Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment today confirmed an earlier report by Stitch Kingdom that Disney XD’s ‘Star Wars Rebels’ complete first season will be available to own on 2-Disc Blu-ray and 3-Disc DVD on September 1 (now available for pre-order).
Dentsu Entertainment USA, Inc. has entered into an agreement with Disney XD in the U.S. to telecast 26 half-hour episodes of the Japanese brand phenomenon ‘Yo-kai Watch,’ it was announced jointly today by LEVEL-5, Inc. and Dentsu Entertainment USA, Inc.
‘Yo-kai Watch’ is an animated comedy series that follows the hilarious misadventures of an average human boy and his involvement with the mischievous Yo-kai all around him. Our young hero obtains a special watch, empowering him to discover and summon the mysterious Yo-kai, befriend them, and then work together to solve everyday problems… problems that are often caused by other trouble-making Yo-kai!
Ahead of any official announcement, Amazon has begun listing the first season of ‘Star Wars Rebels’ for release on both DVD and Blu-ray on September 1, 2015, which puts it well behind the launch date of season two, which will be June 20.
The entries lack descriptions, so there is no hint at any potential bonus features, but they do report a running time of 450 minutes which appears to be 2 hours longer than the combined length of the first season, including ‘Spark of Rebellion.’ Even account for the introductory shorts, there seems to be a substantial amount of previously unreleased content to be expected.
While nothing from the Marvel Cinematic Universe was shared at this weekend’s ‘Marvel Unlimited+’ members only panel at New Jersey’s first Atlantic City Boardwalk Con, footage from upcoming animated series was shared with the attending audience. Among the footage was an extended clip from the upcoming Disney XD animated series, ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ — or to be more precise, one of the shorts that will lead into the series. The shorts will actually help establish the Guardians for the viewing audience with origin stories and the like.
After 126 episodes, five one-hour specials and a record-breaking Disney Channel Original Movie, the final episode of the Emmy Award-winning and BAFTA-nominated animated series, ‘Phineas and Ferb’ will air on June 12, following a 73-hour long marathon of every preceding episode. The series will continue to be presented daily on Disney XD and Disney Channels around the world and it will be followed up by a standalone hour-long special ‘The O.W.C.A.Files’ later this year.
Every ‘Phineas and Ferb’ story ever told will be presented in a 73-hour marathon beginning Tuesday, June 9 at 8:00 pm ET/PT leading to the ultimate story capper, ‘Last Day of Summer,’ which premieres on Friday, June 12 at 9:00 pm ET/PT, simulcasted on both Disney XD and Disney Channel.
Sarah Michelle Gellar will join the talented voice cast that includes her husband Freddie Prinze Jr., Vanessa Marshall, Steve Blum, Tiya Sircar, Taylor Gray and David Oyelowo.
Continuing the epic tradition of the legendary Star Wars saga, ‘Star Wars Rebels’ unfolds between the events of Star Wars Episodes III and IV and tells the story of the motley but clever crew of the starship Ghost, who together face threatening new villains, encounter colorful adversaries and embark on thrilling adventures. In its second season, ‘Star Wars Rebels’ will feature recurring appearances by fan-favorite characters including Darth Vader and Ahsoka Tano.
The LEGO Group today announced that Disney XD has acquired the five-episode ‘LEGO Star Wars: Droid Tales’ mini-series to air later this year. The animated mini-series consists of five 22-minute episodes that will re-tell the Star Wars saga in chronological order from Star Wars: The Phantom Menace up through Star Wars: Return of the Jedi.
According to the report in the Wall Street Journal, the series will feature Scrooge, Huey, Dewey, Louie and Donald, as well as Duckworth, Gyro Gearloose, Launchpad McQuack, Flintheart Glomgold, Magica DeSpell & Poe, Ma Beagle and the Beagle Boys (Burger Beagle, Bouncer Beagle), Mrs. Beakley and Webbigail ‘Webby’ Vanderquack.
We will provide more information as it becomes available to us.

‘Future-Worm!,’ created by the Emmy Award-winning director Ryan Quincy is coming to Disney XD in short-form and a newly announced full-length series beginning in Fall 2015. Quincy, who joined the Disney Television Animation team in 2013, is the executive producer. ‘Future-Worm!’ follows Danny, an optimistic 12-year-old who creates a time machine lunch box and befriends Future Worm, a fearless worm from the future. Together, the duo navigates through space, time and study hall, embarking on adventures and spontaneously making up new ones along the way.
Disney XD has ordered a second season of Disney Television Animation’s animated comedy adventure ‘Star vs. The Forces of Evil’ ahead of the series premiere on Monday, March 30 at 8:00 pm ET/PT. Initial fan response in terms of fan art was cited as the reason for the announcement.
Created and executive-produced by 2009 California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) graduate Daron Nefcy, ‘Star vs. The Forces of Evil’ follows fiercely awesome teen princess Star Butterfly. After receiving an all-powerful magic wand for her 14th birthday, Star is sent by her Royal Parents to live with the Diaz family on Earth, bringing along her own unique inter-dimensional style to her new home. Together with the Diaz’s teenage son, Marco, they navigate high school and embark on dimension-hopping adventures across the multiverse while keeping her wand out of the clutches of arch-nemesis Ludo and his monstrous forces of evil.
