Tinker Bell and her sister Periwinkle took to the Mainland earlier today to play host to the premiere of Secret of the Wings in New York City. The fairy twins – born of the same baby’s laugh — graciously welcomed some of the cast and crew from the film along with local celebrities and their families.
In attendance were Mae Whitman (Tinker Bell), Anjelica Huston (Queen Clarion), Timothy Dalton (Lord Milori), Raven Symone (Iridessa), Matt Lanter (Sled) and filmmakers Peggy Holmes and Michael Wigert. Joining them were Disney Channel star Debby Ryan, celebrity stylist Ken Paves, Miss USA Oliva Culpo, Kerry Butler, Mike Tyson, Clare Foley, Alexis Welch, Faith Wladyka, Brent Zachery and more.

Periwinkle to Join Pixie Hollow at Disney Parks in October
In honor of Secret of the Wings, which debuts on 3D Blu-ray on October 23, Disney Parks has officially confirmed it will be introducing Tinker Bell’s new wintery friend, Periwinkle, as a meet & greet character at the Disneyland and Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom theme parks. No specific date has been given other than her appearances will begin in October.
For Tinker Bell and the other warm season fairies, the Winter Woods remains a mysterious and forbidden place. Secret of the Wings takes audiences on an amazing journey of discovery with Tink, into this forbidden world where she discovers a magical secret that changes her life forever.

Gail Carson Levine and illustrator David Christiana will be appearing at the Disneyland Resort to offer an appearance and signing for the new title. On Saturday, June 26, 2010, they’ll be at the Disney Gallery on Main Street, USA in the Disneyland park from 1 pm to 3 pm (park admission required) and will be at the Brisa Courtyard next to the Grand Californian Hotel on Sunday, June 27, 2010 from 2 pm to 4 pm.
Fairies and the Quest for Never Land book will be available for $18.99, plus tax at shop opening on the day of the event. There is a limit of two items per guest and no personal items may be signed, items must be purchased at the event and is subject to availability.

First Look: Disney Taps into Silly Bandz Craze with Classic and Pixar Properties
A couple of weeks ago, the official Disney Parks blog made it known that Disney had plans to jump on the Silly / Crazy Bandz tween craze and was going to introduce a line of Disney-themed (shaped) elastic bands.
Today we get our first look thanks to a tip from the Animal Bracelets Blog who notes that the full packaging for one of the Disney Princess sets can be found on Amazon.com
So far, six sets are being offered (all pictured below): Mickey Mouse & Friends (Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, Donald, Daisy); Princess #1 (Sleeping Beauty, Belle, Cinderella, Snow White); Princess #2 (Tiana, Jasmine, Ariel, Snow White); Disney Fairies (Tinker Bell, Silvermist, Fawn, Rosetta, Iridessa); Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story #1 (Woody, Buzz, Jessie, Bullseye, Rocketship); Toy Story #2 (Alien, Hamm, Slinky Dog, Mr. Potato Head, Rex); Toy Story #3 (Lotso, Twitch, Sparks, Chunk, Stretch) and Disney/Pixar’s CARS (Lightning McQueen, Snot Rod, DJ, Boost, Wingo).
UPDATE: 5/4/10 – We spoke to Forever Collectibles who are manufacturing the products, known as Logo Bandz, and have learned that despite pre-orders promising a delivery of July, the products may be shipping as early as mid-June. In addition to the Disney line of Character Bandz (which also includes two additional Toy Story assortments we hope to be getting more information on soon), Forever is creating lines for NHL, NFL, NBA, MLB, AFC/NFC and College teams. Also on the Disney front will be a line of Marvel inspired Character Bandz including Spider-Man (which we have a photo of that’s yet to be posted), Iron Man, Fantastic Four, Wolverine and two sets simply titled Superheros.
UPDATE: 6/8/10 – The Disney Bandz have begun appearing at various retail locations in Walt Disney World. On a local level, the best place to check is Modell’s (because the manufacturer produces mostly sports-related product) and sightings have been reported at Walgreens. Of course, Amazon.com

