In advance of the Blu-ray release of Thor: The Dark World (available to own February 25, (pre-order)), Marvel Studios and Walt Disney Studios has released one of the deleted scenes from the bonus features. Titled ‘Loki: The First Avenger,’ the scene features banter (and a little magic) between Thor and Loki and, well, pretty much what you might expect from the title. You can find the clip embedded below.
Potentially adding insult to injury — after confirming no foreseeable plans for a 3D Blu-ray domestic release — it turns out that the total length of the bonus features for the March 18, 2014 Blu-ray release of Frozen (pre-order) sum up to less than 40 minutes — and that includes four music videos.
We now have the running times for each of the bonus features, as per the British Board of Film Classification and aside from confirming that there appears to be no audio commentary, it also appears that some of the behind-the-scenes ‘documentary’ type material comes up short. The individual bonus features and their approximate length in minutes:seconds are as follows:
Frozen audiences are invited to join the act — literally — as more than 1,000 theaters nationwide introduce an all-new sing-along version of Disney’s Oscar®-nominated, Golden Globe®-winning big-screen adventure beginning Jan. 31, 2014.
‘Frozen fans have embraced the film’s original songs and its soundtrack with such passion — there are countless YouTube videos from people singing songs like “Let It Go” — we decided to create a version that would celebrate that enthusiasm,’ said Dave Hollis, executive vice president, theatrical distribution, The Walt Disney Studios. ‘It’s a great opportunity for families to get together and have some fun with these songs.’
With Oscar nominations for Best Song under its belt, adding to the worldwide phenomenon that it’s already become, Walt Disney Studios has released the full ‘Let It Go’ sequence from Disney’s Frozen in twenty-five different languages. Presented in order, the languages are: English, French, German, Dutch, Mandarin, Swedish, Japanese, Latin American Spanish, Polish, Hungarian, Castilian Spanish, Catalan, Italian, Korean, Serbian, Cantonese, Portuguese, Bahasa Malaysia, Russian, Danish, Bulgarian, Norwegian, Thai, Canadian French and Flemish. You can find it embedded below.
Serving as part of Walt Disney Animation Studio’s research, particularly for the lighting, of Disney’s Frozen, Quebec City’s famed Hôtel de Glace — or Ice Hotel — has revealed the first look at its exclusive, limited Frozen-inspired suite.
Created entirely out of sculpted ice and snow and supervised by the film’s art director Michael Giaimo, the Frozen Suite is modeled after Anna & Elsa’s bedrooms. The collaboration will also include a ‘Frozen Activity Cave’ bringing the wonder of Disney’s wintry tale to life like never before. The suite will be open this weekend and remain open through March 23.
Walt Disney Studios and Marvel Studios have shared with us the first minute of their new One Shot, titled ‘All Hail the King’ which will be featured as one of the bonuses on the February 25 release of Thor: The Dark World Blu-ray (pre-order), which we have embedded below.
The short takes place after the events of Iron Man 3 in which Trevor Slattery is now an infamous icon. He’s also locked up in a high-security prison. Luckily, his newfound profile has brought him celebrity and protection on the inside — and the actor has gladly agreed to an in-depth profile with a documentary filmmaker. The short stars Sir Ben Kingsley — reprising his role — and Scoot McNairy.
In the next (and perhaps final) turn in a maze of confusion surrounding a 3D Blu-ray release of Disney’s Frozen, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has independently confirmed to us that there are no announced plans for a 3D release at this time, reminding us that Frozen will be available on Digital 3D on February 25, as per the initial announcement.
The Golden Globes that Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Frozen took home last night for Best Animated Feature was still warm when news that Disney Theatrical was prepping to head to the Broadway stage by way of Fortune.com. The article, which spoke of the film’s momentum, does use the term ‘Broadway’ twice (once in the headline), but never directly attributes it to Bob Iger, the CEO and Chairman of The Walt Disney Company.
As we first announced, one of the Blu-ray bonus features for Thor: The Dark World (available February 25) is a new Marvel One Shot titled All Hail the King.
