Adventures by Disney has announced an exciting add-on package for guests visiting the Disneyland Resort with a package vacation. The experience, titled ‘Lights…Camera…Magic!’ takes guests on a day-long, guided excursion into the world of Hollywood in the way that only Disney can.

The tour includes a guided tour of the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, including a trip into the Disney Studio Archives, a shopping trip at the Studio Store and lunch at the famous Walt Disney Studios Commissary. Also included is a behind-the-scenes private visit to either the famed Grauman’s Chinese Theater or the Kodak Theater, home to the Academy Awards®. After exploring Hollywood Boulevard, the fun continues to the Sunset Strip and the world famous Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills and finally to beautiful Malibu for a reception — and a breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean — at Gladstone’s beachfront restaurant, a celebrity favorite.

D23 Announces ‘Rocketeer’ Anniversary Event Talent Line-up

In 1991 when The Rocketeer hit theaters, actor Bill Campbell effortlessly won fans over with his sincere portrayal of the heroic Cliff Secord. In honor of the 20th anniversary of this Disney film favorite, Campbell will participate in a panel discussion hosted by writer/producer/director — and self-proclaimed Rocketeer fan — Kevin Smith. The panel will occur immediately before an exclusive screening of the film on June 21, 2011 at the legendary El Capitan Theatre, where the film premiered two decades ago, transporting audiences to a golden age of thrills, glamour and, of course, sleek jet packs. Members of D23: The Official Disney Fan Club have an opportunity to secure tickets for themselves before seats are sold to the general public. In addition to the rocket man himself, the panel will also feature Academy Award®-winning makeup artist Rick Baker (whose other work for Disney includes Enchanted and Captain EO) the two screenwriters responsible for the acclaimed film, Danny Bilson (GoldenEye: Rogue Agent) and Paul De Meo (James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing), and as a special treat, renowned illustrator William Stout (Pan’s Labyrinth, The Muppet Wizard of Oz) will be on hand, representing his friend Dave Stevens, creator of The Rocketeer comics.* Other talent will be announced in the coming weeks.

Hot Topic Presents ‘Pirates Day’ Event in Hollywood and New Jersey, May 14

In celebration of the upcoming release on May 20th of Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films’ Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, the next installment in the hugely popular film franchise, directed by Rob Marshall, Walt Disney Studios announced today special “Pirates Day” fan events, fun-filled celebrations of all things “Pirates,” which will include advance 3D fan screenings of the film. african cats reception for andreas deja at el capitan theatre 114x160 El Capitan to Hold African Cats Opening Reception for Animator Andreas Deja On April 22, 2011, the opening day for Disneynature’s newest Earth Day film, African Cats, Disney’s El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood will be holding a special opening day reception in honor of Disney animator Andreas Deja.

Deja, the current resident specialist for the animation of Mickey Mouse, was the supervising animator of some of the most memorable Disney villains: Gaston from Beauty and the Beast, Jafar in Aladdin and Scar from The Lion King. He also animated Roger Rabbit from Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, King Triton from The Little Mermaid, the title character from Hercules, Lilo from Lilo & Stitch and Queen Narissa from Enchanted. In addition,he is the supervising animator for Tigger in the upcoming Winnie the Pooh.

Disney, Pixar Designers to Participate in Motion Picture Academy Series

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced a four-evening seminar series titled ‘Evolution or Revolution? Production Design in the 21st Century’ to take place on Monday evenings beginning on April 25.

‘Production Design in the 21st Century’ will examine the different aspects of production design and set decoration from the perspective of the designers and decorators themselves. Each evening will feature film clips and open discussion between the evening’s special guests and members of the audience.

Turner Classic Movies to Spotlight Music of Disney During 2011 Film Festival

The musical legacy of The Walt Disney Studios will be celebrated at the 2011 edition of the TCM Classic Film Festival in Hollywood. Turner Classic Movies (TCM), in collaboration with D23, The Official Disney Fan Club, will host a multi-faceted celebration of the studio’s history of bringing music and film together. Presentations at TCM’s four-day festival in April 2011 will include a screening of the recently restored groundbreaking classic Fantasia (1940), which integrated great works of classical music with some of the most innovative animation ever put on film; a collection of Silly Symphonies animated shorts, curated and introduced by film historian Leonard Maltin; and a special tribute to Disney live-action musicals.

Tinker Bell to Receive Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame September 21

D23 is reporting that Tinker Bell will receive her very own star on the world famous Hollywood Walk of Fame on September 21.

Tink will be joining the likes of other ‘fictional’ Disney characters such as Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Snow White, Winnie-the-Pooh and Kermit the Frog. Also to be found along the Walk of Fame are two stars for Walt Disney and a special, unprecedented star for Disneyland itself, awarded for its 50th anniversary.

We will publish additional information as it becomes available to us, but as for the star’s location, we are quite certain it will be the second star to the right of somewhere.
