Via its official blog, Disney Parks has announced that the Magic Kingdom will be hosting two special events for New Year’s Eve this year.
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – The same seasonal magic that brings “snow” flurries to central Florida during Disney Parks holiday events now gives guests the opportunity to experience a horse-drawn “sleigh” ride. And where? Over the river and through the woods, of course!
This year, Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground at Walt Disney World in Florida is offering sleigh rides through the secluded beauty of the 700-acre backwoods resort. From Nov. 29-Dec. 30, 2009, four adults – or two adults and three small children – can climb into a shiny, fire engine-red sleigh, decked out with garland and twinkling holiday lights, and take a relaxing, 25-minute sojourn into the lush forest.
At an appearance at the State Street Macy’s store in Chicago this weekend, Mickey Mouse greeted fans in a brand new outfit inspired by the ‘Sailor Mickey’ helium balloon which will make its debut during the 83rd Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Minnie Mouse was also in attendance, wearing the white sailor’s outfit you’ll find her in aboard the Disney Cruise Line ships.

ANAHEIM, Calif., Nov. 13 — When it comes to celebrating the magic and sparkle of the holidays with friends and loved ones, there’s no place like the Disneyland Resort where, now through Jan. 3, 2010, the holidays shine more brightly than ever.
This holiday season, guests will get to see and meet the newest Disney princess, Tiana, the star of a new show in New Orleans Square at Disneyland Park. In addition, they will enjoy the return of special holiday versions of “it’s a small world” and Haunted Mansion, along with beautiful holiday decor, “A Christmas Fantasy” parade and a nightly snowfall on Main Street, U.S.A.
With so much to celebrate this season, the Disneyland Resort is offering expanded park hours and special savings on vacation packages on selected days. For a preview of the holiday entertainment, along with games, video and special offers, visit www.disneyland.com/holidays.
For the first time during the holidays, guests in Disneyland Park will see “Tiana’s Showboat Jubilee!” – inspired by the new Walt Disney Pictures animated film “The Princess and the Frog.” The rousing, colorful show has a jazz-filled holiday celebration vibe. It begins with a Mardi Gras-style cavalcade from New Orleans Square to the Mark Twain Riverboat in Frontierland. At the landing, Princess Tiana, Prince Naveen and other “Princess and the Frog” characters move onboard and, as the boat takes to the river, Tiana and company entertain guests on shore with a musical show that includes songs from the motion picture. The show runs through Jan. 3, 2010.
Themed entertainment, sparkling decorations and tasty treats add festive warmth to holiday fun at both Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure park.
At Disneyland Park, Sleeping Beauty Castle has been transformed into Sleeping Beauty’s Winter Castle where, after dark, a sensational holiday lighting and special-effects show carries the magic of the holidays from the castle all the way to the Christmas tree in Town Square. The Disneyland Christmas tree is specially designed to present a nightly holiday light show like no other, with more than 62,000 energy-efficient LED lights.

Earlier this week, we told you about the new Sailor Mickey helium balloon that will make its debut during the 83rd Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City.
Today we bring you news of the Sailor Mickey plush by Gund exclusively from Macy’s to commemorate the event. The 18″ collectible plush speaks three phrases: ‘Gosh, you’re great,’ ‘Ahoy there mateys’ and ‘Merry Christmas!’ and includes a bonus alarm clock which doubles as his own personal compass. He retails for $14.95 and can be found in the Holiday department at Macy’s all over or can be purchased online (where you can also check local store inventory).
Representing Disney Cruise Line, Sailor Mickey will tower over the streets of New York on Thanksgiving morning as part of the Macy’s 83rd Annual Thanksgiving Day Parade procession. Sailor Mickey (pictured left, upper left corner), is 48.1 feet long, 33.6 feet wide and 60.9 feet tall and will be filled with 14,750 cubic feet of helium during his maiden voyage. The anchor on which he rides is approximately four times the size of an actual cruise ship anchor.
Other new balloons this year include the Pillsbury Doughboy, a new Ronald McDonald and an all-new Spider-man.
