FIRST LOOK: ‘Finding Dory’ ‘Piper’ Short Concept Art in Ultra High Resolution

PIPER – Concept Art by Jason Deamer (Production Designer). ©2016 Disney•Pixar. All Rights Reserved.Pixar Animation Studios has provided us with this ultra high resolution first look at concept art for Piper, the short that will play before Finding Dory (June 17, 2016).

Directed by Alan Barillaro, Piper shares the story of a hungry baby sandpiper that suffers from the fear of water (or hydrophobia according to Pixar, though that implies Piper has rabies), who meets a young hermit crab who teaches Piper about the ocean’s waves. The six minute short was scored by Adrian Belew, the lead singer of King Crimson.

‘Finding Dory’ Character Art in High Res (Minus Gerald), Synopsis Update

Walt Disney Studios and Pixar Animation Studios have provided us with high resolution versions of just released character art from Finding Dory (May 27, 2016), which you can find in our gallery below. The key art gives us our first official looks at characters like Becky the Loon, Dory’s parents Charlie and Jenny, the Otters and sea lions Rudder and Fluke (voiced by Idris Elba). However Pixar opted not to release official art for the third sea lion, outcast Gerald. Obviously Pixar is keeping Gerald under wraps for a reason, but we won’t know for certain why until they do — could it be the way he looks? Or perhaps who he is voiced by?

Note that the information only includes what has been officially released so far, so we will have to wait for additional information on characters such as Becky the loon; sea lions Rudder, Fluke and Gerald; Baby Dory; the Otters; etc. Also worth noting is that the details confirm what we recently reported regarding the film taking place one year after Finding Nemo, not six months, as reported elsewhere.