Winner of PixieHollow.com’s ‘Design a Fairy House’ Contest Honored in Ceremony at Epcot
On April 3, Disney Online announced the winner of its “Design a Fairy House Art Contest,” which ran in February on the popular online world for girls, Disney Fairies Pixie Hollow (www.PixieHollow.com). The fairy house, inspired by 15-year-old winning designer, Zoe P., from Frazier Park, Calif., was revealed during a special reveal ceremony in the Pixie Hollow Garden at the 17th Annual Epcot® International Flower and Garden Festival. Zoe and her family were in attendance to celebrate the momentous occasion, as her fairy house will be on display for the duration of the festival.
The winning house design was selected by DisneyToon Studios filmmakers, currently working on the upcoming “Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue,” coming to Disney Blu-ray and DVD this Fall. Director Brad Raymond, and the film’s producer, Helen Kalafatic, attended the celebration to personally congratulate the winner and meet with Tinker Bell fans.

Disney Online’s Pixie Hollow Announces Animal Friends for Member Fairies (Video)
There’s a hush in Disney Fairies Pixie Hollow virtual world this month as the new Animal Friends are fluttering about in the meadows. Every baby Animal Friend needs a Fairy to help them grow. From fireflies and ladybugs to hummingbirds and dragonflies, there’s a baby animal perfect for every Fairy.
Fairies have the chance to choose their very own baby animal, give it a special name and care for it when it’s sick. Each Animal Friend species has a different food they like to eat and a unique game they like to play, and they all love to learn new tricks as they grow older. To make animal friends happy, Fairies must play their favorite games! Bounce a hummingbird into the air to teach them how to fly, race with a fast-flying dragonfly, play a memory game with a firefly, or even play hide-and-seek with a ladybug friend. Whether a Fairy chooses a ladybug or a firefly, the experience will always be critterific!
As players continue to care for their Animal Friend, it will grow from a hatchling to a full grown Animal Helper. When Animal Friends are full grown, Fairies release them so they can fly on their own. Players can then fly over to Beck’s Animal Nursery and choose another Animal Friend to help. Fairies earn badges to showcase in their Leaf Journal by helping Animal Friends!

Toy Fair 2010: Basic Fun Brings Disney to the Koosh, Lets You Bring Disney Anywhere
In some of the biggest toy news this year, Basic Fun is breathing new life into the original Koosh and, for the first time ever, has united the iconic toy with some of your favorite Disney, Pixar, Muppets and Marvel Super Hero Squad friends.
As a Toy Story 3 licensee, Basic Fun is expanding its already established Games on the Go key chain editions of popular board games with a whole suite of new Toy Story 3 key chains and portable games including some new games inspired by the film. Games like Buzz Buzz are even electronic, allowing you to test your (or your surgeon’s) dexterity.
Not quite as small, but just as portable, are Disney Fairies and Mickey and Friends editions of the popular party game Twister. The innovative design boasts a full size 54″ x 72″ themed mat with the spinner integrated directly into the carrying case.

First Look: Disney Online’s World of Cars, Plus News for Other Disney MMOs
Earlier today I had the opportunity to visit Disney Online at the International Toy Fair in New York City and got a preview at Disney’s newest massively multiplayer online (MMO) game, The World of Cars in addition to some of the new and not-yet-released enhancements to Disney Online’s other worlds.
Sharing a lot in common with the Club Penguin model, the World of Cars is completely Adobe Flash-based. This means there are no downloads required aside from the common plug-in that most folks should already have. Although I probably should know better than to be impressed to how the game has been implemented inside the Flash engine, I still am. The game looks very appealing with a great heads-up display (HUD) loaded with information and controls while still leaving plenty of room for the actual gameplay.
As you might imagine, you will assume the role of a car in Radiator Springs. The action in the game takes place after the first movie — Lightning returns to the sleepy town after winning the Piston Cup and has set up shop in the middle of Downtown Radiator Springs. Throughout the game, you’ll encounter all of your favorite characters from the film with all new original dialogue as recorded by the original actors with exception to Owen Wilson (Lightning), Paul Newman (Doc Hudson) and George Carlin (Fillmore), the latter two having passed away prior to the studio work. For those three, Disney has brought in soundalikes who do a really good job at filling in some rather large tires.
Meeting the characters, who are non-player characters (NPCs), meaning they’re automatic and interaction is quite limited, you’ll often find a yellow exclamation point over their heads. This means they want to talk to you and might even have a job for you. Performing jobs for the characters will yield you rewards, often being money and additional jobs.
