LOS ANGELES, Oct. 1 — The famed Hollywood El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood has been upgraded to 3D cinema leader RealD’s XL Cinema System in time for the highly-anticipated debut of Disney PIXAR’s Toy Story and Toy Story 2 Disney Digital 3D(TM) double feature beginning October 2nd. Powered by RealD for 3D presentations since the release of Disney’s Chicken Little in 2005, the landmark El Capitan Theatre is the highest attended RealD 3D theatre in the world.
“The El Capitan is a state of the art movie palace which has been equipped with RealD 3D technology for many years,” said Michael V. Following the El Capitan Theatre on Twitter Can Get You Free Food, Exclusive Opportunities and More
Smack-dab in the heart of Hollywood, California, the El Capitan Theatre brings a spot of Disney to one of the world’s most famous neighborhoods. Across from the Kodak Theatre (home to the Academy Awards) and the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, the theatre is a result of a $14 million dollar renovation in which Disney literally re-built the theatre to faithfully restore to its original grandeur.
Not original to the theatre but just as welcome is the Mighty Wurlitzer which entertains guests with great Disney music and sing-a-longs. Disney characters often show up prior to the film to present a show on the theatre’s large stage. If that’s not enough, new movies often bring an exciting experience along for the ride, be it meeting your favorite princesses or running the obstacle course at the new G-Force Experience.
In 2005, the El Capitan was joined by the equally delightful Disney’s Soda Fountain and Studio Store. Gawk at Hannah Montana’s signed guitar and other memorabilia and the countless number of photos and autographs of celebrities who sat in the very same seat as you dine or feast on amazing ice cream. Check out the gift shop which features exclusive merchandise and pins that can purchased only here.
And even if there are no celebrities around, you can still find plenty of stars up and down Hollywood Boulevard. You’ll find Disneyland’s special star right at the entrance of the Soda Fountain and Studio Store with Winnie-the-Pooh’s and Donald Duck’s close by. Just a little further down the street, you’ll find the stars of other Disney icons such as Mickey Mouse, Snow White, Roy O. and (of course) Walt Disney. In fact, Walt has two!
So how can it possibly get any better than this? It’s as easy as a couple of mouse clicks! The El Capitan Theatre would like to invite you to follow it on Twitter. Followers of the movie house are frequently offered special treats such as free popcorn, free hot dogs and more. And in the coming months, look for exclusive opportunities available only to those who follow its updates.
