ESPN’s X Games Returns to Downtown Los Angeles After Seven Years
ESPN – together with Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG) and the Los Angeles Coliseum – will celebrate its 16th annual action sports event, the X Games, entirely downtown between STAPLES Center, Nokia Theatre, the Los Angeles Coliseum and L.A. LIVE. The 2010 event will mark the seventh consecutive year that the X Games will take place in Los Angeles. Thirty-one hours of live X Games programming on ESPN and ESPN2 – all in high definition – will be aired July 29 through August 1, as well as on ESPN International, ESPN.com\action, ESPN Classic, ESPN3.com, and SportsCenter.
“It has been seven years since we first had X Games events at the Los Angeles Coliseum, and ESPN couldn’t be more thrilled to be returning this year with several of our sports,” said Jack Wienert, ESPN executive director, X Games Event Management. “As the X Games franchise continues to grow, we are proud and excited about our continued great relationship with AEG as we expand our presence this year downtown at STAPLES Center and L.A. LIVE.”

ABC Launches ‘Dancing with the Stars’ Promo at the Grove in Los Angeles
Beginning Wednesday, March 17, ABC will launch a full hydro projection video and audio to promote the upcoming season of ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars.” See current and former stars, along with the professional dancers, dancing on water in the fountain at the Grove shopping center in Los Angeles (on the water fountain across from Pacific Theatres). The captivating video, which will be projected four times per hour starting at approximately 7:00 PM PT and then repeated every hour, will be set to music leading up to the “Dancing with the Stars” two-hour season premiere on MONDAY, MARCH 22 (8:00-10:02 p.m., ET) on ABC.
D23 Announces Schedule of Exclusive Member Events for 2010
janD23: The Official Community for Disney Fans today unveiled a host of special events that have been designed especially for its growing worldwide membership base.
Among the exciting offerings for 2010 are exclusive D23 one-year anniversary parties at the Disneyland® Resort and Walt Disney World® Resort, free “50 and Fabulous” film screenings at the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, and a special 40th anniversary celebration event to honor the Walt Disney Archives.

D23 Announces Special Mary Poppins Event in Los Angeles with Special Guest
On January 22, Disney Theatrical Productions invites D23 Members to attend a special performance of Mary Poppins at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles. Members will receive a 20% discount on select seats in various seating locations throughout the theatre as well as a voucher good for 20% off all merchandise at the show.
Members will also get an exclusive post-show experience with the Mary Poppins cast and a top-secret surprise guest. D23 won’t say who it is, but only that he appeared in the original film. Could it be Dick Van Dyke? Maybe, but our money is on the man with a wooden leg named Smith.
‘Mary Poppins’ Touring Company to Offer Free Performance in Los Angeles December 4
LOS ANGELES — Four actors that are currently appearing in the West Coast premiere of “Mary Poppins” (which is being presented at the Center Theatre Group/Ahmanson Theatre) will perform songs from Broadway’s perfectly magical musical in a special free performance at The Grove in Los Angeles on Friday, December 4, 2009, at 3 p.m. Gail Bennett, playing the role of Mary Poppins, and Dominic Roberts, playing the role of Bert, will be joined by Katie Balen and Carter Thomas who play Jane and Michael Banks (respectively).
In addition to the performance the actors will answer questions from Mark Wallengren of KOST (103.5 FM). The performance will take place at 189 The Grove Drive, Los Angeles – in The Park.
“Mary Poppins,” a co-production of Disney and Cameron Mackintosh, opened on Broadway on November 16, 2006. Based on P.L. Travers’ cherished stories and the classic 1964 Walt Disney film, “Mary Poppins” the stage play features the Academy Award®-winning music and lyrics of Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman. The stage production has been created, in collaboration with Cameron Mackintosh, by Academy Award®-winning screenwriter Julian Fellowes, who has written the book, and the Olivier Award-winning team of George Stiles and Anthony Drewe, who have composed new songs and additional music and lyrics.
Olivier Award-winning director Richard Eyre leads the award-winning creative team, with co-direction and choreography by Tony® and Olivier Award winner Matthew Bourne. “Mary Poppins” features set and costume design by Tony® Award winner Bob Crowley, co-choreography by Olivier Award winner Stephen Mear, lighting design by Howard Harrison, orchestrations by William David Brohn, and music supervision by David Caddick. The tour’s creative team includes Tour Director Anthony Lyn, Associate Choreographer Geoffrey Garrett, and Music Director James Dodgson.
Mickey Mouse to Kick Off Traveling Disney Train Art Exhibit in Kansas City October 10
Mickey Mouse will visit Union Station in Kansas City (Walt Disney’s hometown) from 10 am – 12 pm on October 10 to celebrate the unveiling of a traveling art exhibit that pays homage to Walt Disney’s lifelong love of trains and introduces the latest train conducted by Mickey himself, Mickey’s Magic Choo Choo toy train, releasing in time for the holidays. Local preschoolers along with representatives from the Kansas City Mayor’s office and hundreds of fans will see Mickey before he departs from Union Station bound for Los Angeles for a viewing party for the premier of the Disney Channel primetime special, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Choo Choo Express airing Sunday October 25th. Report: ESPN.com Zones in on Dallas, New York and Los Angeles
Variety is reporting that ESPN.com’s test of offering Chicago its own localized version of information from the sports news giant has been so successful, that it’s moving on to other markets. Dallas is expected to launch in October while New York City and Los Angeles will follow in 1Q ’10. In addition to extended coverage of local sports including at the high school level, each site will have its own short form of SportsCenter.
First Look: The G-Force Experience Exclusively at The El Capitan Theater
In celebration of Walt Disney Pictures’ and Jerry Bruckheimer Films’ G-FORCE, The El Capitan Theatre will offer audiences over three and half hours of additional fun following the movie, with the G-FORCE EXPERIENCE from July 24 through September 7, it was announced today by Lylle Breier, senior vice president of worldwide special events, Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

A Christmas Carol Train Tour Event Photocall and New Photos of Train Interior
The 40 city whistle-stop tour of the train promoting Disney’s A Christmas Carol kicked off today at Union Station in Los Angeles and star Jim Carrey and director Robert Zemeckis were on hand to kick it off. In addition, we get a new glimpse of some of the exhibits on display inside the train.
