Star Wars ‘The Force Awakens’ Garners PG-13 Rating from the MPAA

'Star Wars The Force Awakens' PosterPromising to be one of the more darker films of the Star Wars saga, The Force Awakens (December 18, 2015) was issued a rating of PG-13 by the Motion Picture Association of America, it was announced today via its weekly Classification and Rating Administration (CARA) bulletin. According to the MPAA, the film received its rating for ‘sci-fi action violence.’

Although the PG-13 rating did not exist until 1984, beyond the debut of the original trilogy of Episodes IV, V and VI, it did exist for the prequels, but only the third, Revenge of the Sith, managed to receive the oft-questioned middleground between PG and R.
