‘One Life to Live’ Cast Members to Check Into ‘General Hospital’

Frank Valentini, executive producer of “General Hospital,” announced today that Emmy Award-nominated Kassie DePaiva and Emmy winner Roger Howarth, along with fan favorites Michael Easton and Kristen Alderson, will reprise their “One Life to Live” characters and head to “General Hospital” as part of a new storyline for the multi-Emmy Award-winning daytime drama. Production begins late January 2012 in Los Angeles.
“We have a very exciting story planned for the citizens of Port Charles, with Sonny Corinthos at the center of it! I am confident viewers and fans alike will be excited for the arrival of John (Easton), Starr (Alderson), Blair (DePaiva) and Todd (Howarth),” said Valentini. “Incorporating characters from ‘One Life to Live’ continue the legacy of the show as we weave them into ‘General Hospital.’”
With many television, film and stage credits to her name, DePaiva played the role of beautiful Blair Cramer on “One Life to Live” since December 1993. In addition, she played good-girl Chelsea Reardon on the daytime drama “Guiding Light.” Horwath returned to portray Todd Manning on “One Life to Live” in 2011, a role he originated from a day-player to a compelling long-term character. Performing at many prestigious regional theater centers, he has many theater credits to his name, and in addition appeared in the television series “Prey” and in the primetime teen drama “Dawson’s Creek,” as well as the daytime drama “As the World Turns.”
Easton joined the cast of ABC’s long-running “One Life to Live” in 2003 as John McBain.
A published poet, he also played vampire Caleb Morley on the ABC daytime drama “Port Charles,” among many other television and film credits. As for Alderson, she continuously played the role of Starr Manning on multi award-winning “One Life to Live” since March 1998, the precocious young daughter of Blair Cramer and Todd Manning.
Garnering eight Daytime Emmys in 2011, “General Hospital” airs at 3:00 p.m., ET, 2:00 p.m., PT on the ABC Television Network, and on SOAPnet at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT. Winner of a record-setting 10 Emmys for Outstanding Daytime Drama, the program celebrates 49 years of broadcasting on April 1, 2012, and is the longest-running dramatic serial on ABC, having aired close to 12,500 episodes. The show is produced by Time Square Studios for ABC Daytime.
“General Hospital” was created by Frank and Doris Hursley. Frank Valentini is the executive producer. Mary O’Leary, Mercer Barrows and Michelle Henry are producers. Ron Carlivati is the head writer. ‘General Hospital’s’ Damian Spinelli to be Featured in Novel from Disney Hyperion
Following the success of the New York Times bestselling books, ‘The Killing Club’ and ‘Charm!,’ Hyperion and ABC Daytime announced today that they will join efforts to publish a novel based on Damian Spinelli, one of the most beloved characters on ABC-TV’s popular daytime soap, ‘General Hospital,’ to coincide with the show’s 48th anniversary.
Titled The Secret Life of Damian Spinelli (Hyperion; $22.99 hardcover; April 5, 2011 publication date), this book is the story of the endearing, lovable computer genius and geek, Damian Spinelli, and his exploits as a private detective as told to another character on the show, the high-powered attorney of Port Charles, Diane Miller. Filled with mystery and suspense, the pages were found on
Ms. Miller’s stolen computer disc and include never-before-told stories of Port Charles residents-their confessions and behaviors in times of crisis and triumph through Spinelli’s imagination.
Readers will also be able to download The Secret Life of Damian Spinelli as an eBook, as well as an enhanced eBook, which will feature clips from the show and other bonus material.

Marvel Influences ABC’s Daytime Television with ‘What If…’ Webisodes
What if Spider-man joined the Fantastic Four? That was the topic of the very first ‘What If’ comic title from Marvel way back in 1977. Although there wasn’t ever likely to be a ‘What if Marvel joined the Disney family?’ title, we’re all beginning to catch our first glimpses of the new relationship, from Disney selling Marvel merchandise throughout its theme parks to awkwardly and backhandedly promoting the current slate of Marvel Studios films as they continue to be distributed by Paramount.
Today, however, we have learned of a new chapter in the ‘What If’ universe — ABC daytime dramas (or Soaps). Perhaps borrowing from their new cousins, ABC Daytime has decided to produce a series of ten episodes pondering the question ‘what if character W from show X meets character Y from show Z.’
Directed by Frank Valentini, the executive producer of One Life to Live, the characters who will interact are:

The Disney/ABC Television Group (DATG) Scores 19 Daytime Emmy Awards
The Disney/ABC Television Group received 19 Daytime Emmy Awards at the 36th Annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards presented this weekend, August 29th and 30th.
ABC’s “The View” received four Daytime Emmy Awards and made history when the honor of Outstanding Talk Show Host was bestowed on Barbara Walters, Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Sherri Shepherd. It was the first time in the 36 year history of NATAS that multiple talk show hosts were bestowed this honor. The women of “The View” have been nominated for 12 consecutive years in this category; this was their first win.
Other wins for ABC’s “The View” include Outstanding Directing in a Talk Show/Morning Program for Director, Mark Gentile; Outstanding Achievement in Hairstyling and “Outstanding Achievement in Makeup.
