Video: ‘Kingdom Keepers V’ Author Ridley Pearson Shares New Details
Via its official YouTube channel, Disney Hyperion has released this new video of Kingdom Keepers creator and author Ridley Pearson as he discusses his upcoming title Kingdom Keepers V: Shell Game which will be released on April 3, 2012 and is currently available for pre-order.
Shared from whilst aboard the Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Dream — upon which the fifth installment takes place — Pearson explains that the book takes place during the fictionalized 14 day maiden voyage of the Disney Dream in which the ship is scheduled to travel between its home port of Cape Canaveral and the port of Los Angeles. Pearson also makes note of a mysterious landing of an airplane at Castaway Cay.
Those fortunate to be in the Walt Disney World area at the end of this month will have an opportunity to meet Ridley Pearson and purchase his new title ahead of its official release. Details for the pre-release can be found here.

‘Kingdom Keepers 5: Shell Game’ Cover Preveal, Chapter One Preview Available Friday
Via his Twitter account, ‘Kingdom Keepers’ series author Ridley Pearson announced that the cover for his anticipated fifth entry in the series, Shell Game, along with chapter one will be officially released tomorrow on the official Facebook page. The cover will debut at 10 am ET while the first chapter will be released at 5 pm ET. The book, currently available for pre-order, will be released on April 3. The cover, presumably seen here, was actually posted on Ridley Pearson’s website for a few weeks prior being pulled in favor of a big reveal (special thanks to @urakan for providing the image).
The book (#5 of 7) is the first to leave the Walt Disney World Resort and heads to sea aboard Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, the Disney Fantasy (which sees its inaugural voyage just a few days before the book’s release, on March 31). Ursula, the sea witch from The Little Mermaid is prominently featured on the book’s cover, ‘hinting’ that she has joined forces with Maleficent and the rest of The Overtakers. The official description is as follows:
As the Disney Fantasy joins the cruise fleet, a special treat is in store for guests aboard its inaugural sail from Cape Canaveral to Los Angeles: the Disney Host Interactive teenage guides will be part of the Fantasy crew.
Finn, Maybeck, Charlene, Willa, and Philby are to attend the cruise as celebrity guests, and to perform a ribbon cutting for the DHI server to go live. The Fantasy is now the most advanced cruise ship in the world.
But all is not right belowdecks. Strange things are happening. Unexplained phenomena. Only the Kingdom Keepers know the truth behind their invitation: nearly every Disney villain is represented onboard the new ship: whether on its decks or in its theaters. It’s believed the Overtakers have infiltrated the cast and are “stowaways.” Worse: it is believed they have stolen an important journal that once belonged to Walt Disney himself–Finn has been having dreams about this–and that some kind of mission is planned.
The ship sets sail filled with enthusiastic guests and crew, and the battle is on in new and exotic arenas: the beaches of Castaway Cay, the caves of Aruba, the locks of the Panama Canal, Costa Rica’s rain forest zip line . . . But the end game is far more complicated and intense than anything the Kingdom Keepers had planned on. If the Overtakers get their way, a power will be unleashed that no one will have the ability to vanquish: Chernabog, dormant for years, is about to have his full powers restored. . . .

Video: Ridley Pearson Talks ‘Kingdom Keepers IV,’ New Online Game
Bad news involving Chernabog and Maleficent have caused the Overtakers to step up their game and there’s no telling what they’ve become capable of in the latest entry to the popular Disney Parks-based series for young adults, Kingdom Keepers IV: Power Play, by Ridley Pearson, available exclusively at Walt Disney World on April 4, everywhere else April 5 (available for pre-order on Amazon.com).
Pearson has offered the following video as an appeal to his loyal fans to help him investigate further just what those pesky villains are up to, inviting them to participate in an all-new viral video game, the ‘Kingdom Keepers: Race to Save the Magic Video Challenge’ coming soon exclusively to thekingdomkeepers.com.
For the five teens who modeled as Disney Hologram Imaging hosts, life is beginning to settle down when an intriguing video arrives to Philby’s computer at school. It’s a call for action: the Overtakers, a group of Disney villains, seem to be plotting to attempt a rescue of two of their leaders, both of whom the Disney Imagineers have hidden away somewhere following a violent encounter in Epcot. A staged attack by new Overtakers at Downtown Disney, startles the group.
One of their own, Charlene, is acting strange of late. Has she tired of her role as a Kingdom Keeper or is there something more sinister at play? When caught sneaking into Epcot as her DHI, acting strictly against the group’s rules, Finn and Philby take action.
Has the ‘impossible’ occurred? Have the Overtakers created their own holograms? Have they found a way to ‘jump’ from the Virtual Maintenance Network onto the Internet, and if so, what does that mean for the safety of the parks, and the spread and reach of the Overtakers? Are they recruiting an army from outside the parks?
A dark cloud in the Kingdom Keeper era is unfolding, and with dissention in their own ranks, it’s unclear if there’s any chance of escape.
Fans of the series are also encouraged to become a fan of the series on its official Facebook page where they’ll find news on the upcoming game, book tour information and even excerpts from the book.

