world around him — a world that is under Imperial control.
