The Tokyo Disneyland Resort has announced that Jasmine’s Flying Carpets will officially open at Tokyo DisneySea on July 18, 2011. The attraction is fashioned a la Dumbo and has sixteen vehicles in the form of a magic carpet, each capable of holding four guests. Guests are able to control the height and tilt of their carpets. For friends and family not riding the carpet, an elevated viewing platform will be offered.
The attraction is sponsored by NTT Communications Corporation and will be located in the Arabian Coast area of the Tokyo DisneySea park.
Mickey’s PhilharMagic opens later this month, on January 24, at the Tokyo Disneyland theme park.
Beginning April 23, 2011, Tokyo DisneySea at the Tokyo Disney Resort will kick off its tenth anniversary celebration, Be Magical!, which will run for almost a year (ending March 19, 2012) and be broken up into five segments, each offering new attractions and events, expanding on the already popular destination.
The initial segment will include the introduction of the world-famous Fantasmic! to the park. Each night, Mickey’s dream will come to life on the waters of Mediterranean Harbor. The Harbor will also play host to special events during the day including meet & greets with the fab five: Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy and Pluto, all in brand new outfits for the occasion, inspired by the ‘Sorcerer’s Apprentice’ segment from Fantasia.
Summer 2011 will see the addition of Jasmine’s Flying Carpets in the Arabian Coast and the remainder of the year will see all new events including Halloween, Christmas and New Year’s.
Tokyo DisneySea opened on September 4, 2001.
It was announced yesterday by the Oriental Land Company (OLC) that Tokyo DisneySea will receive a new attraction in 2011 based on Aladdin. Jasmine’s Flying Carpets will allow guests to manueuver their vehicles up and down to a maximum height of approximately 16 feet as well as tilt the vehicle forward and backwards. Located in the Arabian Coast area, next to Sindbad’s Storybook Voyage, each of the 16 vehicles will hold two rows of two guests each.
With a total approximate investment of $22 million dollars, Jasmine’s Flying Carpets is anticipated to open in Summer of 2011. Other attractions anticipated in 2011 at the Resort include Mickey’s Philharmagic and Cinderella’s Fairy Tale Hall, both in Tokyo Disneyland.
