Following yesterday’s announcement that teenager Riri Williams will be assuming the role of Iron Man once Tony Stark steps aside in Marvel NOW!’s Invincible Iron Man #1 scheduled for release this fall, Marvel has released concept art of what Williams’ armor will look like, seen here. Williams is a student at MIT when she reverse engineers an Iron Man suit, creating her own and bringing attention to Stark, who accepts her as a protege.
Following the success of Marvel’s foray into original junior and young adult novels with Margaret Stohl’s Black Widow treatment, Forever Red, several more collaborations with bestselling authors was announced at last year’s New York Comic-Con.
One such collaboration announced was with Artemis Fowl creator Eoin Colfer who is working on a novel focusing on Iron Man. With temporary artwork for Iron Man: Gauntlet having been recently released, as well as a slated release date of October 25, 2016 (now available for pre-order), we now have our first official synopsis for the 320-page novel:
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences named its nominees for the upcoming 86th Academy Awards, which will air in the United States on ABC on Sunday, March 2, 2014. While Saving Mr. Banks was snubbed from most of the main categories, it managed to garner a nomination for Best Original Score by Thomas Newman. But it was Walt Disney Animation Studios that shined this year, for two unsurprising nominations for Frozen: ‘Let It Go’ for Best Original Song (Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez) and Best Animated Feature where it will compete against Disney’s other contender, Studio Ghibli’s The Wind Rises.
Walt Disney Studios and Marvel Studios have shared with us the first minute of their new One Shot, titled ‘All Hail the King’ which will be featured as one of the bonuses on the February 25 release of Thor: The Dark World Blu-ray (pre-order), which we have embedded below.
The short takes place after the events of Iron Man 3 in which Trevor Slattery is now an infamous icon. He’s also locked up in a high-security prison. Luckily, his newfound profile has brought him celebrity and protection on the inside — and the actor has gladly agreed to an in-depth profile with a documentary filmmaker. The short stars Sir Ben Kingsley — reprising his role — and Scoot McNairy.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences today announced that three of Disney’s films from the past year — both of Marvel Studios’ films, Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World as well as Jerry Bruckheimer’s The Lone Ranger have been shortlisted for nomination consideration in the category of visual effects (VFX).
The other films being considered for nominations in the category are: Elysium, Gravity, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, Oblivion, Pacific Rim, Star Trek Into Darkness and World War Z. The shortlist was determined by the Academy’s Visual Effects Branch Executive Committee and members of the branch will have the opportunity to review a ten minute package from each film on January 9. In honor of the Blu-ray release of Iron Man 3, available to own on September 24 with digital download on September 9, 2013, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment and Marvel Studios have provided us with hi-res versions of stills from the bonus feature, the ‘Marvel One Short: Agent Carter’ film, along with its promotional poster. The fourth entry into the ‘Marvel One Shot’ series, ‘Agent Carter’ features Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter from Captain America: The First Avenger. The film takes place after the events of The First Avenger and offers the latest expansion of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The short will see its premiere at San Diego Comic-con later this week.
With thanks to a couple of recent entries from the British Board of Film Classification (the rich man’s MPAA), we now have additional details regarding the bonus features for the Iron Man 3 Blu-ray which will be available to own on September 24 with HD Digital Download available beginning September 9.

Although there have been many rumors circulating around a domestic release date for this summer’s blockbuster, Iron Man 3, starring Robert Downey Jr. as eccentric billionaire Tony Stark, thanks to a DisneyStore.com listing for the 2D edition, we now have an official release date of September 24, 2013. Amazon.com lists the 3D/2D/DVD/Digital Copy Combo Pack available for pre-order.
Oddly enough, there is no mention of bonus features yet, but thanks to a tip from the forums at hidefninja.com, we have a list of potential bonus feature candidates from the Amazon Italy’s listing for the steelbook edition of the film. While we are still awaiting an official announcement for release (hopefully with confirmed list of bonuses), here are some ideas of what we might expect:
Attendees of a press conference held earlier this month for Disney XD’s new animated series, ‘Avengers Assemble,’ were able to catch a glimpse of Marvel’s Iron Man and Captain America in the flesh/suit. This would have provided a rare opportunity for a meet and greet with the popular Marvel superheroes in an environment provided by Disney proper as the only current appearances in domestic theme parks are regulated to those at Universal Studios Orlando and sanctioned meet and greets at Toys ‘R’ Us locations.
