Walt Disney Studios and Marvel Studios have provided us with the full, credited cast list for Guardians of the Galaxy (August 1, 2014) and while we don’t see any big surprises in terms of who will show (or not show) their face in the film, we do have role names for them, hinting at where they can be spotted throughout the film. Also is a mention of a particular property which will definitely ruffle some feathers.
Marvel Entertainment and Lucasfilm today announced that three new titles will mark the return of the Star Wars franchise to Marvel comics beginning in January 2015. The new series will be considered canon and take place immediately after the events of Episode IV: A New Home.
The new titles begin in January with Star Wars by writer Jason Aaron, artist John Cassaday and colorist Laura Martin. Star Wars chronicles the days following the destruction of the first Death Star. Discussing the flagship series, writer Jason Aaron tells Marvel.com, ‘Every story is about the characters, and we’ll focus on all the old favorites. There will be big moments for everyone, from Han to R2-D2. But a major part of the narrative will be driven by Luke Skywalker and his journey of discovery, a journey that will decide the fate of the entire galaxy.’
ABC Studios has released a taste of the gag reel that will be among the bonus features of ‘Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: The Complete First Season‘ when it debuts on Blu-ray and DVD on September 9, 2014. You can find the gag reel embedded below.
During the Marvel Games Panel at San Diego Comic-Con this past weekend, Disney Interactive unveiled the first set of Marvel Villains playable characters to be part of the second wave of the ‘Disney Infinity 2.0 Edition’ roll-out: Ronan the Accuser from Guardians of the Galaxy, Green Goblin from Spider-Man and the infamous Loki, God of Mischief from The Avengers. Whether it’s flexing their unstoppable powers for all things evil in their respective Play Sets, the updated Toy Box 2.0, or the newly added structured Toy Box Games, these Super Villains are forces to be reckoned with.
This time around with ‘Disney Infinity 2.0,’ I have been blessed with the opportunity to preview the game several times over the past couple of months and this past week at San Diego Comic-Con I had the additional pleasure of checking it out every day of the con that the pop-up shop was open, including the special Disney D23 event with Alex Hirsch of ‘Gravity Falls.’ I also had the larger pleasure of talking with a few of the folks on the development team and gained additional insight into the game.
At the Big Hero 6 (November 7, 2014) booth from Disney Consumer Products at San Diego Comic-Con, attendees are able to preview much of the upcoming toy line from Bandai that will be available at mass market retailers beginning in September. Among the items, however, are also a sneak peek at upcoming Vinylmation figures based on the titular characters from the film, to be available exclusively at Disney Store.
At San Diego Comic-Con, Disney Interactive today announced the next chapter in its upcoming ‘Disney Infinity Marvel Super Heroes (2.0 Edition)’ — the Guardians of the Galaxy play set, inspired by the Marvel film of the same name, in theaters on August 1, 2014.
The Guardians of the Galaxy play set follows Star-Lord and his fellow Guardians as they arrive at Knowhere, having just stolen a powerful cosmic object from the villainous Ronan the Accuser. Players will guide the team as they race to protect Knowhere from Ronan and his attacking Sakaaran fleet while keeping their newly liberated item safe from the villain’s evil grasp.
Just ahead of San Diego Comic-Con, Sony and Disney Interactive have revealed the first look and additional details for their exclusive ‘Disney Infinity 2.0′ Collector’s Edition for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 as well as a PlayStation 3 bundle.
As part of the third annual ‘Sweet Suite’ event held last night in New York City, I once again had the distinct pleasure to meet with ‘Disney Infinity’ executive producer John Vignocchi as I got a second recent look at the upcoming ‘Disney Infinity 2.0 Edition’ title on the PS4 on an even newer build than the one I saw last month. Unfortunately I didn’t get any actual hands-on with the game this time around as the build is so recent, it contained items not yet officially announced so there’s nothing I can share in terms of that other than to prepare you to hold on to your seats firmly, especially as San Diego Comic-Con hits us next week.
