Confirming earlier reports by Stitch Kingdom, Disney Junior has announced that a new multi-episode story arc premiering March 4 on Disney Channel will feature an addition to the McStuffins family. In the clip below, Mom explains to Doc that her new sibling won’t arrive in the way she and her brother did, but instead will be adopted into their ‘forever family.’
Anthony Anderson, Molly Ringwald, Ellen Pompeo , Gabourey Sidibe and Vanessa Williams will guest star on Disney Junior’s critically acclaimed ‘Doc McStuffins,’ an animated series about a little girl who aspires to be a doctor like her mom and runs a clinic for stuffed animals and toys out of her backyard playhouse. They join previously announced guest star Christopher ‘Ludacris’ Bridges in Season Four, slated to debut this summer.
The new season will find Doc and her toy friends magically transported to a make-believe town, made up entirely of toys, where Doc serves as chief resident of the Toy Hospital.
In the upcoming ‘Doc McStuffins’ episoded titled ‘Doc McStuffins Goes to Washington,’ Doc and the toys travel to Washington D.C. to meet the First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama. Airing on Disney Channel on Child Health Day (Monday, October 5, 2015) at 9:00 am, the First Lady invites Doc and other kids who are making a difference in their community to the White House to be honored in a special ceremony. While there, the First Lady appoints Doc the official ‘toy doctor’ for the White House.
Nominations for the 42nd Annual Annie Awards were announced earlier today, honoring the best animation in film, television, video games and beyond for the previous year. The Walt Disney Company made a strong showing, as one might expect, with Big Hero 6 and ‘Disney’s Mickey Mouse’ cartoons, but Craig McCracken’s ‘Wonder Over Yonder’ on Disney XD is also respectable in its showing, while new series ‘Star Wars Rebels’ struggled to make an impact with just one nomination, as did ‘Sofia the First’ which failed to show at all.
Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has announced that the Disney Junior favorite, ‘Doc McStuffins: School of Medicine,’ will be available to own on DVD on September 9, 2014. The compilation DVD includes five episodes that look at the various specialties in which doctors practice medicine. In addition, the DVD includes an exclusive Doc McStuffins dress up play set.
Broken toys had nothing to fear this past weekend at Disney D23 Expo in Anaheim, California as Doc McStuffins made her debut to meet and greet with fans — and cuddles were definitely prescribed. We were fortunate to catch up with Doc between appointments where she proudly displayed one of the in-booth giveaways from Disney Junior: a tote with her own likeness on it.
No word at this time if and when she’ll be making appearances in Disney Parks but given her immense popularity and having been recently added to Disney Junior Live On Stage (alongside Princess Sofia the First who started appearing not too long ago at the Disneyland Resort and just yesterday began appearing at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at the Walt Disney World Resort), it’s a good bet she just may.
Feld Entertainment, producer of Disney on Ice and other live touring staged productions featuring your favorite Disney characters, will be launching a new touring show, ‘Disney Junior Live on Tour! Pirate and Princess Adventure’ featuring characters from some of Disney Junior’s hottest stars.
If you’ve seen at least three advertisements on children’s television lately, you’ve no doubt seen the one for CuddleUppets by [email protected] For the uninitiated, CuddleUppets are precisely what the earworm of the jingle says — blankets with puppets. Children can wrap themselves up with the cuddly blanket portion of the CuddleUppets while manipulating the puppet portion with one hand. For your convenience, we’ve embedded the commercial below — you’re welcome!
Beginning February 1, 2013, Disney Channel and Disney Junior will begin running interstitials titled ‘We Are Doc McStuffins’ in celebration of black history month. The campaign is inspired by and features Dr. Myiesha Taylor, Dr. Aletha Maybank and Dr. Naeemah Ghafur, who created the ‘We Are Doc McStuffins’ movement to celebrate women of color who are doctors, meant to inspire youth.
In support of the Disney Junior series, Dr. Taylor collected pictures of 131 African-American women physicians and sent them in a collage to Disney. Taylor also founded the Artemis Medical Society to provide mentoring, networking opportunities and advocacy for women doctors.