Join author Ridley Pearson as he visits Disneyland May 13 to sign his latest book, Kingdom Keepers III: Disney in Shadow as well as many of his other best sellers.
Ridley will be appearing at the Disneyana Shop in Main Street, USA in Disneyland on Thursday, May 13 from 10 am – 1 pm.
Merchandise to be signed must be purchased at the event and there is a limit of two items per guest. Park admission is required.
About Kingdom Keepers III: Disney in Shadows:
When Disney Imagineers installed hologram guides for the Magic Kingdom, using teenage models they had no idea the technology might backfire. But backfire it did: some nights when the kids go to sleep, they wake up in one of the Disney parks as a hologram.
With the adventures set forth in the first books now behind them, Kingdom Keepers 3: Disney In Shadow follows the five teens, Finn, Philby, Willa, Charlene, and Maybeck as they search to find Wayne, their mentor and head Imagineer who has mysteriously gone missing. Concerned Wayne has been abducted by the Overtakers-Disney villains, who along with other Disney characters, take over the parks when the turnstiles stop spinning, and want desperately to steer the parks to a far darker place-the five kids pick up a major clue from a close friend, Jez, whose dreams (nightmares, really) often accurately predict the future.
The very few clues from Jez’s dream lead the kids into Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Epcot–through imaginary worlds that become real, by imaginary kids who are real. Each clue seems tied to the last, and with the stakes growing ever higher, what starts out as a puzzle ends up as a fight for their lives. Through a transparent paper box, a quest for a sword, rides on Soarin’ and Maelstrom, life-and-death encounters with giant snakes, and a devious Maleficent, the Kingdom Keepers not only begin to decipher deeper meanings to the clues, but discover new truths about themselves and their ever-growing friendships.

The Kingdom Keepers Return to Guide Guests Through the Disney Parks by Day – and Protect the Parks from Disney Villains at Night
Five teenagers – the Kingdom Keepers – have been transformed into Disney Holographic Images (DHIs) that thrill guests as they guide them through each of the Disney parks. In truth, the Disney Imagineers created the DHIs to protect Disney’s theme parks from the Overtakers, classic Disney villains, who are trying to seize the parks and use them for their own evil agendas. Ridley Pearson’s Kingdom Keepers book series follows these heroes on behind-the-scenes adventures in the magical world of the Disney parks – and in Kingdom Keepers III: Disney in Shadow, the action happens in Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Epcot. (Disney-Hyperion Books, ages 10 and up, $17.99)
Kingdom Keepers III: Disney in Shadow takes readers behind the scenes in the parks as another evil plot is unleashed. Disney Imagineer Wayne, the Keepers’ mentor, and creator of Disney Holographic Imaging – a cutting edge technology – has gone missing. Has he been abducted? The main suspects? The evil Overtakers, including the devious Maleficent. The DHIs are led on a high-stakes chase through the two parks, and what starts out as a puzzle ends up as a fight for their lives. As they quest for a sword, take rides on Soarin’ and Maelstrom, have life-and-death encounters with a giant snake, and attempt to stop Maleficent, the Kingdom Keepers not only begin to decipher deeper meanings in clues they are given, but also discover new truths about themselves and their ever-growing friendships.
In Disney Book Group’s groundbreaking interactive campaign, Kingdom Keepers III: Disney in Shadow includes bonus pages and endpapers with 3D augmented reality. thekingdomkeepers.com unlocks an interactive map and clues provided in the endpapers and is the pathway for gamers to play the Kingdom Keepers strategy game and help defeat the Overtakers. Players work together to defeat the villains, who have escaped the parks and are now wreaking havoc on the internet. With the overall goal of cleansing the game’s 2500 nodes, each time a node is defeated, the main game map is updated for all players and new content is unlocked – whether it be text, images, photos, or even video. In addition, there is a secret key that allows players to enter code words revealed by Ridley in special videos to attain bonus abilities.
In addition to appearances at Walt Disney World, Pearson will tour the US in support of Kingdom Keepers III – Disney in Shadow. Markets include Miami, FL; Naperville, IL; Wayzata, MN; Portland, OR; Seattle, WA; St. Louis, MO; and San Francisco, CA.
