Before Hasbro begins producing Disney Princess and Frozen dolls for Disney in 2016, they will debut a full line of dolls and accessories for the upcoming Disney Channel Original Movie, ‘Descendants.’ At a recent visit to their International Toy Fair showroom in New York City, we got a preview of the full line of dolls and accessories that will launch later this year in support of the film. The dolls were presented in a fun, immersive environment which also featured a couple of the props used in the film (and reproduced as doll accessories). Below you will find a gallery of our photos from the event as well as a video tour and close-up looks at each of the dolls.
Just ahead of tomorrow’s start of the International Toy Fairy in New York City, Hasbro has released a first look at its upcoming line of fashion dolls based on this year’s Disney Channel Original Movie, ‘Descendants.’ Pictures here are Mal and Evie, daughters of Maleficent and the Evil Queen respectively.
Available in stores in Fall 2015, the dolls are based off their unique look in the telefilm and each will come an iconic locket and sticker. They will retail for $19.99 each.
With an official announcement expected later today by Disney Store North America, Disney Store France has already shared a first look at the upcoming limited edition 17″ Anna, Elsa and Kristoff dolls being released next month in honor of the Frozen Fever short being released in theaters alongside Disney’s Cinderella.
Along with the image seen here, edition sizes were announced along with the number being reserved for Europe. While Anna and Elsa will be an edition size of 5000 each, with 1000 of each being reserved for European sales, Kristoff is a much smaller edition size of just 3500, but also with 1000 reserved for Europe, only 2500 remain for the rest of the globe.
Hasbro and Disney Consumer Products today announced that starting in 2016, Hasbro will be granted worldwide rights (except for Japan) to produce dolls based on the Disney Princess properties including Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid and Frozen. This will further expand Hasbro’s existing deal which already encompasses Star Wars and Marvel properties.
The deal most likely spells trouble for Mattel, which currently has had the lock on producing dolls and other products in the Disney Princess line. We have reached out for comment to Disney Consumer Products, but have not yet heard back regarding how Mattel’s existing relationship will be affected by the new deal with Hasbro. Mattel’s Hot Wheels line has recently introduced a line of vehicles inspired by Marvel properties.
Diamond Select Toys (DST) today announced it will be launching a new line of limited edition Marvel figure collector sets based on Mego’s World’s Greatest Super Heroes line. The new line launches with the Amazing Spider-Man (now available for pre-orders with a ship time of late 2014) and will also include Captain America, Iron Man and Wolverine. Each collectible set — limited to a production run of 3,000 pieces — will retail for $80 and come complete with alternate hands and parts.
