Lawsuit Against Disney Parks Places $1M Pricetag on Trip’s Trip
Suffering ‘pain, shock and mental anguish’ and an inability to perform ‘normal activities’ since tripping and falling along a walkway in Epcot, Judith Franzen of New York has filed a federal lawsuit against Walt Disney World / Disney Parks and Resorts last Friday. The complaint, which seeks an even one million dollars in damages, asserts that Walt Disney World was previously aware of the unnamed condition of the walkway which caused the accident on April 22, 2008 and that the resort was ‘negligent, careless, reckless and grossly negligent.’
Report: Disney Bus Collision at Epcot Injures Eight; One Seriously Hurt
WESH and the Orlando Sentinel are reporting that a Disney Bus rear-ended a Mears Transportation near the Epcot Toll Plaza earlier today at approximately 2:30 pm ET, injuring eight with the driver of the Disney Bus having been airlifted to the hospital in a ‘very serious condition.’ There were 20 guests in all aboard the Disney Bus with only the driver aboard the Mears bus.

Monorail TRON Makes Debut at Walt Disney World
The Monorail skin advertising the upcoming TRON Legacy film from Walt Disney Studios has made its debut today on the Epcot circuit at the Walt Disney Resort as demonstrated here by this photo courtesy of Disney.

Details for 2010 Walt Disney World Wine and Dine Half Marathon Announced
The Walt Disney World resort has announced the details for the upcoming Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon events taking place October 1 – 3, 2010.
On Friday, October 1, 2010, the Disney’s Kids’ Races will be held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Track & Field Complex beginning at 4 pm for children ages 8 and under. Registration includes: Commemorative T-shirt; Personalized Bib (Must register by September 3, 2010 for name to appear on bib); Trick-or-Treat bag of refreshments; Commemorative finisher medallion.
Race details and age groups are as follows:
- 12 months and under – Diaper Dash for crawlers
- 1 – 3 years old – 100m dash
- 4 – 6 years old – 200m dash
- 7 – 8 years old – 400m dash
On Saturday, October 2, at 7:00 am will be the Mickey’s Halloween Family Fun Run 5K. The only 5K run to take place inside the Magic Kingdom, runners are encouraged to dress in costume (with safety in mind) as they travel along the course filled with Halloween-themed entertainment. Registration includes: Admission to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party for the night of Sunday, October 3, 2010; Commemorative Champion® T-shirt; * Goody Bag; Personalized Bib (must register by August 2, 2010 for name to appear on bib); Trick-or-Treat bag of race refreshments; Commemorative 5K finisher medallion.
Registration for D23 Illuminations Event at Walt Disney World Now Open
As Stitch Kingdom reported earlier, D23 members who will be visiting Walt Disney World on May 31 are invited to a free Illuminations private viewing and dessert reception along with preferred seating to the final performance of this year’s Flower Power Concert Series featuring Tony Orlando.
D23 members may request one ticket for themselves and one additional guest. Theme park admission is not included in this offer and is required. Tickets will be available at Epcot’s Guest Relations beginning at 9 am on May 31st. A photo ID and your D23 membership card are required to pick up tickets. Event subject to change without notice.
Is Epcot’s Test Track Running on Empty?
The Orlando Sentinel is reporting that with a sponsorship contract set to expire this year with GM, the auto maker (who reportedly pays Disney around $5million annually for the privilege) is in no financial position to go another lap with the attraction. Talks are in the works but the economic gloom is suggesting that Disney should start talking to Lexus on how to make Test Track drive itself. Full article here.

The international calendar has finally posted the hours for Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. At this time, entertainment schedules for specific days have not yet been added for these parks.
