While nothing from the Marvel Cinematic Universe was shared at this weekend’s ‘Marvel Unlimited+’ members only panel at New Jersey’s first Atlantic City Boardwalk Con, footage from upcoming animated series was shared with the attending audience. Among the footage was an extended clip from the upcoming Disney XD animated series, ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ — or to be more precise, one of the shorts that will lead into the series. The shorts will actually help establish the Guardians for the viewing audience with origin stories and the like.
The Walt Disney Company and the IMAX Corporation today announced that their exhibition agreement has been extended through 2017 and includes films from Walt Disney Studios, Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm and Pixar Animation Studios.
Highlights of the deal include the highly anticipated Star Wars stand-alone film Rogue One and Star Wars: Episode VIII; Marvel’s Ant-Man, Captain America: Civil War, Doctor Strange, Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and Thor: Ragnarok; Disney/Pixar’s Finding Dory and Toy Story 4 (in limited release); and Disney’s The Finest Hours, Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass, The Jungle Book and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences today announced that ten films remain in the running in the Visual Effects category for the 87th Oscars, three of which are both Disney and/or Marvel properties. They are: Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy and Maleficent. X-Men: Days of Future Past also remains in the running, with the other finalists being Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Godzilla, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, Interstellar, Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb and Transformers: Age of Extinction.

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment and Marvel Studios have released the newest bonus feature sneak peek from Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy (now available for pre-order), the deleted scene ‘The Kyln Will Have to Do’ in which Corpsman Dey — after dealing with a wardrobe malfunction — expresses concerns to Denarian Saal that the Kyln may be too rough for the ‘bunch of aholes’ that are the Guardians. Although not quite as substantial as its bigger brother, internationally-supported Record Store Day enjoys a second go-around each year in respect to Black Friday. Although Disney’s contributions to Record Store Day have been few in number, they are often substantial and November 28, 2014 is no different. After enjoying CD, digital and even a couple of vinyl releases, the best selling soundtrack to Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is returning to where it belongs: audio cassette.
The limited edition release is exclusive to Record Store Day and can be found at participating independent record stores.
Production has begun on ‘Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy,’ an upcoming animated-television series for Disney XD, featuring the hugely popular characters introduced in the record-breaking Marvel Studios film of the same name. The announcement was made today by Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s Head of Television, at New York Comic-Con. Produced by Marvel Television, the series stars Peter Quill as Star-Lord, the brash adventurer who, to save the universe from its greatest threats, joins forces with a quartet of disparate misfits – fan-favorite Rocket Raccoon, a tree-like humanoid named Groot, the enigmatic, expert fighter Gamora and the rough-edged warrior Drax the Destroyer. The series will premiere in 2015 on the Marvel Universe programming block on Disney XD.
