EXCLUSIVE: Duffy to Make Disney Store North America Debut in February
He has sailed across oceans and traveled continents, from Tokyo to Anaheim to Orlando. Along the way, he has captured the hearts and imaginations of many fans of all ages. Most recently, he’s been delighting millions of television viewers from his appearances on programs such as ‘The Neighbors’ and ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and may even soon be getting a tv show of his own. He is Duffy the Disney Bear and beginning February 13, he’ll be arriving at a Disney Store near you.
Previously only available exclusively at the Disney Parks around the world, Duffy has recently begun appearing at Disney Store locations in the United Kingdom and France and will soon be available at Disney Store locations in North America.
In addition to the 17″ Duffy and his many outfits that have already been sold at the theme parks, however, Disney Store will have several exclusive products and sizes such as this 40″ tall jumbo sized Duffy ($100). Other Disney Store exclusive sizes include the 20″ medium plush ($20), 28″ large plush ($40) and the 7″ mini bean-bag plush ($10).
In addition to the myriad of sizes, Disney Store will also offer another exclusive: the Sailor Mickey with Sailor Duffy plush, available both in 17″ medium ($30) and 28″ large ($60) sizes. This adorable pair pays homage to Duffy’s story (currently available in Amazon Kindle

Duffy the Disney Bear Anniversary Book Release and Passholder Gift Event
On Friday, October 14, both the Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts will be commemorating one year of Duffy the Disney Bear being in the parks with a book release, signing and a special gift for Annual Passholders.
At Walt Disney World, Disney Design Group artist Monty Maldovan will be on-hand at Disney’s Traders in Epcot near the entrance to World Showcase to sign copies of the new book from 11 am to 1 pm.
As a bonus gift, the first 750 Annual Passholders who present their AP to cast members at Disney’s Traders in Epcot and the first 250 Annual Passholders to present their APs at Treasures in Paradise at Disney California Adventure when the shops open will receive a limited edition tshirt designed for the 17″ Duffy plush.
Duffy will also be available to meet and greet with guests in his pumpkin outfit.

Duffy the Disney Bear and Accessories Now Available Online at DisneyStore.com
Nearly a year after his introduction to North America at the Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts, DisneyStore.com has begun selling the popular stuffed toy version of Duffy online along with various costumes normally sold only inside the parks. Also available are variants such as the ‘It’s My Birthday’ and ‘My First Duffy Bear’ along with some seasonal editions such as ‘Halloween Pumpkin’ Duffy, ‘Patriotic Duffy’ and the ’40th Anniversary Walt Disney World Duffy.’
In additions to the costumes such as Buzz Lightyear, Woody, Lightning McQueen, Sailor, Pirate, My First Visit to Walt Disney World and the various countries, you can also purchase pins featuring Duffy and even newer items such as the light chaser toy and the Mickey ears.
Visit DisneyStore.com and in the ‘what are you looking for?’ box, simply type in Duffy to be taken to the dedicated category.

Disney Store Files Application to Attend UniBEARsity
Perhaps inspired by the success of bringing Duffy back from overseas at Tokyo Disneyland where he is a phenomenon, Disney Consumer Products has made a gesture that indicates plans to bring another Japanese bear-exclusive, this one from Disney Store Japan — UniBEARsity. The company has recently applied for a trademark for the use of UniBEARsity for ‘Toys, games and playthings; gymnastic and sporting articles (except clothing); hand-held units for playing electronic games other than those adapted for use with an external display screen or monitor; Christmas stockings; Christmas tree ornaments and decorations; snow globes.’
The UniBEARsity line focuses on Mocha and Pudding, teddy-bear versions of Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse respectively, as created by Mickey and Minnie as part of a homework assignment from Professor Ludwig von Drake at Disney University. A translated version of the UniBEARsity backstory can be found at fan site Duffy’s Closet. The entire current UniBEARsity products available in Japan can be viewed online at the Disney Store Japan website.
If nothing else, it appears that Duffy has also recently become an alumni of the school with a brand new UniBEARsity outfit, according to this forum thread.

Disney to Join Forces with SEAL Team Six?; Duffy’s Girlfriend Coming to Parks
It’s an unfortunate pairing, but it appears that the Walt Disney Company has made significant gestures in both honoring the United States Navy’s SEAL Team Six, the counter-terrorism unit responsible for the recent assassination of Osama bin Laden as well bringing Duffy the Disney Bear’s gal pal Shelliemay to the parks, or at least on merchandise.
Several trademarks for SEAL TEAM 6 have been recently applied for, covering areas such as: ‘Education; providing of training; entertainment; sporting and cultural activities;’ ‘Toys, games and playthings; gymnastic and sporting articles (except clothing); hand-held units for playing electronic games other than those adapted for use with an external display screen or monitor; Christmas stockings; Christmas tree ornaments and decorations; snow globes;’ and ‘Clothing, footwear, headgear.’
We have to imagine that this move was made in partnership with the United States Government and proceeds, or a portion thereof, will go to benefit specific organizations. More information as this becomes available.
In a (hopefully) completely unrelated move, while the trademark applications for SHELLIEMAY don’t necessarily mean that Duffy’s gal pal will be showing up at the Disney Parks in North America, the intent to offer merchandising featuring her image is a strong indicator.
