Disney-IMAX Deal Extended Through 2017, Includes Marvel, ‘Star Wars’ and Pixar Films


The Walt Disney Company and the IMAX Corporation today announced that their exhibition agreement has been extended through 2017 and includes films from Walt Disney Studios, Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm and Pixar Animation Studios.

Highlights of the deal include the highly anticipated Star Wars stand-alone film Rogue One and Star Wars: Episode VIII; Marvel’s Ant-Man, Captain America: Civil War, Doctor Strange, Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and Thor: Ragnarok; Disney/Pixar’s Finding Dory and Toy Story 4 (in limited release); and Disney’s The Finest Hours, Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass, The Jungle Book and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales’ Begins Production in Australia

Production has commenced on location in Australia on Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer Films’ epic comedy adventure Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, directed by Espen Sandberg & Joachim Rønning, the fifth entry in the blockbuster franchise inspired by the classic Disney Theme Parks attraction, which has reaped $3.7 billion in worldwide box office. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales will film entirely at Village Roadshow Studios and on locations within Queensland, Australia.

‘Pirates of the Caribbean 5’ in Theaters July 7, 2017

According to a tweet by ERCboxoffice, the fifth installment in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise will sail into theaters on July 7, 2017.

The production which has faced troubles and delays is rumored to be subtitled Dead Man Tell No Tales but details on its plot are few and far between and even farther from official. Filming is set to begin in January 2015 in Puerto Rico and New Orleans, amongst other locations.
